Yeah, that's funny... actually, I was going to ask you if I could use that pic you made of one for my avatar. Instead of Dud Bolt, I guess I'd be Dud Sphere. Sorry, that's not very funny.

I confess, I googled it too. Oh sure, I recognized the podracer, but I had no clue about the name. I started to wonder if maybe my name should be Dud Bolt... nah, it is an obscure reference, after all.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Churchill replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Bringing up CW will generate some heated responses, so I'll get mine in before it gets ugly... Give CW a chance. At first, I didn't like the animation, either, but I've realized it's just the shapes of the characters I don't like, beyond that (ships, environments, effects) it's great. It will help provide more background for you, though some are going to argue if it's really "canon" or just more things that need a retcon. Give it a chance... it is SW, after all. If you don't like it, that's ok. I'd love to see the gunship too, since I missed it as well. It would be a third version, though (right...?) so I'm not sure if we'll see it. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Churchill replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Ah, thanks. I was trying to google it, but was coming up blank. All I was finding was the T-6, and the one from the New Republic. I was also thinking, just how long will it be until we see this in Lego? -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Churchill replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Does anyone know the name or type of the new shuttle that they were flying? I've seen it before, but they seem to alternate now between that and the T-6. -
Well, I'm going to vote for Lumpy (tongue in cheek). I agree that the Christmas/Life Day timing would be great. How about GL in a Lumpy costume, ala the S3 ape suit MF? That would be a great surprise... first, everyone would be disappointed that it's Lumpy, then.... surprise! It's George Lucas! But seriously, I think the GL figure would be a great idea.

I need to rewatch the episode, but did Obi-Wan and Anakin's faces look a little bit... different? Maybe it was just my imagination. -
You are a menace. A walking pestilence.

Awesome! Maybe in another scene they could be throwing a net onto the humans! I must be dense, I hadn't thought of using the figs that way. -
[quote name='fallenangel327' date='20 January 2011 - 07:20 PM' timestamp='1295565627' post='906786' If I remember correctly, there was a starship in the Droids cartoon series (supposedly taking place well before the Battle of Yavin) that strongly resembled an RZ-1, and they retconned this by inventing the R-22 Spearhead which can be seen in an illustration of the Massasi Temple somewhere. I believe ACPin acknowledged this fact in his MOC. Thanks, Fallenangel, guess I'll have to dig up some more cartoons to watch.... back to rumors, sorry for the diversion.

Where is this in the EU- I'd like to check it out. I know that there are other pictures of a-wings other than the movies on Wookipedia, and I'd like to check them out as well. (Sorry, off topic, but I wanted to make sure TFGuy89 saw my reply)

Like FallenAngel says, people would argue a side to their deathbed... so I'm just going to add some other things that make the OT more attractive to me. Of course, I'm biased, because I literally grew up on the OT. I always felt much more of a connection to Luke, Han and Leia as individuals. Like FallenAngel said, it felt much more personal- and in my opinion, the PT and CW are much less about rooting for individual heroes with flaws than for superheroes or "sides." I also completely agree about the vehicles. Particularly the MF. It was a character all by itself. We just don't have that as much in CW... and I kind of like CW.... all the ships are generic, or discardable. Sure, we have/had some personal ships, like Dokoo's, or the Twilight. But I've never heard their owners talk to them like Han did the MF. I don't have any affection for any of the Jedi Starfighters because they're all the same, and are going to be replaced anyway. I suppose you could make the same arguement about the xwings, but always felt like the Rebellion just keep together what they could scrape up, so "Luke's xwing" did sort of have a personality. And they were a cobbled together squadron, which gave it more character. Finally, I remember the first time SW was going to be on broadcast TV (or was it HBO?). That in and of itself was an event. I don't think I'd seen any SW other than my various SW toys and paraphenalia since I saw it in the theater. Now, the marketing with SW in part I think got us into this mess, and it's a reflection of the age we live in, but you can't get away from SW now. I can watch any part, any time. Even when I'm not in front of a TV I can watch SW. So I do look back with fondness for the early days of the OT. When it was amazing just to get a paper/cardboard "promise" of Kenner figures to come. Hopefully those points (tip of the hat to Fallenangel) are less arguementative, and more "why I like..," which is really what this discussion should be about- so everyone's opinion can be understood, appreciated, and who knows, maybe even agreed with.

Fred67, I was 8. I wish we still had some of those models we made. My brother made an impressive Millenium Falcon, "midi" scale. No minifigs. Does this mean we're old?

I grew up with the OT, and it will always be my favorite. It was so new at the time, and ahead of its time. I admit that I like it probably out of nostalgia. I agree with some of the criticisms of CW, but I enjoy it. My opinion is that if OT fans would give it a chance, they might actually enjoy it. I look at it this way- it's Star Wars, so I'm going to like it no matter what (well, maybe not if it was like the Holiday Special). And I have to concede that the only reason I have any OT SW Lego is because of CW.

KimT, that's amazing. Is the whole thing big enough to try some 'forced perspective' with the AT-ATs?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Churchill replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'm glad we're getting some horses in the Pirates/POTC sets. Now I can build up my cavalry with 17th-18th century sets, as opposed to Kingdoms. -
Personally, it's all part of the same story. I perfer OT, then OT, then CW. And I think that as CW goes on, we'll see some more ROTS ships. How Lego classifies then doesn't matter a bit, and doesn't offend me a bit. I don't really like the CW faces, but some are ok, and I don't have a problem mixing them. Honestly, CW is not nearly the "abomination" that some would say it is. Even older folks who cut there teeth on the OT can enjoy CW.... just give it a chance!

Great review, thanks! I bought this for the ARF trooper, and ended up liking them all. The ARF helmet is much better in person.

Churchill replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Brickdoctor and Fallenangel: Thanks for your help. I should have thought of just using the proportions- I'm aiming for minifig scale, and my length is good, it just looks intuitively like it's too small (using the 9.6m length). -

Has anyone ever seen any dimensions other than length for an a-wing, and what they would tranlate into studs? Length is the only thing that I can seem to find. Any help or suggestions welcome. -

I'm excited to see some structures that we can use for our pirates, yellow or flesh. I might even be able to incorporate them into some American Revolution stuff. I've been thinking about Medevial Market for the same purpose.... -

Review - 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship
Churchill replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the rest of the review, lightningtiger. I'm still undecided. I want the minifigs, though certainly don't need another assasin droid. I wish the ship was a bit bigger. Unless you want to put some of the bounty hunters in the jail, only one can ride! But aren't most sets flawed that way.... I'm caught up on the clone wars, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but we've still only seen this ship once, right? That's perhaps my biggest sticking point. Perhaps Lego could have found another way to give us the bounty hunters. That design flaw really bothers me, but I like your solution. Perhaps there's a way without having to detach the 1x2s or a 2x2. I have a feeling I'll end up with this eventually no matter how much I try to resist. Need something new to build! -

Great shots! How does the rotating R2 head work? Has it been posted before? If so, I guess I missed it. I'd like to give it a go.
