  1. Well, I had decided not to buy another one, and I ordered some PAB parts I need to get the little castle promo. But then it went on back order, which means budgeting for the set is a problem for future me. So I placed another order to get 10305. In my defense, it does come with two GWPs that I can sell to recoup some of the cost, especially since the Majisto set is so horrible. Maybe someday I'll sell the minifigures too because I already have way more of them than I'll ever need, but it will probably be hard to do as long as they're on PAB. I'm excited to build this one again. Of all the "nostalgia" sets we've gotten over the past year and a half, this is the one they really knocked out of the park. It's so satisfying to play with once it's built, especially because of the way it folds up.
  2. I'm also torn on this. I would really like to have a copy to keep separated from my bulk parts, but even with this great deal, it's a lot of money that I otherwise would be spending on bulk parts, which are much more useful and I get more enjoyment from. But we're also unlikely to see a sale like this again. I miss how big sets used to be just a few hundred pieces. It doesn't feel like the end of the world if you mix a set like Fort Legoredo into a bin of random parts because it isn't that hard to rebuild. The newer sets have so many pieces, it feels like a responsibility to keep all of the pieces from getting lost. At least 10305 is one of the best parts packs though. I found the other day that it has more 1x4 bricks (in a single color) than any other set!
  3. That's great news. I bought two when it came out, but I ended up parting them out for a display I was working on. It would be nice to have one just to keep as the set.
  4. Spy-Trak I is a good example of what I'm talking about. The color scheme is more out of this world and it has lasers for prison bars. The new one has a more realistic color scheme and doesn't seem to have any sci-fi elements like lasers, although it's hard to tell for sure from the leaked image. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the new one. It's just different, and it probably reflects society's shifting views on futurism than it does Lego itself. One of the positives I see is that it appears to be a lot sturdier than some of the builds in the later space themes, so it will probably be a lot of fun for kids to play with. I would probably like it more if it was black with a trans green windshield and antennas. Yeah, I agree that Futuron is pretty sterile. It's not one of my favorite space themes, although there are elements I like. It's actually pretty similar to classic space, but with more of an emphasis on white. It still has some nice transparent elements, although it also uses a lot of trans blue, which looks too similar to real glass for my taste. Interestingly, in Tim Johnson's new space book, one of the designers said they would have originally used white if they had been able to because real spaceships are white. I'm glad they went with gray and blue because it's so much more interesting to me.
  5. It's not my style, personally. It seems to have more in common with Elon Musk's vision of the future than Gene Roddenberry. I guess this is the current pop culture vision of sci-fi. It looks incredibly sterile, which is also what I didn't like about Exploriens as a kid. And, opposed to classic space being wildly futuristic and not aspect of the vehicle necessarily has a modern day translation, this vehicle looks like something SpaceX could release next week. It feels kind of depressing. The suspension is really interesting though, especially how the front wheels stretch out front of the vehicle. It looks like it handles really well over obstacles on the floor.
  6. Yeah, if I wasn't a purist, it would be easier to remove the printing. The results look great though! Could someone post a photo of the new torso with the original helmet? I'm curious to see if it matches.
  7. There's a new part in the Orient Express they used for building the windows horizontally. It's a 1x2 tile with a 1x2 plate sticking up the middle. It looks like it will be perfect for building tudor houses once it's a available in black! Maybe it will be included in the Medieval Market Village?
  8. Double printed heads would be a lot more annoying because it severely limits how they can be used. I may be in the minority, but I don't like them. I only use smiley face prints - not the classic smiley, but smiling faces in general. There's a great red headed face in production right now that would be perfect for the forestmen, but it has an almost identical face on the opposite side, so it can't be used with the forestmen hat. I'm tempted to brasso it off, but I'm too much of a purist to bring myself to doing that.
  9. Nice! Are you recoloring 10320? I'd like to see it when you're done.
  10. Agreed. I would rather not have them at all if they're not going to put any effort or budget into it. We need more sets like 10305, but at a better price point.
  11. I'm really looking forward to this set because it isn't based off an existing set. I think that hampered Eldorado Fortress and Majisto's Workshop. The designer of this set had a lot more freedom to create something new. I hope it's the same guys who created 10305.
  12. I also don't understand the blue sliver on the side. I guess it's supposed to represent a cutout for the arms that extends into the torso, but with the torso being red plastic, it just looks bad. The original looked better than this (and it was one of the worst castle torsos to begin with). Now that I've seen it up close, I'm not sure I'll even buy any from PAB.
  13. Boy, this set keeps getting worse with every new reveal. The interior doesn't have a sense of any structure. It just looks like a bunch of random parts strewn about. It even looks like the ceiling is too low on the bottom floor for either of the minifigures to fit inside. Nothing in the treasure chest... Majisto's scroll is just magically hovering in front of his hand. (I guess that's because he's a magician, right?) This really feels insulting to be honest. It's hard to imagine this set being any worse. And, as has been pointed out, there are a lot of things that could have improved this without changing the budget. I'm grateful I'm not paying that suggested subscription fee for the opportunity to buy this.
  14. The forum replaces the word "juniørized" with that text.
  15. They weren't popular because the sets were so poorly designed. But the idea itself has a lot of potential. A modern take could be awesome.
  16. The gender topic is getting really annoying. Do we really have to discuss it for every set? Can we break it off into its own thread?
  17. I agree. I think they should come up with one that's in system. I often find myself wishing I had a part like that.
  18. I don't have that part, but I seem to recall reading that it was out of system.
  19. We should turn that cypress tree into a meme so they'll bring it just like the goat. I'd also like them to bring back the large pine tree, especially in dark green. It would be even cooler if they made an extra large pine tree.
  20. I can't compare them very well because I don't have the Ninjago one, but they're listed as the same part on Bricklink.
  21. I sure hope that new leaf piece isn't in this set. It looks cartoonish. It fits better with things like Mickey Mouse and Fabuland. I will be really sad if it replaces the original leaf mold.
  22. The green hats have a new mold. The element ID is 6414961.
  23. That's the original mold that was retired. That was the last time it appeared in a set - 7 years ago. I do wish they would bring it back. I'm afraid if they do, it will have printed eyes and be more rounded out like all of the modern animals.
  24. One of the new Friends sets has trans-yellow garage doors!
  25. I wonder if they made that mold for an upcoming Mario Kart theme.
