  1. There is still hope. Especially if it is true about TLG extending The hobbit and it being part of an evergreen line. Which would be a natural progression into TLoR. And with hope come dreams which leads to discussion of future TLoR which is why we are here. Otherwise what is the point?
  2. Yeah it might have been a part of,another discussion. All I know is my head hurts keeping track,of it all. I think I'm content to wait for some pics next week.
  3. Am I lost, this is the Future LoTR set discussion correct? And not the Get what you Get LoTR/Get off my lawn discussion? Oh you silly kids.
  4. Ah ha. I see my confusion. A thousand apologies to all. I do yes, sorry if that was not clear. As for Smaug I may have read that elsewhere.
  5. I do see what you are saying about,Gandalf. My Valinor knowledge is lacking. But I will say this obviously there are limits to Gandalf's powers. And perhaps he is more powerful but its hard to judge if doesn't actually use those powers. Also it was my understanding that Nenya, the main source of Galadriel's power was quite great. I guess it could just be the way Tolkien talks about her due to his great fondness of her that makes her seem more powerful than she actually is.
  6. I see, must be why Tolkien wrote The elves, led by Thranduil of Mirkwood and Galadriel of Lorien led an assault on Dol Guldur and Galadriel herself threw down its walls, and laid its pits bare.
  7. As I remember gandalf dies. And being powerful doesn't make one immortal. Lets not forget who wielded Nenya and lays waste to Dol Guldur. I don't remember, does Tolkien talk about Galadriel wearing armor, or is that just PJ?
  8. Galadriel is much more powerful than Gandalf. And she is considered to be the most powerful of the third age.
  9. Yes, but the throne room with the arkenstone represents AUJ. According those who have seen the set there is an arkenstone hanging in the throne room. So unless PJ has changed the fate of the arkenstone it will be buried with Thorin and not end up in the throne room. If this is true then the Lonely Mountain represents more than just TABA and could include anything or anyone from all three movies. While this makes possible for Smaug to be included, it also makes other people who haven't been mentioned such as Thrain possible to be included. If this is indeed the largest set and $130, almost twice the second most expensive set, I find it highly, unlikely it only represents one movie. And there is no reason it cannot represent the whole trilogy since a Lonely mountain set could be used for scenes from all three movies. That also might explain why it's an interior set, and not of the exterior.
  10. Yes that list is not only vague, it also contradicts what others have said. We have heard there are three lake town buildings with Smaug, a bell tower with Smaug and lastly the lonely mountain with Smaug. Why would TLG just make a bell tower and add some figs? I'm not saying Huw is wrong, I think it is highly likely that the dragon was picked up at some point and moved. I also think TLG is being purposely vague in defining the sets since for one the minifigs are missing and there could be other components missing as well. There is also the fact that TABA is not due out for many months and they have a history of keeping things secret. So there could easily be something revealed by the sets that they do not want us to know about yet. It makes sense Smaug is in a lake town set regardless of,whether there are two or three movies. It only makes sense to have Smaug with the lonely mountain with two movies since in TABA, as far as we know, he will only be in lake town. That would also mean the lonely mountain was planned from the beginning and never changed. But TLG has had plenty of time to readjust the third wave to better reflect the movie. While I personally view Smaug as being part of the Lonely Mountain I think that TLG will ultimately put Smaug in a lake town set to give children greater access. Thus leaving Erebor to represent both DOS and TABA, maybe even AUJ as well, which would reflect an original two movie design that is tweaked to fit the three movie reality. There is no reason a set cannot represent more than the wave it is released with.
  11. I think the only thing we know about the bith is we are getting Figrin D'an and two modal nodes.
  12. No actually the band had 5 at a minimum and some times up to seven members. And I don't think people are disappointed about getting the band, they were hoping to also get another new character as well.
  13. That was my first thought as well. But Smaug is going to be extremely popular with children who may or may not care about,Erebor. They would care more about having a dragon to battle it out with Bard and the lake town people. A lower price set with Smaug is going to sell like hot cakes. A higher priced set might be a bit much for some parents to swallow just so their children can get a dragon.
  14. Yes a good way to get you into their store.
  15. I was more referring to the international appeal. Having a group like Spectre as the enemy, and lots of gadgets. Agents sounds more like FBI agents, but I am interested in seeing the sets.
  16. But are assuming that Smaug would have been in a Erebor set before the split. It could be that TLG always planned to have Smaug in a lake town set. Unless of course you know something we don't.
  17. Smaug with the lake town set makes the most sense to me too. I think the problem with the London toy fair display is for,one these sets are not finalized. And because they are not finalized they were not displayed as sets. Everything was just layed out and people made assumptions based on groupings which were not organized. Having seen a photo of the city sets its easy to understand the trouble that people might have had coming up,with sets. I imagine we are not going to know for sure until the New York show.
  18. Yeah I was joking. I certainly like the idea of Agents, but would prefer a more James Bond approach.
  19. Hoth bricks is reporting: Another interesting information, set 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow will be available in preview for members of the VIP program from February 17 to 28. http://www.hothbricks.com/
  20. Didn't they have the sets but were kept a,secret, for some reason? I do believe it was mentioned that there were secret areas this year at the London toy fair.
  21. Yeah I realized after writing that it is unlikely for beorn to be in a poly.
  22. Maybe Beorn will be in a polybag? Maybe not. I could see him being popular with kids but without knowing what exactly he does in TABA it's hard to place him in a set. The Lonely mountain set seems unlikely, so either lake town or Bo5A.
  23. There isn't much difference between those two examples. A molded Smaug is,obviously geared toward children. Where as a brick built Smaug would be directed at AFOL. Just because you buy the brick built version doesn't mean you wouldn't buy the set with the molded one in it. Most likely it would be just the opposite. Not to mention that many here have previously stated a desire for a brick built Smaug. And once we actually see the molded Smaug the desire, for a brick built version could easily return. But it's all academic really, the likelihood of it happening are extremely unlikely. I doubt we will see any d2c for The Hobbit.
  24. Too funny. Lake town started yesterday as being the largest set with 3 buildings including a town hall. Now all there is left is a bell tower. Apparently Smaug has been busy.
  25. I too agree, I,would much rather see a TLoR d2c set. But it's always fun to speculate, however unlikely it may be.
