There is not, if you would like to set one up that is great! The only current limitation is on Eslandolan citizens. The Governor of Terraversa will need to have individual applications. Everyone else is welcome. No, Kingsport was open, its actually the beginning of the whole BOBS story, the rouge governor allowed people from other nations to use the port, which allowed them to sail further east.

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think these are better questions for the Oleon thread not this thread. lol -
A friendly note for those of you who own forts.
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I don't want to rule on that right this second, because we have never discussed changing designations... But... it makes sense in a situation like this. I think we could only convert to residences, that way we don't mess with parity. So no factory to artisan or something like that. Talk to your faction leadership about the removal I think we will have to remove all the forts manually that want removed. I have to do one too. Then purchase the new license. -
There have been some changes regarding properties in the EGS, so make sure to check out the By Land thread! 1) The rules regarding fortresses have been changed. The goal was a more intuitive system, which allows for more diverse defense strategies. Bottom line: No more upgrade requirements, no more settlement size minimum to build certain fort sizes and numbers, only a total number of forts allowed depending on settlement size... but upkeep is to be paid for all forts except those excluded below from March on! The exemption list ( the original NPC forts of each nation) Eslandola: Nova Terreli - one royal fortress Bardo - two large fortresses Weelond - two large fortresses Oleon: Breshaun - two large fortresses Eltina - two large fortresses Corrington: Airlinsport - two large fortresses Sea Rats: Bastion - two large fortresses In order to ease the transition, forts that are no longer wanted can be decommissioned for 100% of their construction costs (DB go to the current owner) until the March MCRA deadline (Mar. 5th). This includes the starting fortresses. Forts that are to remain where they are but require a change of owner, should be listed by the faction leaders, so we can handle the necessary adjustments in a coordinated fashion behind the scenes. 2) The old 'license two properties per month in two locations, or three in one' rule has been replaced with a 'flat three' solution. So you can license three properties in whatever settlement you want. And prospecting scenes are still not defined as properties - mines are, as only those are listed in the 'Types of Properties' section. 3) Changes have also been made regarding the influence of properties on settlements. 4) And the whole thread has been cleaned up a bit.

Actually, I would love this -- makes it easier on me. No, the list should still have where your troops are currently. But, if you want to make it known so that there is less of a chance I miss it, that is fine too. I don't think we actually have a official requirements for settlement threads... perhaps we need one? The in game explanation would be the men could be shifted, also the chance of ships sailing in front of the other fort on the way to the raid, etc... it is a game mechanic that could be explained a few different ways in character. Should have waited and just said KB's got this one. -
Make sure that any settlement page is updated with the forts that are in that settlement, or forts that are within protection range of the settlement. This is important for raids, and if we miss a fort because it is not on the settlement page. Ooops, I guess your guys were too drunk to protect the settlement!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Agreed with Kai here. Temporary sigfig is fine for now! -
Corrington would welcome you home with open arms. We love a good exploration expedition, grand monumental building, order and some controlled chaos, and we are very proud of our navy and its individual captains. Also, we have a pretty hefty trade apparatus, and a pretty successful trade record, although our trade fleet is a bit smaller than the other imperial nations (but we are smaller in active players). Our Navy is strong though.

Better win that war then, buddy! They have a much more viable fleet a year later. The civil war is over as well. There is a mechanic for all of this as well. They also get money to spend each "turn" (MRCA) they are at war (the same as PC nations do, just really not as much). They bought more ships instead of forts. :P

That was a mistyping for me... should be 4A, all 3T should be 3T2, since 3T is not a very good ship. Yes, I am going to guess at the moment, as we would not have enough time for questions if we just put out the new rules right now, nor are they 100% done. Most likely Feb 5th deadline for entry to MRCA FEB 17. I think you will see that there are. People will begin to pay DBs and PIPS toward adventures. Convoy upkeep and ship upkeep, not to mention fort upkeep will also start draining gold. Faction actions will drain FIPs, and then we may see a need for people to buy Influence points from individuals and companies for gold. The economy should right itself with the second level of rules. Right now there is just a lot of gold to be made as the large ships are out there doing long runs. There could have been more pirates I suppose... They captured Strumpet.
-
Maybe another person who has access to the sheets can confirm this, but I don't have a form for Island Rose, when did you submit? Nothing, KB addressed this correctly. It will matter in the new system, but not now. Plus, some of those deaths were story deaths. KB covered some of this. Yes, they are Orange or Yellow, but also have infamous "Blackcoats" that was written somewhere... So that might be an option as well. Assume they are larger than a 5HA That is why we rewrote the MRCA so this doesn't spit out this way. The upkeep on ships will be prohibitive, and cargo values will be decreased. However, the original intention of the rules was for trade to be dangerous... there just are not a lot of unescorted ships any more. Even with powerful pirates. Also, two sources of privateers this MRCA were busy directing attacks and not picking off merchants. They have stats, sail them how you want. Assume that they are bigger than a 5HA.

