  1. I voted 10+ If the last option was "Churchill, seriously, log off" I would have voted for that one. I'm guilty of sitting with the computer and every few minutes refreshing. Many is the night when I have to say to myself, ok, nothing earth shattering is going to happen, log off and go to bed!.... and then the next morning I find new pictures were released .
  2. I agree with Kiel- I worry that you're tinkering so much you're going to drive yourself crazy! I don't think it's too long, though I was happy with the last version.
  3. As I scrolled down thinking about my comments, I noticed everyone else said the same thing! I love the jewels for the engines. It's really a nice effect. Good job.
  4. Just to clarify, I meant no disrespect to anyone or their own opinions. I enjoy watching all six movies. Perhaps I shouldn't have phrased my prior comments the way that I did. I've enjoyed this thread, but perhaps I should just be a spectator!
  5. Where were they stored? I wouldn't think they could live in the Lego alone. No food source. So either they're somewhere else, and not just the Lego, or it's not bed bugs! Hope you're alright.
  6. Nice little set. Have we ever seen those resealable bags before? It might be nice if all these little sets came like that- you could store it back in the bag. I always enjoy your reviews, Rufus. Thanks!
  7. I find it amazing that you guys can take a minifig without a face and portray emotion. And in stormtroopers no less! Some folks refer to working with Lego as an art form... photography is an art form. Now I believe that photographing Lego is an artform! Great work, and keep it up, everyone!
  8. Well, in all the posts I've made in this forum, I've criticized movies, actors, heck, God forbid, even George Lucas. But I never said anything about any other Eurobricks member. This post is bringing out the worst in us. My superior ego won't be posting in here any more.
  9. OK.....ummm.... Welllll, I said I was being sarcastic. DobyClone, thanks for the thoughtful reply. I enjoy the debate and hearing other's opinions. I think I'll just go play with Lego.
  10. Trust me, well read and thoughtfully considered. Like LightningTiger, I'm 42 going on 43. I don't post online lightly. Bear in mind that with this discussion, I've been open minded all along, and encouraged even the most stubborn OT fans to at least give CW a chance. Read all of my posts, DobbyClone. I still am watching CW, and enjoying it for what it is. I still can find some enjoyment out of the PT. Part of the misunderstanding here is, I think, that noone who advocates the OT has said that we don't understand the story. We agree that the back story was needed and welcomed. I understand what Palpatine did, and why he did it. There's got to be a reason for the Republic to change to an Empire, and it's as plausible a scenario as any. We've never said that we don't enjoy some of the scenes from the PT. I love the fight with Maul, as well as the beginning of Sith. I think that the interaction between Obi-Wan and Annakin at the end was amazing, and moving. The issue here is movie making. And you just can't compare the character arcs of Luke and Annakin. Oh sure, Annakin dramatically changed. But so did the clone armor, and some might argue the clone armor had a better personality than Annakin. (Just a sarcastic analogy!)
  11. I think I would agree with that too, Fallenangel. But I recall that it took me watching Revenge of the Sith to be able to put all the pieces together from the first two movies. That wasn't necessary with IV and V. But poor character and relationship development is rampant in Sith as well. Plus, if it wasn't for the V-wings in Sith, I wouldn't have my new avatar.... thanks Fallenangel!
  12. I just finished watching the Sith review. You're right, fallenangel. It's almost as if it was an attempt to recycle to save... and it just doesn't work. It was never going to work because the story, the emotional connection, just wasn't there. Watching those reviews was, while a very disturbing experience, a very enlightening experience. I always knew that I believed the OT was better but I always secretly wondered if I was just getting old or out of touch. SimonJedi, via Fallenangel, thank you. I'll never look at the debate between old and new the same way again.
  13. I'd never seen the Red Letter Media reviews- thanks for the referral SimonJedi and Fallenangel. While they're a bit... odd... almost all of the points he made are good arguements why the OT is better than the PT. Now, I can enjoy watching the PT, and CW, and I've always tried to keep an open mind. But those reviews have reenforced to me that the prequel movies are just not as good as the original. That's not a preference, like I like red and you like blue. The stories aren't as good, the acting isn't as good, and there is just waaaay to much cgi going on. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Star Wars (ie, A New Hope) worked because it was a good story. Just because The Phantom Menace is "Star Wars" and is drowned in cgi effects doesn't mean it's in the same league as Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. It's not a generational thing, it's not what you grew up with. It's what's good movie making and what's not.
  14. Ooooh, man, I was on at the same time. That's kind of spooky. Maybe EB is haunted. Happy Birthday Invisible Member!
  15. I've always enjoyed the reviews. It's nice to see the actual sets "live" and see flesh and blood adults enjoying Lego. I've never gotten the impression that Jason and Stephen are in it for the money- seems to me that they put a tremendous amount of their own free time, blood, sweat and tears, into all of their projects. There is no call for profanity EVER when it comes to Lego. They made the right call. Jason, keep the reviews up. My daughter and I love them (and she's only 2 and a half!)
  16. I keep thinking of Obi-Wan saying "That's no moon." Great work Fenris. I like how the stormtroopers helmet in the background gives him an "expression."
  17. Ah, finally, I thread were I can confess! Now that Siegfried has admitted keeping the bags.... I've kept all the boxes, and am ashamed to admit, they all have the bags in them too. I don't know why I'm keeping them. Maybe I think I wish I had the ones from when I was a kid. But this is silly. I'm not investing, and I'm not going to resell them. Why can't I get rid of them? I'd welcome any advice on how to get the strength to throw them away! Even flat, they take up alot of space!
