Don't think it would be wise to place any pictures of preliminary models on this site!
Even when they are available on other sites.
Please use with caution!
@ Anio:
Venting your opinion as the truth is getting boring!
I would love to see you write something with a little more positive attitude!
For one thing i doubt if you have even built the model yourself or even took the time to read the Building Instructions.
The gearbox for instance is not used to drive the pick-up but to switch between winch and fork. A very nice feature with this gearbox is that the handle is placed in the cabine.
You and others are right about the obvious (and missing of a hinging) fork and winch, but what else would you get on a tow-truck and comparing them with better/different versions from the past is crazy because most of those sets aren't available anymore...
The set itself has so many parts because there are over a hundred axles and more than two-hundred pins and has lots of other parts to give the set this much extra details that makes it a fun set to look at.
One more thing: the pricetag for the 9395 is a bit steap, but if you shop around you might get it lots cheaper! (I've seen prizes down to €43,95 here in the Netherlands..)
So just that's it... and my opinion...
Ad here we go again. Humor(?) is in the eye of the beholder?
I really like the 9395 Pick-up Tow Truck set. For several reasons:
1)Great looks,
2)Highly playable,
3)Interesting build,
4)Big and sturdy model,
5)Lots of parts.
This set is obviously made for the "American" market. So with that in mind you might take another look at it.
And i've said it before:
LEGO is a kids toys and most sets are designed to please children; if it pleases AFOLs that is a bonus.
and if you don't like it: don't buy it or rebuild it into something else. (The power of imagination)
Got the set for €69,95 at a warehouse (V&D) in the Netherlands. (But had a few coupons so I payed a lot less...)
There are a lot of webstores who will sell you the set for a lesser amount. That is worth the wait because at €49,05 or less it is totally worth the money.
The motor is placed directly on the rear of the vehicle so that's a bit of a setback.
As you can see I got me already the minimog and the plane and quad will arrive soon....
It very well designed and has stunning looks!
The functions all have been done before but the the operating switch in the cabine is a very nice touch.
Highly playable and lots of parts.
Building the set is great up to the point when the chassis is finished.
From that point it was like "running home" to me....
The telephone number of "Fred's Garage" is nice little joke...
Hi Edwin!
Welcome at EB.
Hope to see much more images on this brilliant UniMOC!
Do you have them available at flickr, Brickshelf, Facebook, MOC-pages? More than enough possibilities.
