  1. Built and tested the front suspension and steering, works well.
  2. A diff lock or limited slip diff would be better, you could place to small circle of thin card under the center cog of the diff to create resistance. Gonna try that
  3. No worries there, suspension bridge looks like it can handle around 20+kg, ramp 50+kg, rough estimate.
  4. I looked into controlling cars from the net, seems latency will be a problem, I tried recording IR signals with a camera which worked but nothing happened when playing them back, I dont think TV's broadcast IR even though IR is visible to humans when playing back video. Looking very good btw.
  5. Have a rest, sometimes a solution comes to mind, I bet a lot of people give up and then make a come back, your moc is looking good.
  6. I'm interested in EV3 and was wondering could I for example program manoeuvres into rock crawler or even get it to follow obstacle course? Doc_Brown is making rock crawler course and doing a very good job (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86580&hl=), but could people control cars on that from the Internet like in a race?
  7. Some more stuff added, its getting really hard to see a path from here, apart from mudguards :) The real buggy has smaller wheels than this, I'll go though them all again to see if other look better.
  8. Have you tried it on a Evel Knievel style ramp? I bet it could jump quite a distance.
  9. I'm calling this finished, now its a case of waiting for parts, building, testing. Speed wise it will be faster than a rock crawler but not by much, I've decided to play it safe so no parts wear or break. Its all standard lego parts. Thanks to all for support and advice, this site rocks!!!
  10. Your right, and I thought they were, quick fix.
  11. Transparency render, if I spent less time rendering then it would be done my now
  12. Impressive, really good tracking and suspension, but how many uni-joints have you popped
  13. Heres the XL vs the motor from the rock crawler, XL is nuts if you make a mistake parts will fly :P http://www.flickr.com/photos/100055104@N08/9947984204/
  14. Thats really neat, skid steer stuff is great. :)
  15. Gearing up put more strain on everything between the motor and wheels, lego cant handle too much of that, in a car you have a clutch and gears, imagine a powerful car trying to pull of in 5th gear with the clutch out and full revs, its a lot of strain.
  16. The XL's have too much torque to gear up without needing a clutch, I done that to a 41999 once and it was distorting the structure and rods were powdering, not recommended :P I need to build this to go any further, LDD file ... http://www41.zippyshare.com/v/16570768/file.html
  17. 20-12 in that pic, but now I'm connecting direct to the motor for the sake of not wearing out parts. Stuff has yet to be moved around. I have no idea what that stuff is so for now I'm slowing it down before parts get broke :P
  18. I think I'm getting somewhere with the help of eurobricks of course :)
  19. I got my heart set on independent suspension but if I cant do it that will be the next choice. I have to learn how to walk before I can run, what set is your steering from? those parts are not in LDD, your moc is looking very tasty.
  20. OOO, sounds interesting, done another design, going for medium speed.
  21. When I use LDD I never know whats going to happen, its all starts fine but after I take my prescription painkillers it kind of goes all wierd :) Its too wide because the track rods are too long, its got no suspension because the universal joints are too weak to handle any real power, suspention in the middle because it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I'll build this design, see what works, and go from there :P
  22. 3mm hardboard, same stuff used to underlay wooden floors, cheap and strong :D
