  1. Oh! I thought it was a new version. I had no idea that piece was still in production! The leaked price of $110 was wrong. It's only $100.
  2. Is that wedge piece with the mesh in the center a new part?
  3. Could we split this thread so people can continue posting their shipping updates somewhere else?
  4. More than 24 hours later, not a single person has claimed to have seen it or provided details on what it looks like. I'm calling BS.
  5. It's not just the instructions, but a pretty decent looking box also. I do have an ozone generator. I'd forgotten about it until I read your comment about using gases. I'll stick it in a tub outside with the ozone generator for a couple hours and see if that kills the mold. That would probably be the safest approach. I've seen a lot of people recommend using alcohol, but I think that would smear the ink. Using anything wet sounds risky to me. But I'll keep that in mind if everything else fails.
  6. I've been considering that. I'll have to buy some extra large ziploc bags to do that, so I thought I'd ask for suggestions first in case I can do it without spending money. I've read that chest freezers don't get cold enough to kill mold, but it brushes away easier when it's cold. I could try freezing it in a bag full of baking soda. I just came across this page about cleaning mold and mildew from books: https://www.biblio.com/book-collecting/care-preservation/prevent-remove-mold-mildew/
  7. Hey everyone, I recently acquired a copy of 6080 King's Castle with the original box in pretty decent condition, but it has a little bit of mold (or maybe mildew?) on it. It's not black. There are a few spots that are a little darker than the rest. Visually, it isn't bad, but the mold spores get into my nose and linger for more than 24 hours after I hold it. Has anyone had success in removing mold or mildew from boxes and instructions? Thanks! Josh
  8. I hope a lot of people out there will do the same as me and vote with their wallets. I'm not going to buy any goats until they're under $3. Honestly, it's not a very important piece anyway. I'm not going to give into the FOMO. It costs more than a horse, and I'd rather have more of those.
  9. Brittle blue is definitely a thing. I think people just talk about it less frequently. It might have been fixed to a shorter time frame. Here's a relevant Reddit post. I'm not sure what set our blue parts came from because they're all generic 2x2s and 2x4s. It's possible that they're from an older lot we got second hand. The brown ones are definitely from the castle sets. Edit: What's really weird about this piece though is that it isn't darker like other brittle blue pieces I've seen. Some of the ones that broke were darker, but not this one for some reason.
  10. Has anyone else had issues with brittle brown and blue Duplo parts? We've had about a dozen bricks either break or completely shatter from normal use. I've contacted TLG several times over the past year and they kept ignoring me. I finally got a response from someone higher up after a few months and she sent out an envelope for me to ship them back to be inspected. But it's been about a year now and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. These products should be recalled for being a choking hazard. I don't think they're taking this issue seriously at all. I just found another broken part (the wheel brick) in my daughter's bedroom this morning. Thankfully, my kids are past the choking stage now. If they weren't, I don't know what else I could do but throw out of put away every brown and blue brick we own. Here are some pictures of a few of them. I think most of the parts came from the 2014 castle sets, 10577 and 10569. The blue one shattered one day when I picked it off the floor. (I'm not exaggerating.)
  11. I'm really annoyed that the kraken is even an option because it postdates the medieval period by hundreds of years. It would be completely out of place in the castle theme. It seems to be very popular too. I would be happy with any of the other three, although the bull would definitely be my third choice.
  12. 4654328 6384051 6123728 6419100 I found all of these by searching Bricklink for "sweat."
  13. Man, I've got to be honest here. I think both of these sets with the classic space minifigures look terribly incongruous. It looks like a four year old was playing with a Creator set and borrowed some minifigures from her dad's Galaxy Explorer. (I'm speaking from personal experience here.) I'm also just getting really annoyed with all of these GWPs. I never buy Star Wars sets, but when I initially saw that new battle droid set, I was thinking about buying it. I thought it would go well with the original wave of Phantom Menace sets. Then I saw it was a GWP. I'm glad the orange space minifigure is making another appearance, but I'm not going to spend an extra $200 or whatever the threshold is just to get a single minifigure. Hopefully the torso ends up on PAB.
  14. Man, that's rough. Since it was at an apartment building, there's a good chance that someone else pulled it out. Hopefully someone rescued it. But that sounds like a horrible situation your sister was going through. I hope you can recreate your collection someday.
  15. That's incredibly wasteful. They couldn't have at least given it to a kid who could enjoy building with the pieces? I'm sure you didn't realize it was worth over a thousand dollars when you decided to throw it away, but why wouldn't you let someone else get some enjoyment out of it?
  16. I was just looking through my old posts and discovered this. It's great to see now more than ten years later that I didn't have to give up my firstborn for the forestmen to return. That would have been a very poor trade! It's crazy to look back on this now knowing that my son was born just two years later. I never would have imagined it when I wrote this. It's also interesting to read Faefrost's comment about economics. It may not be a coincidence that the forestmen returned during a time of economic hardship and uncertainty, although they must have been planned long before the pandemic.
  17. The trans neon green lightsaber blade was recently added. Apparently that color is not actually retired? 6507881
  18. I ordered my bluecoats just in time. I bought 50 soldiers and three governors right before the price hike. I got the micro space set with my order. The bluecoat torsos went up by 30%! The prices may not seem that different when you're looking at just a several cent difference, but we're looking at the difference between spending $100 versus $130 (for example). Maybe they're trying to taper off the demand for logistical reasons? Who knows.
  19. I've been waiting for the sails to show up on PAB. I realized the other day that they probably won't be added because they're not stored with the parts in the warehouse. They're probably stored in the same place as the manuals. Stickers probably fall under this category also. They're probably in completely different warehouses.
  20. I only use yellow minifigures. I've always gotten rid of all the fleshies I've come across in bulk lots. It's a real shame they stopped using yellow faces for Star Wars. It actually used to be a great source for medieval minifigure parts back in the old days. Flesh tones severely limit the possibilities because you have to match the skin tones, and they just aren't as fun. I understand having Lando as a different color was weird. I think it would be fun if they just made him yellow like everyone else.
  21. I like the yellow bricks. To me, the beaches should always be yellow in the pirate theme.
  22. Forest Hideout also had the black curved panel, which was exclusive to that set. I wish I had bought some when they appeared on PAB. They were only available briefly.
