  1. Holy Smokes! I'mma have to drive for 12 hours to get to a store and back
  2. exactly what I want. and maybe that's a separate program, more multiplayer than massively multiplayer, not something where kids are connected to possible inappropriateness, but I want that. and like I keep saying, to everyone's annoyance , that's not a far cry from an updated LEGO Creator. Note: oh please read this I've had this idea stagnant in my head for six years. I just need to get it out of my system I've also had an idea for an arena style scavenger hunt mode (intend to illustrate shortly). Minifigs get ghostbuster/honey i shrunk the kids vacuum storage on their backs. (yes it's vacuum suit robin, but I came up with it prior to that. honest! ) Kick apart structures (bit by bit) and suck parts up. beat up on other players to kick parts out of them. gain abilities (theme based by world level) like short spurts of immunity, cloaking (spyrius), high powered football kick (sports), and so on. Integral feature: on the fly build and spit back out for dynamic re-purposing to reach goals, and storage for a select number of your own prebuilts. (examples: build a cage to stall opponents, a stairway, a bridge you can kick a hinge from underneath (cut the ropes), a ramp, a mechanized walker, other vehicles) The building area takes up a corner and preferably uses motion control for maximum quickness and natural building. Possible extra feature: quick launch 2x4 ammo. Also storage for costumes, again, user defined, not necessarily minifig. Examples: bush for camouflage (IJ style), stealth gear, any sort of appropriately sized brickbuilt robot, creature, or minifig character you want to play as. A team collecting all the list parts reaches a portal, and the round is ended. you keep your collected elements and blueprints for any models spit out during the round. you return to a fully interactive personal base of operations and deposit the parts, to ready yourself for new assignments. there are flipthrough "quantum closets" for mass storage of models and costumes, and a swirly vortex part tank (xpod) hanging above a build area for model creation (bricks stay shrunken compared to your figure). light effects for bricks, full control hinge animation, link to commands. then a portal to blank worlds for you to populate as custom levels. diplayed back at your base as table sized setups. invite people over to gawk at your galleries and enter your custom levels. The design of your base interior begins as space age ruins on a harsh planet landscape, and you can actually build it up break it down like anything else. fully custom. Iiiii was 15 and mowing lawns in the brain-frying sun. I think it's still my dream of the perfect videogame. But it's never gonna happen. and it makes me sick to talk about because its been impossible dream project clogging my head for a stupid long amount of time. early concept
  3. I only noticed this set last week at toys-r-us for the buy one get one half off sale. It did jump out at me with a "whoa, that's new" and on inspection I did see the Supercar name. In short, I really was wanting to see a review, and I didn't have to wait long Thanks for the review!
  4. Shouldn't you pass that through the pipeline? Through our EB-LDD mediator? : that ol' wanted parts topic. We all want those.
  5. Maelstrom battlepack. pleeeeeeeease Lego? I want my mini/skellie hybrids! (just do the half torso pieces as individual please. no mega blok modeling, cmon naow) Edit: I really thought those posts were going to merge. sorry guys.
  6. Thank you! I would say the giant knights were ick, but then all the parts except for the bodies, shields and maybe heads and helmets are glorious. did that give us that joint system, or was it first in creator/designer sets? regardless, plenty of those in plenty of colors and length variations, and I actually LOVE the foot part. A sizable expansion of the little 'racer detail' bricks in the armoring, and weapons fit in great with bionicle/exo-force. the main event, the playsets, had all manner of great design. no need to mention the joust set But on topic: I'm ecstatic about Lego's aquisition, and the promise of further development. I'm sorry about the job losses, because everybody who worked on that is crazy talented, and really deserved their place on that team. That said, I think we all want to see some overhauls. I want more robust creation tools. Even the officially published LUG levels seem like they didn't have a lot to work with. I understand that people can't take their things along in public areas, since infinite model files would be happening, but even if a person could make truly interactive mission worlds and only pass them around to "best friends".. maybe they could drop blank (but with set attributes) weapons, helmets, whatever, have them show up as your own custom model to you and whoever thought the file was cool enough to download it themselves, to everybody else a standard part subs it out. they could have an regular "best of fan gear" update from an online gallery. I also wish I had faster access to all my properties, or at least a way to see where I left models lying around. I'd like a offline (with online collaboration abilities) editor, free roaming exploration building zones. truthfully all I want is LDD tools, realtime collaboration, and only slightly more advanced Lego Creator style effects, hinge animation and horseplay. I'd think they could do an LDD "upload to my LU account" and it could even make you a little Shopping List Mission so you'd know where to find the parts if you come up short. pirates and ninjas and that's it? we don't have any official city, space, aquazone, castle, adventurer, dinosaur, sports, western areas. (dear glorious. maelstrom velociraptors, dark divers, slam-dunkers, and gunslingers? didn't hit me until just now) We don't need a separate planet for each. i just feel like there's so much left unrepresented. And yes I understand there's a geek fixation on pirates vs ninjas. and I know there's plenty of amazing fan service gear on crux. We need to be able to save all our loot in some vault. picking and choosing is making me lose a lot of my favorite wacky fun gear in favor of crux prime high stat items. still have my fish hat, turkey drumstick weapon, guitar weapon, but I've tossed all kinds of fun accessories. I dunno. My demands are far too kiddish for my years, but hey,it's just my idea of the perfect virtual lego experience
