  1. I'm pretty surprised to see the Forestmen/Dark Forest as the runaway vote leader so far. I thought for sure that the Black Falcons or Black Knights would get the most votes. The Forestmen were slightly ahead of my time, but I did get all three of the Dark Forest sets and I thought they were pretty good, although they never did seem to be too popular. I wouldn't mind seeing another forest based castle theme.
  2. The original minifigs also have solid stud heads while the 2002 versions don't.
  3. That's what I was thinking. There's also been speculation that 2011 is when new pirate sets would appear too. The statement in the OP is really just a rehashing of what we've already heard.
  4. I don't have as large of a pirate collection as some on here, but mine isn't too shabby. I have (all have been opened and built): 1989 6235 - Buried Treasure x2 6245 - Harbor Sentry x2 6257 - Castaway's Raft x2 6260 - Shipwreck Island 6265 - Sabre Island 6270 - Forbidden Island 6274 - Caribbean Clipper 6276 - Eldorado Fortress 1991 1481 - Pirates Desert Island 6259 - Broadside's Brig x2 6267 - Lagoon Lock-up 6273 - Rock Island Refuge 1992 1464 - Pirate Lookout 1492 - Battle Cove 6237 - Pirates Plunder x2 6247 - Bounty Boat 6258 - Smuggler's Shanty 6271 - Imperial Flagship 6277 - Imperial Trading Post 1993 1970 - Pirates Gun Cart 6252 - Sea Mates 6266 - Cannon Cove 6268 - Renegade Runner 6286 - Skull's Eye Schooner 1994 6236 - King Kahuka 6246 - Crocodile Cage 6256 - Islander Catamaran 6262 - King Kahuka's Throne 6264 - Forbidden Cove 1995 6254 - Rocky Reef 6263 - Imperial Outpost 6279 - Skull Island 1996 1747 - Treasure Surprise 6232 - Skeleton Crew 6244 - Armada Sentry 6248 - Volcano Island 6280 - Armada Flagship 6296 - Shipwreck Island 1997 6204 - Buccaneers 6250 - Cross Bone Clipper 2002 10040 - Black Seas Barracuda 2009 6239 - Cannon Battle 6240 - Kraken Attackin' 6241 - Loot Island 6242 - Soldier's Fort x2 6243 - Brickbeard's Bounty 6253 - Shipwreck Hideout 8396 - Soldier's Arsenal x2 8397 - Pirate Survival
  5. In 2004-ish (I'm not sure exactly when) Lego changed the color of their grey bricks to more of a bluish grey color. Thus all of the old grey bricks are called grey and the new grey bricks are bluishgrey. If you're not looking for it, the difference isn't really noticeable but if you compare a grey and bley brick side by side, the difference in color is fairly obvious. Lego changed their brown color to a more reddish brown at the time too, IIRC. I really don't know for sure why the changes in color were made, my guess is it's cheaper to produce bricks with the new colors.
  6. The newer x-wings (4502, 6212) were designed better and look more accurate, but I always thought the grey color of this x-wing looked more accurate. One of my favorite sets and it's hard to top the nostalgia factor of the 5 original sets. Great review!
  7. As many have said, this is a great topic. The set I really regret not getting the most is Hoth Base, but only because it retailed for $50 and I just bought it a couple weeks ago for $90. Many go for over $100. Who knew the price would rise so much? To be honest I have most of the Star Wars lego sets. I missed out on the UCS Tie interceptor and X wings because they didn't come with any figures. I wouldn't say I really regret missing out on those, but they would be cool to have.
  8. I probably won't have enough time to build anything so I'll join this.
  9. Don't worry about it. This thread will likely be locked soon just to cut down on duplicates. You have to realize that Lego news travels very fast around here, so leaked pictures and set names are usually on here months before the actual sets are released. Just an FYI.
  10. There's a reason I only have cats. They may knock my Legos over from time to time (okay, all the time) but they never chew on them. However, my aunt's German Sheppard got a hold of one of my sister's HP sets and put a nick in one of the yellow goblets. When she visits, he doesn't get to go in the basement any more.
  11. I knew the snowtrooper pictured on the 4504 box had a clone trooper torso on it, but I never knew that they actually released sets that had those. Every one that I've seen has had the correct snowtrooper fig. Errors like this seem to be more and more common though. Maybe I was just lucky, but when I was growing up in the 90's I never had any problems with lego sets. No wrong pieces, no missing pieces etc. But since 2002 or so, I'll have 2 or 3 sets a year that have something wrong with them.
