  1. Eneloops here too, but watch out, there are many versions of the regular Eneloops and not all have the same capacity. And then there is Eneloop Pro, but for tanking advantage of that removal of the Lego battery box overload protection is a must. I use a 12 AA battery charger. it's nice to be able to charge two full battery boxes at once.
  2. I had old non lego motors (30+ years old) lose most if its power because the magnets used lost part of its force. If that was by improper storage, heat or physical abuse I can't tell, but as any second had item it's condition may be wildly variable. I got a couple buggy motors, one was mine and the other from bricklink and both perform like new.
  3. I worry we may end up looking like fools with all this speculation once the IP car is revealed.
  4. I think the pictures are too small to tell, But at first sight those would look nicer on a Le Mans type car for example.
  5. Did TLG ever explicitly celebrate an anniversary with a special set?
  6. I like the second one, would Love it in a scale suitable for the Arocs.
  7. I am more concerned about how the next 40 years will be. IR RC, really? The 30 anniversary they introduced PF, no need to keep looking back, just bring the next big thing.
  8. You are deciding to qualify the fact as a problem instead of for example a lack of tact, I am not sure how it qualifies, but what I can say is that I have seen both examples you put in quotes and even some "just quit Lego". So your classification of "non existent" id' say is plainly wrong. On the other hand one can tell people to be tolerant or intolerant, and while both acts are the same, they are not equal. Yo could say its hypocritical of course, but sometimes is easy to tell right from wrong. I also don't like this type of comment "yeah it's cool, but I personally don't find it as impressive as a MOC built with 100% Lego." Isn't better in that case just to no say anything at all? Because all I see is a statement that does not compliment, help or give constructive criticism. It is just letting clear a point of view while dismissing the work of someone else, for no reason at all. Or is it absolutely necessary for someone who says anything like that to let his opinion be heard above any other consideration? And that not only applies to purism. Single line posts like that aren't that uncommon. I think this thread derailed pretty soon, but by then the OP had figured an answer from all the comments.
  9. You don't see "non purists" jumping on every MOC that is just Lego However on non pure MOCs I am used to see some negativity from "Keep Lego Pure" Internet Warriors
  10. Lego bricks are a tool, use it as you please, just don't judge others by how they use/combine their tools.
  11. "Purity" serves well for contests to set a level base, beyond that it has little sense, just a matter of taste. Is up to contest rulers, to decide what is acceptable and what not, but Sbrick is probably quite acceptable. Real Technic purists only build with parts available in 1977 and are proud of it! A motor you say? what are you, a 1978 builder? Bah you are without skill or ideas. Whatever, skill has absolutely nothing to do with purity, if anything it usually takes some skill beyond Lego to make custom parts or adapt non Lego ones. Furthermore most of the time non pure solutions try to bypass physical limitations of Lego parts, and that has nothing to do with lack of ideas. I understand purism, but not when it goes accompanied by a sense of superiority, then it becomes hilarious, specially since TLG is continuously changing it's part catalog.
  12. My collection is around 80000 parts, almost half of it are Star Wars models on display. So a bit over 40000 parts mostly Technic, perhaps 35000 studless, none on show, so everything available. I had Technic models on display but it was not feasible for me if I wanted to build anything beyond sets for display. When I was at around 25K studless I felt constrained by my color choices lack of some interesting parts. and techniques out of my reach due to the lack of studded parts for example. So I focused and currently I am at 50/50 budget for new sets/bricklink and I chose sets carefully taking into account color and inventory. I avoid blue and green models, the different shades available in those colors makes those sets hard to be cost effective choices. Having just a few hundred parts of one color may make it useless as you will continually find that for your needs you lack some specific part in that color. Until recently I had yellow, red, black and grays, only when Lego made lots of models with white and orange I took the chance to get enough parts (sets/bricklink) in those colors to be useful. For example 42042 Crawler Crane isn't useful to me at this time due to my absolute lack of blue. So by now I have focused on 42025 Cargo Plane 42038 Arctic Truck and the new 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter to expand my white/orange collection, but at some point I will grab 2 or 3 copies of 42042 and complement it with some bricklink orders, I am waiting to see 2016 2H models colors to add this color to my stock . Building physical can't be completely replaced by Digital -some things look great in digital but fail miserably in bricks- but it helps a lot for planing, and for choosing colors is great, you can check inventories in bricklink, color the parts that are really available and get an idea of what you need. I hate color vomit.
  13. So is this guy https://www.facebook.com/AlexFilms-Production-1456486914575045/ ? Lego Ideas pic and name match but that also might be fake.
  14. Wow, is there any way to become even more pathetic than that? Report it to police, better safe than sorry. Also doesn't Facebook itself have some kind of reporting tools for those cases?
  15. Panels have great strength to weight ratio while giving a somewhat more natural look than a beam frame. 8880 while being great, by today's standards looks bulky and somehow unfinished.
  16. I consciously try to not pay attention -something quite hard- to pin and bush alignments because I feel weird when I notice I am checking them.
  17. I think I know what is happening....
  18. Don't feed the trolls... or feed them for fun and watch what happens next, but don't take it seriously. I hope Sariel posted it just to share the fun... there is some hilarious insanity in it, but nothing to discuss or take seriously about it.
  19. What did he do after that, rickrolled you?
  20. It looks great in those images. I think as a child I would have loved this, perhaps even the Getaway racer. I still may end up having an Interceptor on my office table. The B model while nice -if you can get over the color vomit- seems pointless in my opinion. By the way, the Reviews section in the Technic, Model Team and Mindstorms Index needs a little update.
  21. Yellow and red are pretty common colors in Technic, so having a few axles of different sizes in those colors may prove very helpful, My guess is they are not changing axle colors just providing some stock of different sizes in those colors. I (and probably anyone here) already have more black and grey axles than I will ever need and will be quite happy with a few yellow and red ones.
  22. 42053 Volvo EW160E 42054 Claas Xerion 5000 TRAC VC 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator 42056 Ultimate IP Car No pictures of those in the wild yet right?
  23. Did Toys R Us start selling those too early? Right now the reviews embargo until December first makes little sense, anyone can purchase and review those sets.