  18. I just got on after about two hours of trying...
  19. Oh, I suppose I do more by impulse. I say I'm not going to buy such and such, but as time goes by, and I need something new to work on, I'll buy sets I never would have thought I was going to buy. I talk a mean game when the new pics come out, but I end up being a sucker. I have a bad feeling I'll end up buying the Dathomir Speeder before the year is out, even though I'd say now "No way!" In SW, I buy most everything. I probably buy a few City now and then, but those are kind of impulse too.
  20. As much as I don't want to admit it, I don't think these sets look good overall. I will still probably get most of these, but I'm surprised at how I'm thinking... I'll get the Ewok attack, thinking of it as sort of a "battle pack" for Endor. I'll be able to use the figures, the extra bike, and the tree, to go with other Endor things. I might get the Republic Cruiser- I don't have the red one, and I like the overall look of this- though I'm not convinced about the play features, and the flicks. I had high hopes for the Sith Infiltrator. But seeing it open is a huge disappointment. There is virtually no interior. So how is that an improvement? I have the UCS Falcon, but have considered getting the new one for playability. But I think that the bottom of the ship looks bad. Really bad. Almost as if Lego paid no attention to it whatsoever. Dathomir Speeder- I've been thinking about this. I think that the prototype is not a good looking ship. But the Lego model is good. A good representation of a bad ship. It got me to thinking. Many of us who prefer the OT/PT criticize the CW ships as just being excuses to sell more ships... but you have to give Lego credit for making an accurate model. So... given that I don't understand the fascination with pod racing... how are "pod racers" any different than this speeder? Everyone drools all over the pod racers, which, to me, are just as ridiculous as the Dathomir Speeder. You'd think that a good pod racer model was the ultimate desire of any SW Lego fan, rather than a good x-wing, TIE, or Republic Attack Shuttle, for example. Is it a case of being biased, because pod racing is from the movies and not the CW? Just in case there's any confusion, I'm actually trying to defend the CW here. The figures have become amazingly detailed. But some of these head pieces look just silly. All of the new Jedi heads are poorly executed. So, in conclusion, I too think that Lego is focusing on the figures. But I wonder if they're trying too hard. In an effort to make them more detailed, and more "accurate," they end up with ridiculous head attachments. They don't even look like minifigures anymore. I don't have an original Darth Maul, but now that I see the new one up close, I think I'd rather have the old. I'm buying Lego, and I want it to look like Lego. Not an action figure! Overall ship design just doesn't look as good to me... maybe it's true... the ships are suffering for the minifigures, and the minifigures just aren't working. I'm starting to feel like I'm going to do my own mocs. After all, that's the whole point of Lego. Why deal with the limitations that Lego has with set design, when I can build something better myself? I know, I know, these sets are designed for kids to play with. Not adults. But even when it comes to the kids, it seems like Lego is focusing more on the figs and neglecting the ships no matter who the sets are for. All of this is opinion, so I don't want to start any big uproar. But for me, I wish I could just buy the minifigs (besides off of Bricklink) and I'll build my own ships. If only I could get more of the black, grey, white, unusual ship parts just like I can get the old standard red 2x4....
  21. Yeah, hey, wait a minute... two cockpits? Does this mean it needed two pilots? Maybe I've been ignorant, but this seems like a significant piece of information. Could Luke have flown it on his own? If it required two pilots (or plus a copilot) what are the implications for the similarity between these controls and the xwing? Anyone know the meaning of the griffin symbol? Good job, Brickdoctor. I've been thinking about tackling this one myself... now I don't know what I'll do!
  22. This is truly a fantastic MOC. I've really enjoyed watching both models come together, even though I'm not a big technic fan. How about an A-wing? We can't seem to get that right with regular bricks....
  23. Hmm. Guess I'm going to have to watch ROTJ again tomorrow/today. I don't recall seeing the Lego style helmet on an awing pilot. The only "screen shot" photos I know from online are the one of the pilot that crashed into the Star Destroyer (the pilot who's become "Arvel Cynyd" and the one shown during the run into the DS, who's become "Jake Farrell." They both have aviator style helmets. At least it doesn't sound like the consensus is that it would be wrong to use aviator helmets instead. And I agree that they used whatever they could find. Though, you could argue that there was some effort at uniformity, since the flight suits are all green. I don't know. It's confusing. At least I don't feel bad that my evolving Awing moc isn't an exact match for the ones in ROTJ since there wasn't any standard production run by one company of them before Endor.
  24. A-wing helmets: I need some help from the OT purists (and maybe EU) out there. I've always felt that the helmet that Lego uses for the A-wing wasn't right, and after rewatching ROTJ, I decided to try some aviator helmets on my a-wing pilots. Today I tried the different variations on my pilots and decided to research the helmets again online. I've just always felt that the Lego a-wing helmet looked too much like a racing helmet. On Wookipedia, under "Rebel Pilots" there is an a-wing helmet that looks pretty close to the Lego version, including the stripes. But... when I look at pics of the a-wing pilots ("Arvel Crynyd" and "Jake Farrell") they aren't wearing that helmet. Honestly, it seems to me that of all the Lego helmets, that the aviator matches it most closely. Is it me, or is the Lego helmet (and the "Rebel Pilot" Wookie entry) wrong?
