Lego Whirligig
JunkstyleGio replied to Diamabolo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Three of my favorite things.... 1) no cars, cranes or boats! 2) Lots of axles and connectors! 3) Movement without engines! Brilliant! -

Build this one without stickers and some minor color changes. I did put the 857-1 in front of it! 43 years of lego fun!

@williamyzfr1 You can get (well reserve it when it come to the stores on march 1st.) the set already here in the Netherlands for €159,99. I do think It will drop in price to at least 145... @Johnny1360 The panels on the leftside were left out on purpose.. Just look at the real model. Left and right side of the bike are slightly different. For me personally: I made some changes to the colouring as I do not use the stickers. I do not think the stickers add anything to a model and they are usually used as a easy design choise for brick-built alternatives.

I was in 1977 in total awe with the 852 Helicopter. (I was 15 then..) It was a completely new LEGO experience! (there were only 13 technic parts the first year..) I still got it and when i look at it I get the same feeling as it did then.. From the last few years it all looks the same. Maybe this years 42130 BMW M1000 RR makes me as happy now as the helicopter did then. (Build without stickers of course.)

First of all: Thanks to milan for this great review! Excellent reading material and very informative! This BMW has completely passed me by in earlier discussions... So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the final model. I had actually lost interest in the Technic line. This was because so many models had come out that didn't seem interesting to me at all. But anyway: this model is great. The size hudge and the technical building challenge looks great. I must have it! Maybe it seems from the various reviews I have read so far, that it is not the most innovative set, but I don't care: this is Love At First (second and third) Sight. (Thanks to Sariel, Racingbrick and Zusammengebaut for their video reviews too )

@DrJB I'm one of the "dinosars" who actually used the typewriter. I typed all of the all of the 50 pages of my thesis on a model like this. (And 100s of pages more..) I'm up to "baggies 6" and really really loving it so far. A brilliant combo of technic and system!

Something like this? @Jim I did not have any expectations for this model yet TLG seem to have added functions to the original design and they did a great job! So: Expectations in advance 3/10 Expactations after seeing your review 8/10 Points after building Still waiting for the results... (Still waiting for my copy....)

Thanks for the review! It is as good and clear as any review you have done before. So a big thank you to you. @Jim. As some may know, I am not an avid Systems builder, but a Technic-man, so I was very pleased with the interior. It looks beautiful.(I don't object to some repetitive subbuilds, because Lego is "zen" to me)! The finished model has an instant memory and will find a place in my display case. The price may be a bit much, but I just had my "holiday pay", so it's time to spend some of it. I can't wait to get my hands on this set!
