Yeah man, we have a direct correlation and it's pretty commonplace: aficionado. (which come to think of it has got to be blatantly stolen from one of the romance languages) -
Excuse me for butting in with DC, but I'm hoping the eventual Aquaman figure will be from his awesome bearded, harpoon handed warrior stage. It's not his first look, it's not his latest look, but it's his rockawesome look. Otherwise he is bland as sin.

Haha, right before I read this I myself was going to suggest "Junkie". how about... HEPDADDIOs Humans, Ever Productive in the Digital Assembling of Diminutive Danish Interconnectable Objects "I dig this cool cat's suggestion" -
This is great. I take it you've been snagging the heavily discounted board games too? both rameses games for $19 and all that?

Review: 5884 Raptor Chase
SpiderSpaceman replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
wait a min - raptor head fits on minifig neck? -
Good grief that's cool. My roommate had tried to get me into the DOTA genre right before LoL and HoN came out, and it didn't really latch on gameplay-wise, but I definitely appreciate all the nerdy over the top warrior types. This model is pretty much everything good about anything wrapped together, like this is right on the mark of what makes me geek out. Good job, sir!

This is what I see looking at Reapa : Squash. I've built the frames for reapa, jawblade, and batman, just as exercises in the HF building system. I actually like reapa's build a lot. Mesonak's 'match the legs to the arms' sounds like a fantastic idea to me but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. And to Aanchir, would we not be able to gird reapa's loin outward with one of the shortest socket to ball pieces, since the rest of his armor already juts forward that far?

Ha, I'm in a coffee shop so I'm not listening to audio, wouldn't have guessed. I'm just realizing I could do video reviews. I always find myself grabbing a new set and feeling guilty for not doing a review but I don't have the time, and video reviews are appreciated, helpful, easy. hmm. Had that ponytail escaped the collectible minifigures line yet? Also I find myself wondering why I hadn't seen that rotor configuration yet. Makes more sense than having the blades hinged off the piece where they can flop and flail, guess I never thought about the pieces having room for that arrangement. And I still say they need a couple goats in there for good measure. Gotta keep those dinos well fed.

I'm hooked on the spinners. The Lego Universe tie-in did it's job. "Saaaaay, wrecking stuff with tornado martial arts is a good idea after all!" Super-gratifying fun. do wish the standard head skeleton spinners had come with their signature hats though.
-
Just to make sure we all caught it, the spinner/booster sets won't be manufactured in China after all (besides the pieces that come individual in baggies - think Jack Sparrow hair, Toy Story alien heads, Atlantean warrior heads - the fancy printed and painted parts) Which rocks because I think a fair smattering of the good figs are spinner exclusive, and I'm not gonna be grabbing much in the way of sets now that I've got all my skeleton vehicles I guess I am gonna need a snake tailed snakeman and one of the staffs, but I'll get enough goods to hold me off a while just out of spinners. source

I'm bummed that they moved the guy in the fedora from Tower Takedown to Raptor Chase. Because Tower Takedown would have been my one stop shop for the theme. I guess I'll be bricklinking that one figure. Oh and opportunity missed: shoulda thrown a few goats in the HQ

Would it be appropriate to ask the ambassadors to solicit some high quality non-thumbnail pictures of the items, costume and accessory pieces, for posterity? or maybe even the flat textures for torso/leg prints? LDD models would rock too..

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is just making me think of the never ending double releases of pokemon games Ruby and Sapphire and so on and so on... -
I'm fine with the shutdown of Universe but I wish they could fold jobs/resources into the LDD team. Because hybridization could bring perfection to the digital building experience, porting playground features and co-op into LDD. It kills me that LEGO owns a talented game studio and has to shut it down. But at the very least I hope they release all the model packs for ldd download. Because they have designs in there that are damn good. Wait wait wait wait wait.. Give 'em set designer jobs!

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

Just as an untested hypothesis, the amount of templates you have saved has to affect the load time, eh? -

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
last time I checked this topic 'rat or bat' was the last comment - and I was gonna say 'warthog' because I have some sort of warthog preoccupation yeah of course it's the boar though. I was forgetting the (not so) subtle varieties of wild pigthings -
Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
SpiderSpaceman replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
^ I like the cut of your jib. no of course it's not wrong - until maybe series 7. I'm a little worried about the structural integrity of the flower stalk, but i'm guessing they've likely taken proper consideration and gone the way of the ringmaster's whip -
2011 NINJAGO sets
SpiderSpaceman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
well yeah I mean I know it's an official licensed product it's just that it's an odd addition to the product lineup. I don't know how it came into being... just a slightly larger than life minifig roped to a giant, nothing special, clunky, tinny sound chip carabiner. I guess there's a certain market for 'backpack clips' but it still doesn't make much sense to me. Hey! a product page. I like that the graphics are 'complimentary' -
2011 NINJAGO sets
SpiderSpaceman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Has anyone else run across these yet? bizarre oversized minifigs tethered to big battery boxes for $10 at my toys r us. and being 'articulated figure on battle sound base', around the same price as the spinner base sets, this looks like lego trying to get in on the 'gullible grandmas buy the knock-offs' action example. most of the characters are available in this form though, at least according to the back of the packaging don't get me wrong though, they're pretty dang faithful upscaled replicas, and that's cool. I'd probably get the Sensei Wu (because that is one worshipfully cool design) but still... -
for shame.