  7. They're actually in quite high supply at my toys r us, 30USD.
  8. there is just no love for rhotuka
  9. kinda an insipid little musing from me: caveman makes a great giant for heroica. when we figure out how that's played, I'm gonna have to work him in
  10. I forgot that was the origin of that part! I love that part more than I can say. Stick cones on the end and it's just like the old hoses. weave it through technic holes. connect it in a hollow stud. really the only flex piece I need in lego (If you guys retire the classic hose I will hunt you down, make no mistake. but I love the pure all use design)
  11. reminds me of a playskool (best guess) minigolf thing I had as a kid. it was just a ball, a club, and 2 or 3 animal head caves to putt into. I would of course put them on my little kid head, and I swear I looked exactly like Nex (though at the time I think it made me think of the living tiger cave in Aladdin) I did! In fact this was what ultimately made me start to hope we never leave savage planet (but then my cowboy themed line won't happen so I guess I gotta watch what I wish for ) Couple other notes: Raw-Jaw, everyone's favorite tandoori warthog, has two of each paw/claw hand on the heroes in red. I only ever noticed the ones as front feet but he uses the other type further up his leg. happy day for my parts collecting. I may have to get furno after all to hero-fy this monster. and the way the hero breastplate fits the paw is awesome. I almost thought I was looking at a variation of the breastplate on Rocka XL, but I'm happy to see this "match made in heaven (billund)" combo. kudos, parts design! oh and I love the green ID plates with the animals spelled out for those dummies who can't see the resemblances but seriously, I love the prints
  12. A Storm of Swords, George R.R. Martin I was obviously weary of this, due to this guy straight ripping his name from Tolkien, but a friend of mine, who is basically a kindred spirit in all respects, was really into it, so I figured "why not" and got hooked. start reading a flippin 1000 page novel the week before the semester starts... anyway, I'm impressed, it's very well written feudal lord stuff with the slightest hint of fantasy, growing more fantastic eventually, but in a way you might expect to be exposed to the unbelievable coming from a nearly normal world. it's a great threads woven together kinda thing, following specific characters, and they're all decently complex, flawed and lovable. there are one or two characters that I groan when it goes to a chapter about them, but they always turn out to advance the story pretty well and have great secondary characters to carry them. But anyway, pretty well written medieval warring with all the strategies and treachery and shifts in power (the names of the books sum it up pretty well, game of thrones, clash of kings), very immersive, but every once in a while outta nowhere it turns into clumsily written pervy erotica, and I just wonder why the writer goes from eloquent intelligent fiction to kinda amateur, well.. It's not that it offends me personally in content, it just seems out of place and not really what I'm in it for. I understand that the characters would do this and that and would feel like this and that, it's just the way he writes it... It's like Mr Garrison writing his romance novel: definitely offensive south park but that's the idea On another note, Brian Jaques (Redwall) died 8 days ago and I didn't learn till today. it's not like he hadn't written too many formulaic kids novels a ways back but I still miss the guy. He had lots of fun with sounding out crazy accents. I enjoyed the "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"-esque riddles to save the day, and hated the feast scenes for the awful humor and long winded poetry (more tolkien inpiration ). they always seemed to be eating ridiculously good stuff though, made me salivate anyway (really wanted to try the otter's favorite soup due to the overspicy reputation) all the different societies and cultures were established vividly. Seemed to glorify revenge a lot for kids books, but all stories don't have to be Veggie Tales (Clone Wars, you need to drop the fortune cookie morals) There were definitely standouts among the formulaity (apparently not a word but screw you dictionary), and his other shorter series, castaways of the flying dutchman, was great, if tragic. And I wanted a redwall lego line. redwall=fabuland*castle*the depictions of commoners life that castle fans desire so. reminding me about that crazy nestle quik bunny head piece. if I ever get one, it will be the prize of my minifig collection and I will cherish it always and name it george... Anyway, rest in peace, Brian.
