Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Freddy Bricker replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I see no problem with this, I'm very much into all Star Wars media and have been dwelling more and more into their comics, great to see they'll still be around in some form of media! Thanks for the info once again commanderneyo! These all sound great, especially the mystery behind Sifo-Dya's death. But don't force ghosts count as "speaking to the living from beyond the grave"? Would be interested to see if this arc is actually what teaches Yoda how to communicate with the dead, or am I misreading something? -
Do you mean translucent? If they were transparent, they would be clear, no? They seem to shine, if that means anything.

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014
Freddy Bricker replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I missed out on Atlantis and would love for that to return, but maybe this isn't the right thread? (shut up Freddy!) When exactly is New York Toy Fair, though? February am I correct? Because if that is so then it wouldn't be so long before we start to see information! Again, I can't wait to have my own Ann Lee (and maybe Frank Rock if I'm bored) to go on spy missions! -
I can see your point, but you just contradicted yourself saying "so half of 2013 wasn't Batman" um it was. And the "logic" which you believe to be absent is a renewal of the contract to bring in more sets which means Batman would only be a portion of it, not it's entirety. And as for Marvel, I love Spiderman, and quite frankly wish they'd do more of him (not that I believe he's underused, I'm just pleased to hear they'll be continuing along with him and don't want them to stop). I'm perturbed by this evergreen status because it just seems like more years of the same crap. If this doesn't bring in more sets and allow for new builds I'll be extremely upset. But maybe we still have some hope, all of (or more of) this years Batman sets will still be around next year, which means next years new generation of costumers can own the Joker, the Penguin, and Man-Bat. This could mean that next year all of the sets can focus on someone else, but I'm not exactly expecting Lego to "wow" me on this. Lego seems to be doing great with Ninjago, the Collectable minifigures Series, and TMNT, I just wish they'd do the same for this theme. Half has great figs and downright boring builds (mostly) while he other has very little diversity (or quality) in its figures and very amusing builds. They can very easily find a balance, I'm just worried that this evergreen status means it will take them longer to.

I don't know, after having seen years of Batman in Lego (in and out of his theme!) I'd say they're probably required to introduce VERY (very) few characters every now and then, and apart from the movie universe I wouldn't hold my breath for any non-Batman villains. I believe this evergreen status means they can just delay on putting newer and original sets out. It took Star Wars a few waves to put out obscure podracers and the like, while here we are 3 years after the beginning of the theme and we still haven't got half of a wave that isn't Batman. On Marvel's side, the minifigure selection is great, but let's just say the minifigures are the only thing backing up he sets (apart from the Daily Bugle and Quinjet that is, while Iron Man's Malibu Mansion attack was also pretty good). I still very much wish Lego let go of this theme to bring it back with more characters and the like.

agree, though I must say I loved Young Justice and Green Lantern could've been better (ok it was boring). But doesn't Warner Bros also control their merchandise, that would also explain why the merchandise isn't there, because WB just isn't... good(?).

Disney Princess 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Freddy Bricker replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Child Mini-dolls, I think I'd be interested in that. Though maybe they would require new head molds? Either way, I'm sure they wouldn't be used for the Dwarves. -
Of course they'res also a confirmed Constantine and Hourman shows. And a rumored live action Young Justice series. I actually think DC does great in what they have control over, their comics. Warner Bros isn't as huge as they used to be, ergo they don't make the best movies. But since most people will judge a franchise off of it's movies, then I can see why we're getting so much Batman, that's pretty much 905 of what Warner Bros will ever focus on.

Picked up Marvel's Point 1 #1 2 days ago. It's basically a huge advertisement, it was a combination of prologues to new titles introduced in January 2014. I didn't really fall in love with much of them, "Loki: Agent of Asgard" wasn't nearly as interesting as I expected it to be. Black Widow was terrible, and new invaders and Avengers World were both meh, not great but not terrible. However Mrs. Marvel was great! I have little to no idea on exactly who or what Mrs. Marvel is, but I always thought she was a blond. She's a funny quirky Muslim living in Jersey City trying to balance being both a hero and a daughter to her parents high expectations. In this incarnation at least, and I'll be sure to pick it up on it's sale date (February 5th)!

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014

So Inferno's the villain again? Since I missed out on the old theme, I'm completely fine with this! Can't wait to see this "Tornado" though, how would one recreate natural disasters with ABS plastic? -
<p> What if he saw both the Agents AND Ninjago sets and they both had the same villain that appeared to be the Overlord?Anyways I'm alright with this theme continuing, so long as we eventually get Misako, I'm good.

