"Even if you end up at the bottom of the ocean?" Miderun blinked between Luke and Tom. Her red eyes narrowed at the latter. "Is that so?"

Atramor blinked, then frowned. "Oh, hell. That's the damn crown then, isn't it? I don't like undead. The dead should just, well stay dead. What the hell are the corpses here even bein' used for? What needs maintaining?" -

"Huh. Well, I can appreciate not likin' undead. Hell, if I was in your situation I wouldn't just be sittin' by and lettin' myself be controlled. Tell ya' what. We'll put all of you outta your undead misery, then we'll see if we can't get someone else to guard this place," offered Atramor diplomatically. He then looked sideways at the paladins. They at least had the right idea about the dead. "Think your Order could manage this place without the undead?" -
I forgot Ellaria used her Scroll of Inspiration. She now has 9 ether, but is inspired. The Baron stared at Hybros for a moment, then shifted in place, standing his ground despite the commanding tone of the chi monk. "I appreciate your concern, but I refuse to let my people be compromised by the threats of fools like these." "It's by my blessing the doctor begins his drilling here. I owe a debt to Heroica on behalf of my town, but I will not stand by and let these assassins take what they want." "I promised him asylum from his pursuers years ago. This town has for centuries been a safe haven for the shorter folk of the world. What does it say about me and my town if I allow them to take one of my citizens?" "He's not one of your citizens, he's one of our assassins. He swore himself to our order. Only death can break that oath." "We've gotten by for years without relying on the surface world for help. The only time I hired Heroica it was because your previous help led indirectly to the situation that put us in danger. Posco is part of our town now, whatever he was in the past. I will not allow my town to be threatened by thugs like these." The Baron turned towards Hybros, his gaze hard. "When you first came to Zylstra I offered you a new life. That's about all my town can offer; a place where one can leave the past behind. Is that promise worth a hundred gold to you?" "....That's...reasonable. Baron-" "We are a community Posco, whatever these fools bring down upon our town, we will all weather it as one." Alzar, Blue Assassin Master *Hastened* *Immune to blinded, weakened, asleep, and stunned* Level 144 Dark Humanoid Health: 1010/1010 Defense: 15 Special I: Bladestorm - Alzar rains the party with throwing knives, doing 30 damage, ignoring row to each of them. Special II: Cloaked in Darkness - Alzar becomes invisible, becoming unable to be targeted for the duration of the round. At the beginning of the next round, he will pull the hero that rolled Special Damage into the darkness, causing them to be Confused and dealing 20 darkness-elemental damage to them over five rounds, ignoring row and defense. Specials alternate. Passive Special I: Deflect – Successful attacks on Alzar have a 1/6 chance of being deflected to a random ally. Passive Special II: Teamwork - Alzar is Hastened until the Sorcerer is defeated. Drops: 400 gold Blue Assassin Sorcerer *Lucky* *Ranged* *Absorbs Lightning* *Immune to sealed and asleep* Level 98 Electric Humanoid Health: 606/606 Ether: 5/5 Special I: Static - Blue Assassin Sorcerer generates a lightning storm at the cost of 1 ether. Heroica RPG - Quest #108: Message in a Bag-of-Holding

"Oppressors? Who the hell do ya' think you are?" snapped Atramor, Pheles Kris held at the ready. -
Posco looked from Hybros to the Blue Assassins and back again without answering. "...Death would be too easy for defying the Blue Assassins. But I won't see this town suffer just to let me die in peace."' "Don't know. What do you want to me to say? It sounds like you're not even interested in the old bastard here. If that's the case, 100 gold to each of you for the halfling. He spent nearly a century working for the Blue Assassins, and was damn good at it. Never hesitated to take down his target. But once, he failed. And like everyone else, failure of a contract means termination. He's managed to evade us for a decade or so now. Took quite a while to find him. So what say I fatten your wallets and stop distracting you, hmm?" The gnome, who appeared to be the Baron of Zylstra, scoffed. "Hmph. It sounds as though your 'organization' lacks accountability. Perhaps training you men better would lead to less failed jobs." The assassin, Alzar, stared for a moment. "You're defending this ex-assassin who's putting your entire town at risk? Even in the event you best us, the man in red is quite right, our group will not stop hunting this little rat down. Cooperate, and we have no reason to disrupt this place any further." "We take care of our own. Heroes, I demand you put these assassins down at once." "Idiot. Kill us I can't promise the next assassins that find this town will be as reasonable. And they will find this town."
-
"We're not here to attack you," explained Miderun, sounding a bit annoyed, but far from hostile. "We're part of Heroica. We're here to help your town with its berry problem. Some people mentioned you were missing so we came out here to find you. They're concerned. Apparently for good reason." The orc nodded towards the tiny rowboat. "Where I come from we have no ships. Every year a few orcs try to escape to better lands on boats like these. We never end up hearing from them again. What are you expecting to find when you leave this island?"
-
I generally wait until a majority players have spoken up, and I forgot to bold my vote.
-
"Accurate enough. Let's go find the Zents."
-
How does any of that keep you from using Flickr?
-
"...No. I didn't. I should've been...." The halfling grit his teeth, but could't seem to find any more words. Alzar shrugged, and removed his sword from the Baron's collar. "Good to see you're willing to be reasonable. I'm not interested in anything but my target. Today, that's old Posco here."
-
"They couldn't just hunt for themselves?" Miderun questioned, looking puzzled. "Why are they out there then? Sarkual..."
-
Why not use Flickr?

