[MOC] Swingloader Mark Two
JM1971 replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You know a great moc when you show it too your dad and he sighs, because he knows your going to spend all your money on parts :P Excellent indeed. -
Which Battery Pack ?
JM1971 replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The lipo is way too expensive, I agree with you there. The AA/AAA sanyo eneloop batteries are very good, very little discharge when idle so they last quite a long time. -
Found these finger skateboard things ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dtoys&field-keywords=skatelab

I'm sure there is a market for obstacles, races would be so much fun too, your course has so many good features and I hope you can put it together :)

MOC: LDD Hornet
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for comments, I have 87% of the parts and will build this asap. (and hopefully it will work :P) I do like the blue and grey :) -
Sweet course, I know from testing the 41999 can climb no more than 30 degrees and 45 degrees with the winch. I'm working on collapsible pyramids and a ramp with fibreboard and door hinges, or at least I will be when I get paid on tuesday :D

Based on the Tamiya Hornet, 2 XL motors of which one needs to be reversed on the controller, full suspension and steering on the front. Feel free to make this from the LDD file http://rebrickable.c...s/JM1971/hornet , colour suggestions welcome.

There is a lipo sized battery box that uses AAA batteries, much cheaper too ... http://powerfunction...ault.aspx#88000 -
IR PF Control from a PC?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
https://github.com/i.../lego-pf-ir-360 Its that same Arduino device mentioned by JopieK. EDIT: Can arduino control multiple lego pf's and automate stuff? -
Rock Crawler Course?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thx! Its all a bit crude atm, but just gatering data, ramp test with and without winch ... -

Built a test pyramid out of cardboard ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/100055104@N08/9644835806/ Angle of the sides is about 30 degrees. -

Rock Crawler Course?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ken Block style :D The 51999 can manage about 30 degrees on bare fibreboard, not as much has I though but still impressive. -
Fiat Panda 4x4
JM1971 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When everything goes right, the right size wheels, the right motors, gearing and weight distribution then it really becomes more than the some of its parts, really excellent design. -
Nice build, would be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Panda 4x4 by PiterX, is that 2 XL motors in there?

Same here, racing these babies against each other would be very cool :) -
Rock Crawler Course?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, too small. Hardboard/Fiberboard (the stuff on the back of wardrobes) is cheap, I'm thinking 9 - 200mm x 200mm x 100mm high hollow pyramids that can stack up for easy storage, easier said than done :D -
Fiat Panda 4x4
JM1971 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For a small car it flies over rough ground :D Does your camera have auto-steady or is that done during editing? -

JM1971 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
From the outside you would never guess there was 2 motors and a servo in there, impressive use of bricks. -
VIDEO XL Motors and geared up ... http://www.flickr.co...N08/9622106504/ I don't recommend doing this because the motors limit suspension travel and the torque from the xl motors distorts the structure a little, but it is fun :)