  12. I actually found myself in the same predicament and I ended up buying another Soldier's Fort. It's got a good assortment of soldiers for your collection and I was able to build a few MOCs to make the fort more complete. Since it's all Lego, you really can't go wrong buying doubles of any set, but that's the one I'd go for. However if you bought another Brickbeard's Bounty, you could mod it to make it bigger and add a deck etc. There's so many possibilities, but it's all good either way.
  13. A good review of a good set, the only one with Tuskens which have become very popular figures. If Lego produces another set with Tusken Raiders, I wonder if they'll have the same design or if Lego will redesign them. Hopefully we get an answer to that question.
  14. Ask and you shall receive. The X-wings from 4502 and 6212 are nearly identically constructed. The only major difference is the switch from grey to bley bricks.
  15. Gehn from the video game Riven. He's not a typical antagonist which makes the character that much more interesting.
  16. It is very disappointing, but if Lego is really thinking about starting a PotC line, I really don't think anyone is going to change their mind. Everything seems to be shifting towards licensed sets now. I won't be buying any PotC sets if they are made, but that's just because I'm not a fan of the series. The sets themselves probably won't be bad.
  17. I'll sign. If they're really going to quit expanding on this theme, the least they could do is give us a nice imperial ship before they finish. What a real letdown if this is really all we get.
  18. Like everyone has said, there's been plenty of wonderful sets, along with some poor ones, but my favorite will always be 10019 UCS Corellian Corvette. It was a stunning model when it came out and still looks fantastic today even with all the advances Lego has made since.
  19. Heh, I hear that. I never saw the 1st or 2nd PotC, but I did see the third and it was a horrible movie. I had no desire to see either of the first two afterward, although everyone tells me they were much better. We'll see if Lego gets a license for PotC, but I wouldn't at all be brokenhearted if they didn't. Obviously I'm not a fan of the series to begin with, but Lego seems to be heading towards the majority of their sets being some sort of licensed theme. I'd like to see Lego develop a lot more of their own themes. JMO
  20. There's a lot of good ones, it's hard to choose: Mandalorian Basalisk Droid by Mr. Mandalorian Cloud City by Kaitan Royal Gunship by OkyWanKenobi Venator Star Destroyer by thire5 Death Star by Baronsat Good luck in the draw everyone!
  21. Finally some retribution against those damned greencoats! I wish I had the time to add backgrounds to these pictures though. As several greencoats were relaxing at the local spa, they got something interesting in the mail. After opening the letter, the soldiers discovered that they had been invited to take part in the next incarnation of everyone's favorite reality tv show Survivor, titled Survivor: La Mort! The greencoats were then transported to their new home (I apologize that my Cross Bone Clipper is so dusty). But as soon as the island was visible in the distance the greencoats were rudely thrown overboard (This picture turned out blurry for some reason...disappointing). The greencoats barely made it to the island alive. But as soon as they did, they were greeted by none other than Survivor host Jeff Probst! The greencoats got to partake in grueling challenges including Crocodile wrestle... ...and quicksand floater Of course even with the dead soldiers already eliminated, it wasn't official without holding tribal council. The winner was offered the chance to claim his prize. But the producers of Survivor are not without a conscience. The winner was allowed to pull on the hanging string and abort his prize. Poor greencoat... This incarnation of Survivor was the most popular one yet, with the finale receiving 2.5 billion viewers worldwide. But were the producers happy with it? I'd have to go with a resounding yes.
  22. Cats can definitely be a pain when it comes to Legos. I have 2 and they both love to walk through the Lego sets I have on display if I leave the door open. They're both long hairs, so the sets get covered in hair. Several years ago, one of my cats climbed up on top of a bookcase and jumped onto my UCS Star Destroyer that I had just finished on a card table below and she shattered it. Thankfully, neither of them sprays in the house, so I don't have to worry about that. My aunt has a German Shepard who got a hold of a yellow goblet in one of my sister's HP sets. It's still usable, but it has a nice ding in it.
  23. This is one instance where the megaphone 'blasters' may actually work better!
  24. I'll sign this. I'll be purchasing one of these either way, but it would be nice to not have to pay to get it shipped overseas. Thanks for putting this petition together and submitting it to TLG, Bonaparte! We all appreciate it.
  25. The same thing happened with mine too. It's the only set I've ever had where the stickers have started to peel off. Just not a good batch I guess. This set used to go for over $200 misb on ebay, but it might not be as pricey now that the new one came out. Still it is a pretty classic set, even if it does a horrible job of concealing the blues and greens. The AOTC clone troopers are still my favorite version of all the clones Lego has produced.