"I'll wait to see what kind of monsters end up pouring out of the earth before crossing anyone. Consider it my way of being thankful for your help." "Heh, don't get too curious while you're down there." "Aye. I had firsthand experience with those dead elves. It's not worth whatever ye're looking for, but I'll defer to the heroes on that." "Always got more booze milady." "Indeed, but, er, we really should be going. The Baron's probably already at the dig site." Moke tipped his hat to Vinum and headed for the door. Posco got off his barstool, his bones creaking audibly as he grabbed his stick and hobbled out after him. "Good luck to ye heroes! If you find anything nasty down there again...well, make sure to kill it real good before it gets up here, eh?" Melvin laughed nervously as the party filed out after Moke and Posco. The gnome led the party out of the well-lit cistern Zylstra was based in. They zigzagged through some additional sewers, these also dry and clearly old. Ancient, even, compared to the rest of the sewers. At last, they found the end of their current tunnel, and came upon a strange sight. An enormous, sleek drilling machine hovered over the ground, but was motionless for the time being. A strange, wooden construct sat between it and a control console. Daneeka stood at the controls, but didn't seem to be working with them. He instead tilted his head towards the three figures in front of the wooden device, clearly intending for the heroes to take care of whatever issue sat in wait for them. Moke blinked. "I-Is that the Baron? Oh dear.." The three figures (and the device) came into detail as the heroes moved closer. "-case I haven't been clear, being an obstacle to the Blue Assassins has proven to be quite unhealthy." The turbaned figure held a sword casually to the throat of an angry-looking gnome in a glorious hat. "In case I've been unclear, disrupting my town has proven to be a mistake few get the chance to repeat. Take your pet and leave. Our affairs are none of your concern." "That's where you're incorrect, my dear gnome." The figure tilted its head to the party. Even under his facemask, the heroes could see a smile stretch across his face. "Oh, here we are. For so long spent avoiding us Padfoot, you seem eager to greet us." The old halfling's weathered face paled, but his expression only got more furious. "Alzar." "You remember me. Good. Then you'll remember the Code we swear by. It's one simple rule, my old friend: get the job done." The assassin looked away briefly, towards the heroes. "Excuse me. I should've expected the aging rat would surround himself with mercenaries. Luckily we're a tad more flexible than some other assassins. How much is it going to take for you to leave the old man to us?"
-
"And if the Zents are killed while we worry over the color of berries?" remarked Miderun bluntly.
-
Miderun looked around the nearly deserted town curiously as they climbed off the ship. "They just abandoned your town because the money ran out? That's quite a luxury." She shook her head, glancing between Daniel and Lacy. "It sounds like the missing woman is a more pressing matter than your berries, though I don't see any reason why we couldn't handle both in the time that we're here."
-
Speaking of which, as a rogue, Bobby should only have 7 health. Miderun glanced between her questmates after they all introduced themselves and chatted among one another, then turned and nodded to the tailor. "I'm ready to leave."
-
Miderun pulled the gloves on, stretching her fingers underneath them and ensuring it didn't hinder her ability to use Serstyral. "These will do."
-
"Probably not. Baltarok is all brown and black and green. I can't imagine why some mage would want to ruin your village, and if so, why they're doing it in such an unspectacular manner. It would be easier to just burn it to the ground. There must be something more going on here." Miderun took a quick look around. "So I take it we're just waiting for that one weird guy."
-
Miderun managed to find her way back to the docks with little issue, having arrived there not a few weeks ago. She nods to Morris, her arms crossed. "Miderun. Orc. I understand you're having some sort of trouble with the berries for your dye? Any idea what's causing the problem? And how are we getting all the way down to Tridentia? Have you hired a ship already?"

I meant the other Decamon cards are just animals.
