I even didn't remember initially that I posted this ship. My memory is deteriorating... :S Now that I look at it again, I think that it is not long enough compared to its width and the height of the castle. My advise to Mr. Phred: 90% of the older pirate ships/MOCs from BS and MOCpages have already been posted so better double check ;-) . I have enjoyed reading in all those old pirate threads the last weeks. Lots of interesting stuff is in this forum!

I like the colors you used for the house/tavern in the second MOC. But I agree with Mr. Phes on the color of the tower. Might be better in white with some yellow.

Great find! Those classic crusader figs are so beautiful *wub*

Anybody combined Pirates and Indians before?
Bonaparte replied to simonwillems's topic in LEGO Pirates
Aha. I thought you referred to official sets. But of course Willem should not be hindered in any way to make his Pocahontas scene because its not entirely historic correct. I might be a bit of a history freak :-D -

Thats true, but they should make more historical (and more or less accurate) sets. What's wrong with adding some educational value? -
Welcome at the pirate forum!!! Can you show us a picture of your version of the ship?
-
I never added a beard or mustache, but I did remove them :) Check out this thread to read more about that. This way you can create some more variation in the Lego heads. If you want get more info on minifig customization you should visit http://www.minifigcustomizationnetwork.com/ Here you can learn how to make your own faces for minifigs. Also check their forum for more tips and tricks.

It's a good looking scene with some nice pictures. It all looks very realistic. So we have a ship that is supposed to be British (?) that's approaching an indian village. It would be interesting if the creator could tell us if this is just a random coincidence or there is some deeper (historical) meaning to this scene before I do some more research. -
This MOC has a nice (pirate/imperial) atmosphere. I like the background you used for presenting it. There is still some room for improvements but you have great potential ;-) I really hope to see more pirate MOCs from you.

I have thought of making hats myself, but never really tried it. It's a good idea to uses plasticine, but you will need a rather expensive installation to make them in plastic. I do paint some stuff (helmet, eagles, ....) in chrome and gold. I have bought an airbrush for doing this. You can find more details (and some pictures of the airbrush I use) in this thread. This is a black helmet that I have painted: Do you have some images of the helmets and hats that you would like to have in a Lego version? This will make it easier to help you search for a solution. What do you mean by painting faces? Do you mean adding a mustache, beard, ... ?

Thanks to woody64 (Andreas), we can now recreate the mighty Austrian army. He created the torso's which are now part of our library. Next I will add the POTC torso's. I might need some help here with the names... EDIT: POTC added to the library.

I loved watching the pictures (took maybe 20 minutes). All the details you put in the MOC make it even more special and the story gives some nice background. It's incredible how realistic it is done (the rocks, water, tree, vegetation, ...). This looks just great Nathan!

Reo Speedwagon - Keep on loving you

I think ships of the line were ships that were powerful enough to be used in a battle in line formation (like the battle of Trafalgar). So maybe a powerful frigate could be used in a line formation and could then be called a ship of the line.
-
Indeed, but in the Fourth Rate Wikipedia article is written: "In the British Royal Navy, a fourth-rate was, during the 18th century, a ship of the line mounting 50-60 guns ." So this ship is clearly not a fourth-rate (since it has only 42 guns) but a fifth rate instead. But on the Fifth Rate Wikipedia article is written: "In the British Royal Navy, a fifth-rate was a sailing frigate mounting 32 to 44 guns with the main battery on a single deck". And since this ship has 2 decks.... I don't know what kind of ship it is :-D
-
Now I feel like I'm at work :-X Lets talk about Lego :)
-
I think it is rather a Frigate because it has only 42 guns.

For me they are useful as pirates or citizens (in any timezone).

What made this movie so special for you?

Marco Borsato - De waarheid. I seem to turn on my stereo each time I see this thread :-D

I would go for Battle at the Pass because it has most figs and weapons. And I don't like those dragons in the all the vikings sets. They should have the vikings fight some other faction (maybe a castle faction) but not stupid dragons.

That's a nice scene. But why are they trying to get that horse on the weird wagon. It looks like it can jump of any second.

It's a missed opportunity of the Lego company not to get a LOTR licence. That would have been very complementary with classic-castle. When the first LOTR movie came out, it was about the same time of the first Harry Potter movie. So I guess that TLC decide to go for Harry :-( I would like to see a Roman theme (and they won't even have to buy a license).

Good idea Mr. Phes. If I had a MISB (pirate) set, I would probably try to sell it and make some profit (to buy other Lego). And if I would buy one for myself, then of course I would open it. When I buy (old) sets, I prefer to have the box still included. But I won't pay much more to have a MISB. I just can't enjoy the Lego if I can't touch it.

We had one in our previous lab. Don't know if Alcatel-Lucent still sell them today... Today we are always positioning the Timetra product line (7750). But I could find out if you want :) How come you know about the Omniswitch Mr. Calvin? You work in the IT business?