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s most reliable source for shipping news. JANUARY 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 8 WAR COMES TO THE FAR REACHES OF CIVILIZATION! Much news comes about the waging war between Eslandola, our governor, Garvey, and Prio against our former liege, the King of Mardier. From the papers in MARDIER: Our glorious King Alphonse XIII has struck a mighty blow at the pitiful Eslandolans and Garvans! The Prime Minister has declared that all public bells be rung 30 times starting at noon on January 18th in honor of our many glorious victories. Which included victories over the following Eslandolan towns in the New World: Trador, Puerto Alijo, Salida Este, Fuerte Unido, Nova Terreli, Elysabethtown. It is said that the Crown has made enough in plunder to upgrade its fortresses at Calisto, and Kingsport once the rebelling governor’s forces are subdued there. Unfortunately, due to financial hardships in Calisto, it seems that nearly 90 gold has gone unaccounted for. From the paper in PRIO: Duke Alex has once again thwarted the Mardierian Scourge! A fleet of vessels belonging to King Alphonse showed up on our horizon on the 14th inst. The Duke called all ablebodied seamen to defend the port, and an engagement ensued. They lost their flagship before turning back. We lost some brave sailors, but the guns of Fort Prio were able to drive away the enemy. Huzzah! From the papers in ESLANDOLA: Today is a black day for our country. Word has come from the Far Seas that many of our settlements were raided by our enemy Mardier. King Alphonse’s navy hit many of our smaller settlements and Nova Terrelli. Any eyewitness account of the battle of Terrelli Bay gave a report of the following: On the 6th inst. the Crimson Fleet, MARDIER’s most famous fleet sailed to this port. The defenses of this city were in impeccable shape, and our royal fortresses began firing as soon as the enemy was in range. It happened that the Garvey Second Fleet was stationed in our port taking on provisions. This was lucky, as the Crimson Fleet is quite large, and the Garvians sailed to meet it. A combined effort of Eslandolans and Garvans were able to repel the Crimson Fleet, causing our enemy many casualties, including three smaller ships. Garvey had no ships lost. Mayor Fontonajo gave a rousing speech the next morning to all of the town. We will not be broken! Other good news includes our forces catching a MARDIERIAN Trade convoy fleet. The good news is tinted with poor news, Nova Terrelli was the only port of ours that successfully repelled attackers. In Puerto Alijo, on the 1st inst. Mardier forces made off with a prominent citizen, Mrs. Jasmyn Cuervo and a small amount of cash. In Trador, the mighty trade settlement of MAESTRO, few defenses left a few soldiers dead, and over 75 gold plundered! A similar story in Salida Este, where the Gold Fleet of Mardier made port on the 25th last. On the 30th last, the coward pirate L’Olius under Mardier flags raided Fuerte Unido, did some damage and took a large share of the town bank with him. Pontelli was sacked by the Blue Fleet of Mardier on the 21st last, losing a large share of money, and the poorly defended Elysabethtown was visited by the Yellow Fleet on the 1st inst. In all total, at least 400 gold has been stolen from Eslandolan coffers and over 150 are dead. The nation must act! From the papers in GARVEY: A glorious raid, a glorious victory, but two devastating raids on our possessions beyond the line have made for an eventful month. We fared nearly as bad as our allies, losing 200 gold to the Mardierian war machine. At the writing of this paper, Freeport is still under occupation by the 7th Mardier Regiment. The infamous “Bulldogs”. King Leopaldis surely will avenge this and rescue our poor brethren across the ocean! However there is good news! We were able to stop the Mardierm Menace from taking our ally’s port Nova Terrelli! We also raided Calisto and found fortune in the Prio seas! Raided Settlements DB Lost Soldiers killed Civilians killed Notes ESL Trador 77 2 0 Raided by small MAR fleet consisting of five vessels. Puerto Alijo 4 0 0 Raided by MAR privateer "Le Penguin". Jasmyn Cuervo taken prisoner Salida Este 64 2 7 Raided by the Gold Fleet of MAR. Pontelli 92 5 13 Pontelli's trade value is not the same as listed on the index, it is only 110 in the official records. Raided by the "Blue Fleet" of MAR Fuerte Unido 71 25 37 Raided by L'Olius , battle fleet of 10 vessels, 1 MAR regiment the 14th Regiment, "The Golden Sons" Nova Terreli 0 42 15 Repelled the MAR "Crimson Fleet" with the help of GAR "2nd Fleet" Elysabethtown 102 11 0 Raided by MAR "Yellow Fleet" TOTAL 410 87 72 GAR Freeport 210 120 100 Occupied by the 7th MAR regiment "Bulldogs" Leopaldis 87 25 30 Attacked by MAR "Orange Fleet" MAR Calisto 89 23 16 Raided by the GAR 1st Fleet Prio Alexport 0 15 0 Defended against minor MAR fleet SHIPPING NEWS Plot on merchant captains around the New World? We have many reports of mutinies this month. From a sickly tale aboard the Black Marlin, to other mutinies upon vessels of all nations. One keen observer has pointed out that this seems very much like the fabled secret kabal, known as the Inspireritti, bent on world domination. Indeed the knife found lodged in the captain of the Black Marlin had their motto inscribed upon it “victoria aut clade refert, in fine virtus regit.” No reports of Inspiritti artifacts on the Empty Barrel, but it seems that there was a strange pamphlet found on El Rubi. LORD OF THE SEA RETURNS! The Seas are no longer safe from Poseidon’s Wrath! It is true that he has unleashed his pet beastie upon us all once again. Such was the sight in the scourge of 359, where many documented witness to the almighty Kraken. He has been let loose again, and now, in the middle of the Drolitic Ocean, he feasts on the ships of all nations. Numerous sightings confirm some sort of water demon, and three vessels paid the ultimate price this month. Filo Morado (ESL), États de Cauzac (OL), Esprit Royal (OL) all went to the bottom to satisfy this creature’s hunger. Our recommendation – stay on dry land! MAESTRO Goes Rogue! This tantalizing bit of information was passed on to us… Dear Lord Damaximus, I don't think it is necessary that we take steps to incorporate the East Trade Wind Company into our own mighty Trade Company. The ETWC being a tiny, itsy bitsy trade company made up of Eslandolan merchants who don't know a Doubloon from a two-pence and who have made about enough DBs trading in the MRCA as Unrigged Nordau's parrot, I don't see any benefit. Even more, I think that it would only lower our own capability to trade and make money. On top of that, they would be of no use of our struggle against the King, since the ETWC troops in Fuerte Unido can barely tell the sharp side of a sword from their's mum's broom, and are more often found in the hospital then on the battlefield. They'd cost more to maintain then they could ever loot! Yours sincerely, Lady Elysabeth of Drondil It seems that Lady Elysabeth was correct, seeing how poorly the settlement defended itself against MAR. Editors Column: The Queen gave birth to a baby with horns! Queen Annetta has been shamed again! We can only consider this to be Poseidon’s curse for hating Oleon. Nobody knows if this baby really exists, but the baby is said to have been whisked from port and sent to its true father, King Fernando. Skaford Heights to be Purchased by OLEON! It has been said in these parts that OLEON is so rich that they plan on buying the island known as Skaford Heights from MARDIER to end the war between ESLANDOLA and King Alphonse. Great Civilization of Gold found in the Safehaven Region! One intrepid sailor who was aboard one of the first voyages to the Safehaven region has brought us tales of a city there made of so much gold, the entire economy of Eslandola could not match that amount in a year! The sailor has yet to divulge where the city is, but when he does, this paper will be folding and we will be moving to strike it rich on that island! Mines do not count as properties in a settlement, as they are rarely in a settlement. 1) The rule existed to encourage people to build in one spot instead of skipping around too fast so that there were larger settlments. 2) The limitations on ships were designed to keep people from growing their navies too fast. This kind of limitation is for game balance and in a non-automated MRCA to allow for it to be easier to roll all of those ships participating. The reason for property limitations was covered by a few people already, but this was to keep from creating a gigantic fortune in property too quickly. Property is guaranteed income, shipping, as some of you will find out tonight, is not. 3) There will probably always be a limitation, but some wiggle room might come out with the skill and card system. (yes, another teaser...) if you wait until next month to license it, per the rules.... but yeah, it was salt. Also on mining... You CAN technically pay a ton of start up costs to speculate, then MOC and license the ones you like. There is no limited on speculation mocs in a month, just actual licenses.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well, I am of a different perspective on this, as long as you build the settlement in an open place, then I say go ahead. But, as others said, we have a lot of towns to build in if you want to just build in a Kaliphlin city. -