"Evergreen". Not sure I like the sound of that, for DC it is. I'm expecting another decade or so of Batman, remakes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, and MAYBE Green Lantern if we're lucky. I highly doubt we'll be getting anything other than Batman out of those few characters. Maybe Cyborg and Martian Manhunter, because they're easy to make (or so says the 2014 Ninjago waves). I was really hoping they'd end next year so that they could bring it back years later with a renewed contract to make more sets, but then again I'm sure 90% would be Batman, no matter how much I rant. "Batman is a bestseller" well when he only has 4 other sets to go against... 2013 had half Batman half Superman sets, 1 of the Superman sets was just a car, and the others had terrible figs (apart from their armor, the Kryptonians reused heads, and Lois Lane was... well she was Lois Lane) and the largest set (I heard) was smaller in scale for, guns? Batman only had 1 comic Sup's set to go against him, of course he sells better! He's the only thing their selling!

Loving all the responses in this thread. But I have to say I strongly believe the Dwarves would be new molds, and we'd see about 3, just like Merida's Highland Games
-
I can see where you're coming from, but Wally West and possibly Stephanie Brown will come back into the New 52 in April I believe, so there's that. Also, Crisis in my opinion was dragged along, because most fans (like myself) are still trying to processes how great it was, and want most comics to be up along with it's quality.
-
I agree with Hrafnblod, we're more than likely not even going to get a Marvel D2C. I'm sure we would've heard something by now.

Welcome Eurobrickers to Freddy's new idea thread! I have some expectations for this new Disney theme, and contrary to popular opinion, I will be buying from it! But quite frankly, we can't have everything we want now can we? So this is the thread where you'll all be pitching in ideas for future Princess sets. But try to make them realistic, this isn't a fairy tale! I'll go first, if you don't mind. Snow white's escape - Small forest scene with Snow white running away from the queens hunter. $49.99 Snow White's Cabin adventure - Snow White with 3 Dwarves in a large cabin fit for 7 small beds, a kitchen, and a mini piano. Exterior detail of trees and animals. Accessories include several flowers, a brush, and a pie. Animals include 2 deer, 1 bunny, and 2 birds. Dwarves include Grumpy, Doppy, and Sneezy. Let the ideas begin!

I'm hoping for the contrary, I want me some Dwarves, oh I have so many ideas. time for a new thread. -
I'm curious to know, what part of the new 52 doesn't make you want to read it? Also, crisis was a 12 issue limited series, so it wasn't "crisis here and crisis there". Some people complain about it, yes, but most who do are people who haven't read any of it, trust me I know. Batgirl is controversial, on one hand, some want their crippled computer genius back to business. Others (like myself) think its time that Barbara is back in action. The read however, outside of the entire debate of "Cassandra vs. Stephanie vs. Barbara" deal is very good. The character development has been great, she goes from this clueless teenager to this independent young adult (well she was a young adult from the start, but whatever) who still makes a lot of mistakes. Her relationship with Nightwing is great, "he with his acrobatics, and me with my ballet". As for Justice League, I've heard nothing but good things about it. Batman is very good (haven't been keeping up with it lately, though) Superman and Wonder Woman is a very good read, Green Lantern: New Guardians, Red Lanterns, Green Lantern Corps, Green Lantern, Justice League Dark, Swamp Thing, Demon Knights (love em!), and Birds of Prey have all been received very positively. If you're not going to give the new 52 a chance, then please don't let that be your reason of not buying DC comics, find a real reason. And BrickG, are you crazy!?! :D Plenty of comics are very much worth the read, plenty! Dark Horse's run on Star Wars (hopefully Marvel can live up to my expectations for them) Marvel's Avengers run, and plenty of other books are excellent! Pick up a bok, I'm sure you won't regret it.

I wonder how many Dwarves they'd be able to fit into a Snow White set, I'd buy one the day of! I'd also like to see some love for Sleeping Beauty, maybe with a dragon? Since Malificient (spell that right?) is getting a movie this year, I'd say the likeliness of Snow White getting a set is very high, but at the same time, we would've heard something by now right? And maybe the dragon is also pushing it... -
Hmm, and here I was thinking the Lotr threads were all inactive, thanks anyways.

Wait, we're getting a witch king set? And a minis tirith? I thought the middle earth sets in summer 2014 were supposed to be Hobbit sets? Wow I need to check out the history forum.

So is it safe to assume they're already available?

Well I'd say speak for yourself, it's very obvious when someones just going along with what someone else says. I love the prequel trilogy Lego sets, especially anything episode 2, I like the prequels but don't know why. But some people just go along with what others say, and sometimes, it's very noticeable. Just like when someone says they hate a Lego set they never bought because most reviewers say so, or when someone who's never read anything out of the new 52 judges it like they have an entire collection, or when someone says they don't like a food they've never tasted because others didn't like it. I agree with your point that the PT had its flaws, no real character development outside of Anakins and Obi-Wan's little fortress of spotlight. Terrible acting, excessive CGI and frequent female cameos without any real female roles, outside of Padme that is. And everything was expected, there wasn't any plot twist to make someone say "wow, even now I'm surprised". But it did have it's good points. The fighting scenes were very good IMO, and at times, the CGI fit in well. I liked the Prequel Trilogy, but not because others say they do. But you can bet your clone trooper that someone (plenty of people really) say they don't because others don't.