  13. I think that's a bit too harsh I'm impressed that lego got the release versions out in time this year other than the boxes, not a prototype in sight. Well my final decision for what I'm getting is the same as when they leaked. Bulk, Stringer, Nex, Raw-Jaw, Witch Doctor. I think that gets me the most variety, all the parts I want. Even that's probably pushing it when I've got POTC, Kingdoms, Minifigures, Heroica, and Alien Conquest! to collect. Newfound appreciation for the other villains though, Fangz especially. I may double up on some of the sets (you'd think to get two claw hands for my stringer and nex, but I was thinking raw jaw and bulk)
  14. I really want to go after butterscorch but sometimes it's hard to find other people focused enough. I think with other rank 3 engies it should be easy, as long as everone can run back and forth bring plenty "doc in a box" stagger giant turret building so he'll focus on one threat and let others melee attack Also, isn't there a class in venture league that reveals collectibles on the map? I'd like to team with one of those and find my last heart flag (yes I have the one behind butterscorch) It's in there. you have to complete a handful of ninjago (advertising ) missions before he appears for taming (he's actually buried in a chest)
  15. it's a very effective advertisement for ninjago spinners. no it's mainly a battle world, with 16 heart flags, multilevel achievements on each enemy type, with fantastic rewards, and 5 combo suits to find: mosaic jester, imagination spinjitsu ninja, bat lord, explorien robot, and bone suit. It's a darker looking world with lighter, more vivid looking versions of the same old enemies, designated "invaders". apes are huddled up to kill you effectively. most of the elite enemies have a named version randomly spawning (the ape always spawns in the same spot and on schedule though), and they are filled to the brim with goodies. like survival, but to a lesser degree, the enemies are stingy about refueling your stats, but consumables are readily available and very useful. also, recharging force fields can be built on most of the battlefields. teaming up works really well when you run into people who are good team players, which, granted, is a small percentage of the time. no-one knows how to keep the claim to dragon loot. infected bricks and faction tokens are PLENTIFUL. you WILL find 3-3-3, 3-3-4, and 3-4-4 weapons. there are many hilarious, trendy, and nostalgic shirts. classic space is represented very well. at least one of these shirts goes up to 5 armor, 4 imagination. many others don't lag far behind. there's even a 5 armor pair of pants. and if life points are more your thing, the batlord has you covered.
  16. dang yes I want the cowboy hat. are you sure the shirt is locked? I guess I wasn't paying enough attention, but oh well, at least I can sell it to get that out of my pack and clear a spot anyone need that long barrel blaster thingy? 3-3-3 gun
  17. I don't know how anyone could not be a batman fan, but perhaps I need to start discussing batman around here if our numbers are dwindling. Adding my "Welcome!" What's your field of study?
  18. Wondering if with the much coveted new suits in crux prime, we couldn't schedule some spare trades. got the explorien robot hat and shirt (the robot walk is PRICELESS), and the blacktron shirt and heroic trident of lightning for good measure. though I wouldn't be surprised if everyone has those already. I am (unsurprisingly to everyone) looking for the batlord's shield and pants.
  19. Gets you wondering why the power rangers franchise won't just die already.
  20. First of all, I don't really know if it belongs here, in the LDD forum, or in the Pop Culture, but I want to voice my opinion that we the FOLs NEED this cross functionality. I know the LDD team has said they're always looking into whether it's worth it to link or not, and I know it will take massive reworking in the website and both programs, That said: I don't want to build models that are stuck in Universe. Universe has it's own selection of amazing models that are stuck in Universe. There isn't even a auto sort in Universe, and largely useless minifigure accessories strewn throughout will keep you from finding the parts you want (I know about the search categories but that alone is not good enough) LDD's tools are far superior, allow for hinge angles, flexible parts, building underneath bricks already placed. LDD has already had limited part palettes, I would think they could do the same and sync with a user's account, have a login in the program or send it up through lego.com, not unlike design by me. And I know I'm not saying anything they don't know but I hope to get a little bit of representation in about this. I'm sorry if the way I've stated it seems unprofessional but I'm passionate about the digital building experience. While I'm at it, I want to build my own pets, accessories, and vehicles, though I know more than a few custom items would make loading into worlds a nightmare. Of course the other option, I would gladly pay up to $200 for "Lego Digital Designer presents: Lego Creator Evolved" with online Co-Op and model animation tools. I don't care if it takes 5 years, I want to get that suggestion to TLG. The LDD toolset in Creator with a light sprinkling of new features would be worth the UCS Millenium Falcon's weight in gold. And it's the natural evolution of Creator, which I still remember fondly as the best piece of software I've ever owned. Even back then Creator had: flight or driving capabilities for anything you could build, dynamite launchers, night vision, easy to apply light effects, a choice of building areas, walk around views, hinge animation with settings, and just about any computer could run it flawlessly. Why has there never been a successor to this? (barring castle and chamber of secrets)
  21. yeah it seems like I saw a port with a ship and waterfall, a forest with some ruins, the orc castle, and a.. bat themed cave.
  22. all those weapons are also available in the "heroica" board games
  23. Ahahahaha ahem. I read that as "No, dummy, it's a thing with swords..." I, like everyone else, love the wings thing, and want the skellie set for the knuckle joints and bones Heck, you're not alone in that. Seems like those things are always "only sold with candy in Japan, and in England with that tabloid with the topless girl page" What I rue is that target practice kingdoms set hasn't shown up around me. I want it BAD. EDIT: excuse me, I'm a retard. the sun is not the daily mirror. Good job, Joe's memory.
  24. I am ecstatic as hell about this hell of a lot. I should have bought Toa Mata Nui after I missed Toa Ignika. And that situation with your suggestions being shot down sounds unimaginably irritating.
  25. x1669 on BL. I pulled the part # 53585 out of LDD.
