Eurobricks Event 2017 - Sign Up Topic
Calanon replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
In my drunken bored state I decided to count and it seems 22 people booking a room and 23 for event in total so far. So not super super far off. But definitely more room for more. If anyone is reading this and wondering if they should: well worth it, great fun and everyone is lovely and friendly. Now I'll go and sober up. -
It's pretty cool that they're named even if for battle packs I usually prefer unnamed characters. They're minor enough anyway. Now, if only Calfor had his beard... If the trooper in the AT-ST had been Corporal Tonc and the trooper from the TIE Striker was Sgt Melshi that would have been really great.

This is a very lovely looking build. One way I would suggest improving it is to give the shrubberies some texture on the front, the texture on the building itself is great but they look flat in comparison. Is there a back to it?

Fully aware. But I remembered something someone saying, it might have been you, that Brits are welcome too and I asked Peppy. -

That would explain why one of them has nearly 2000 orange phase I clone trooper helmets for sale... -
This looks pretty good, although there are a few things I plan on doing a bit differently. I'll probably just straight up use Tarkin's torso and modify the colours as appropriate.

Eurobricks Event 2017 - Final Dates and Location
Calanon replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I should be arriving at precisely 16:00 on Wednesday so I'll join you. EDIT: I can't seem to find a LUG to join. The only UK-wide one I can find is the Brickish Association but I've been told bad things about that group and you have to post a cheque in. Don't seem to be any in the south of England outside of London. -

Well, over Christmas I did end up looking again and it seems there is a very weird thing with the dates. So, I should be able to attend this! -
What are your favorite LEGO Star Wars sets from 2016?
Calanon replied to jdm44's topic in LEGO Star Wars
#1 Krennic's Shuttle - I initially wasn't too keen on it, but I loved building it. Great minifig selection and looks amazing, especially in flight mode. #2 TIE Striker - What can I say? I'm a sucker for TIEs and this is no exception. Needs a bit of modding for me to be happy with, but ah well. It's really nice and has a good minifig selection. #3 Vader's Tie Advanced vs A-wing - As above, I'm a sucker for TIEs. Maybe a bit expensive, but I got it in America so it was cheaper for me. Honestly, if it came with Sabine's helmet and Tarkin was movie-style (grey uniform, newer design of code cylinders, no weird triangles on collar) it would be #2 #4 Combat assault (hovertank) - Honestly, I wanted this as soon as I saw it. There are a few downsides and it's the one I'm going to scrap and rebuild, but I still really like it as a set. A sergeant would have been nice though. Honorary mention: Galatic Empire Battlepack - SHOCKTROOPERS! If the two jumptroopers didn't have battle damage and the shocktrooper had dual-moulded legs (lower half being red) it would have been perfect. -
Well, it initially started as a hovertank. And they changed it later. It is canon that there is a hover variant but there are mines that specifically target hover vehicles. Tracks also increase stability when transporting precious cargo.

Yeah, they used that to make the Occupier for the film. It would probably be fairly simple to DarthPineapple's moc to make this.
-
But perhaps even more inspired by the British Alvis Stormer. ;)

Looks very good! I really like how you did the top hatch. I would suggest moving the clip to the left of the tank as this would be more accurate. Can it fully fit all three crew members?
-
I tried to use that, but I found it too brief to really be useful unfortunately. My main problem is accurately tracing and existing design and then doing everything with layers. When I try and trace curves it just goes... well... all wrong really. I'm not planning on making any totally new designs yet, just variations of existing ones.

I'm trying to learn to design & create custom torsos, however the excellent guide by ED-209 no longer has any pictures since the forum was upgraded. Is it possible for someone to help me to learn or to point me in the direction of another guide that I could use?

[WIP] Galen Erso decals (now with face)
Calanon replied to Cody Startale's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Looks good. Only thing I would say is that it might look more accurate to have less skin exposed on the top. -

I think the answer there is he should be Bricklinked for the greater good of all us without Zeb. -
You can use imgur on mobile and just upload and copy the url onto here.

Whoooooooppsssssss. Yeah, I read Catalyst. It definitely gives a good insight into the relationship between Orson, Galen and Lyra as well as why they need Galen. Saw is involved near the end. It's a good book and I would definitely recommend it for the added depth. Don't expect any action though.

I imagine it flashing up as "Vader's Sanctum, Mustafar" would spoil the reveal somewhat. Jyn's not Force-sensitive. Also, with the deleted scenes it's because, as Gareth Edwards said in an interview, the original ending before re-shoots involved Jyn and Cassian surviving. The transports aren't unarmed. If you want to know how Bail knows about Obi-Wan, rewatch the end of Return of the Jedi.

I can't find any name or backstory or anything for the light-grey uniformed officer though. I did find the Legends name for one of the ISB officers who walk by though when I had a quick look.