Like every other MRCA, there needs to be a form for each ship. (this allows us to make a complete list of what has sailed) The convoy form make it less information that needs to be entered in that form though, as the convoy forms tell us where the convoy is going. -

SkaForHire replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
It has worked before, Challenge V, book 1 was the same way, Z won, so his story became cannon, although many people wrote stories. Maybe we could come up with a cleaner resolution... Thinking about that, I think in my story for that challenge I said that there were many Revolwords, and all the stories were leading to killing one... so then it was all canon! lol. But really, it is kind of like a series of myths about the great war to remove ravage, over time there are going to be different stories, some true, some exaggerated, some completely false! -
Book II Challenge V Prelude: The Desert Tournament
SkaForHire replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Since Dugal's armies have killed at least one pretender king of Historica already (battle of the wither woods link here), there must be some real confidence that this new heir is true. However, perhaps there is a chance that the Desert King falls on his own sword in the battle to help the resistance, and the High Council regain its rightful place. Since the war has been over, Dugal's main mission was to keep civilian blood from shedding throughout Kaliphlin while still the East remains its independence. -

Hello everybody! We are running an MRCA for December a little later than December! The deadline is January 5th, 2017 at midnight anywhere in the world. For this MRCA, there are no combined island totals, but those may return at a later date. All those wishing to sail with a Letter of Marc from either ESL or MAR, may post it here. (If you want to keep it a secret, then message me, and copy Bregir in on the message, unless you are hunting Bregir, then don't do that) We have an updated map and a new set of trade values, beautifully displayed by KB: Click for HR Happy Sailing!
