"I already signed up. Given what these people accomplish it would not surprise me. Baltarok is far in the west, across the sea and behind the High and the Low Kingdoms. It is the land of orcs and their kin, ever under the favor and sightless eyes of Tarok." Miderun tugged down her mask slightly to sip her drink again, a reminiscent smile on on her face despite the would-be intimidating fangs. "It is an extremely dangerous place to live, but it is our place."
-
Miderun blinked, and sat down on a nearby barstool, pulling a drink over quietly and sipping from it. "I understand. Thank you in any case for the aid, Givrahkdalgir." She glanced over at Polly struggling to reach the quest board and write down her name. "So, I suppose you'll be staying awhile, then?"
-
Miderun continued to stare hard, as though she was looking for an answer and was unsatisfied with his. "But why Baltarok? Why orcs? The High Kingdoms called for aid as well. But our call was also answered."
-
"I am Miderun." The orc bowed slightly. "Ash dir givrahk lan zar ei vohl. You may have tired of hearing this but all of Baltarok is in your debt. I feared I may never get the chance to thank any of you, this Hall is emptier than I would have anticipated. If I may ask - why did the six of you answer the call to serve Baltarok all the way on this island, where corruption already runs deep?"
-
Miderun waved briefly at Polly as she tried to converse with what looked like a long-rotting corpse chatting with the assassin from earlier. The assassin who- what was his name again? Daric...no, Dyric? The orc blinked hard, and immediately walked over to the group. "Polly. Zombie." She greeted each of them with nods, then turned to Dyric. He did look familiar. "Are you Rone?"

I counted yesterday and I think the gender ratio was somewhere around 60:15. I'm just channeling the spirit of Olegaia's most stylish halfling. Both Atramor and Miderun I focus on stats and roleplaying equally. Miderun's likelier to give up or throw a quest for some reason or other, though.

"We're part of Heroica, it's our job to do what everyone else would die doin'. Look, we're here to rescue everyone left alive in here, Greenhood got a message to the outside and, well, here we are. There's a boatload of undead outside and we need to know which doors have our stuff in them so we can get you and everyone else outta here." -

"Quit whinin', we took care of a fair chunk of undead and we can sure as hell handle the rest as soon as we know where our stuff is. Mogwai, what are you squawkin' about? What door are ya' lookin' for?" -

"Well, it'll do." Atramor remained behind the rest of the party, guarding the door, although the Pheles Kris was levelled at the vulture man. "Hold it, Beakface. Nobody else is dyin' in here. Who are you both and why are you wavin' swords at eachother?" -

Atramor instead stacks the 16-tooth gears on top of eachother and uses the extra axle to set the 12-tooth gear between them and the 8-tooth gear. I can tell this probably isn't the solution you had in mind but I used all pieces and it works damn it. -

Atramor affixes a 12-tooth gear on top of the 40-tooth gear, a 16-tooth gear on top of the 12-tooth gear, and the 8-tooth gear on the final axle. The 36-tooth turns the 12-tooth gear three times, which turns the 40-tooth gear underneath it three times, which turns the other 12-tooth ten times, which turns the 16-tooth gear on top of it ten times, which turns the 8-tooth gear twenty times. -

Same here. Also, colored text now comes in handy for once.

"Vahlsral. Little one, in my tongue. And there's more dangers in the world than just magic." Miderun frowned under her hood, and held her bandaged arm out for Polly to see. "A wyvern did this. He was an ugly meldsuul, and had no magic, but was at least a few times the size of an ogre. Very dangerous. I was eager to impress for my rite of passage. I brought back his head, but I learned an important lesson. One everyone should learn, but preferably not the way I did." She sat straight again as another hero approached. He actually vaguely reminded her of that wyvern, minus all the threatening bits. Miderun watched him try and fidget intimidatingly, unimpressed. "Yes, we were in the middle of a conversation. My name is Miderun. Why do you label yourself so excessively? Is that a human trait?" She glanced momentarily at Polly, as if expecting her to answer, then just looked back up at Benji. "Typically we orcs display our prowess by destroying our enemies, not by scratching up our weapons and armor."
-
"I'm not a sellsword...I'm not here for money. If I can help, I'd be happy to, but I really don't think taking on an ogre at your age is a good idea." Miderun looked to the bar and grabbed her drink again, then thought better of it, turning back to Polly. "Really, though, why's a valhsral like yourself hunting bounties in a hall of champions?"

So the 36-tooth gear turning once has to rotate the final axle twenty times? -
"No, no, of course not. I've just seen plenty of ogres in my life. They tend to be pretty tough. And big. And fairly intelligent for their size."
-
Miderun scratched her head. "Have you ever actually seen an ogre?"
-
I mentioned to JimBee that I thought second characters would be on the whole built on even more creative ideas given how much experience their players have acquired. We're only two in and I still think that will prove to be accurate. You don't get to start with a Tonic, though.

"Well....yes," admitted Miderun, somewhat surprised by the child's resoluteness. "But the things people do here, the places they go, they're...they're not really places for eight-year-olds. I mean, I've done some ridiculous stuff as a kid....but I've seen firsthand what these warriors are capable of. It's not something to be taken lightly. And that's coming from an orc."
-
Miderun pushed her half-empty mug of away. The drink was delicious, but found too much of it seemed to worsen her senses. She'd just pulled her cowl back up over her mouth as she caught movement in the corner of her eye, and found herself looking down at easily the smallest figure in the Hall she'd yet seen, at something of a loss. There were human children working as heroes? No, that couldn't possibly be right. "Kid," she began, before noting the typical rough tone of an orc and trying to soften it up as she continued. "I'm not quite sure you're in the right place..."

Atramor looks down at the floor, checking to see if the round gray objects were in fact loose gears.
