  1. Fallenangel327, I'd have sworn English was your first language. You speak it very well. I think part of the reason that some people misinterpret your posts is because you're on one end of a wide spectrum in terms of accuracy, and you're passionate about it. It sometimes comes across as "obnoxious."
  2. Sure it is. We're talking about minifigures in two different sets and what they actually represent.
  3. Whew, that makes the capsule shaped Q astromech minifig look awesome. Maybe a Q series battle back.... nah, wrong topic. What is that droid brain supposed to be? Don't recall hearing about that before (open to enlightenment).
  4. Regarding the sentry droid: I actually like the little guy, and think it's a pretty good version. But, it looks like it was put together with extra pieces from another set. So if that can qualify as a minifig, why can a cylindrical spherical droid? All I was saying was that even though it's not a sphere, it does consist of two astromech domes- so what if it's not exactly the right shape, especially when we get a droid made out of left over parts from a bigger set. Does that make sense? Everytime I mention this little Q, it seems like it really comes across like I'm really passionate about it, which I'm not. Curiousity is killing me. Seems like I'm becoming the Q-series champion. I suppose I ought to just make it my avatar!
  5. Hear, hear! Of course, now I'll make a wish in favor of an OT set... someone awhile ago mentioned (sorry, I forget who) an UCS A-wing. I'd like that. Of course, I'd love the TIE, too.
  6. Hmmm. Could be. I looked at the finials again, and at first I thought they were plastic covered with rubber, but what looks like the plastic piece also bends on the end (looking at the underside). I don't know. I'm curious to see what others think when they get the pieces. Thanks Brickbuilder. I didn't think the minifig pictures were that big a deal either.
  7. Animal Farm? Really? I am an OT fan, through and through. I was 8 when it came out. I was a bit disappointed with the PT, but it has its moments, and I like it. Annakin yelling at Obi-Wan that he hates him? One of the most powerful moments in the whole SW universe. CW? I watch it, it's ok. But the bottom line is that if it wasn't for the PT and CW we OT fans wouldn't even be having this discussion. There would be no SW Lego. Even though I disagree with alot of it, I thank George Lucas for the CW, because it keeps SW going, and so keeps the OT going. We are AFOLs and TFOLs who like a children's toy. Lego is a children's toy, and they like CW. So what? I'm glad they do. What I grew up with lives on- 34 years later, my two year old daughter recognizes Obi-Wan on sight. So I say I don't care what the future sets are, as long as there are future sets. I'll get some PT and CW sets if I like them. And, hey, I'll be grateful that every once in awhile, Lego throws us a set from a 34 year old movie. Animal Farm? That just makes us OT fans look like idiots, jerks, or worse. And by the way, I wish I could find it, because pre-1980, my brother made a fantastic MF that would probably be midi scale today. WITH "REGULAR" LEGO BRICKS. I love accuracy, but if I'm that much of a purist, I may as well get out of Lego and get into plastic or die cast models. One of the things I like about Lego is pulling off a look just using good old fashioned bricks. That's the appeal. Bring on the CW future sets!
  8. I'll just say the top of both heads feels like Ahsoka. The horns and the head tails are bendable. They don't feel like rubber, like, say, Plo Koon's head. How they smell? Well, you'll have to get that off of Youtube.
  9. The flick fire missles come out of the front of the lateral engines. They are directly in front of the two trans engine pieces that you fit to fire them. There is some space in there, but you'd be putting the jedi right into the engines. I think there is room in the cockpit, and I'd like to see some solutions to putting more in there. Other than the printing pattern, not much. Shaak's is softer on the longer out it goes. There is a little difference on the inside, where it attaches to the head. Ahsoka's has a hole in the undersurface of the piece, and Shaak's has a raised circle to attach to the head.
  10. Thanks,Capt Dan. I ordered it online on Saturday- arrived yesterday. Just don't ask me what the shipping cost. I saw last night that TRU has already marked up the prices. That didn't take long at all.
  11. Awhile ago, I asked about putting two astromech heads together to make a spherical droid. I finally found the right piece (thanks for the recommendations), and while it does look like a cylinder with rounded edges, it's not half bad. Considering that lego gives us the "sentry droid" as a minifig in the last landspeeder, can a cylindrical spherical astromech be that bad by comparison? Thanks everyone! Churchill
  12. The minifigs pics are in. Sorry for the quality. Thanks for all the kind comments on my review. They're very encouraging. I thought that somewhere we had really good quality pics of the new jedi. Since I was really struggling just to figure out how to insert pictures, and how to resize them, I was actually proud of what I pulled off, and hoping that someone could do a really good review (meaning, better) soon. I did the review in the first place because I wanted to share info about the shuttle, since it seemed like not too many people had it. Frankly, I was a bit embarassed by some of my pictures, since I'm generally good at taking other pics. But I figures some info is better than none. Seems like you can't please everyone, though. I was going to try the V-wing today, but I think I'll pass. I'd rather spend the time playing with the new sets with my daughter than trying to struggle for an "outstanding" review for everyone. If anyone has any questions about the V-wing or the Shuttle, I'm happy to help. Again, thanks for the kind comments. It actually made me really happy this morning to see that some people thought I actually did a good job! Churchill
  13. Sorry about the huge pics. I'm working on trying to make them smaller.
  14. Sorry the pics are huge. I don't have MS paint on the netbook, and I couldn't figure out any other way to shrink them. You wouldn't have wanted to see my pics of the figs. They were horrible.
  15. OK, folks. This is my first review, and these are the first pictures of Lego I've ever taken, so please be kind. Sorry if the pics are too big. I hope I hit all the usual points. The Jedi Shuttle. There hasn't been much talk about this set, but from what I've posted so far, there seems to be a fair amount of interest. Lets get started. Set Number: 7931 Jedi T-6 Shuttle Year: 2011 Pieces: 389 Price: 59.99 from TRU-US The set is already built, so regretfully I have no in build pics. And, since I'm new to this, and just hoping to pull SOMETHING off, no box pics. No surprises with the box, or the front of the instructions. There is one instruction booklet, with a total of 67 pages, and 26 steps. Some random instruction booklet pics: Blurry, but building the engine block: This is the wing gear mechanism: Building up the cockpit: This is a blurry image, but you can see the "flat" pieces on each wing where the stickers go, as well as the OR emblem, which is also a sticker. The Build: There are four numbered bags. The first is the engine block, the second and third are a wing each, and the cockpit is the fourth. There are five stickers- two white "greeble" stickers for each wing, and the OR emblem on the port wing. There is only one printed part- a 1x2 black control panel for the cockpit. It took me about 30 minutes to build. Build in some time for reaquiring pieces from a 2 year old, and calculating the trajectory of a piece that falls off of a table onto a tile floor and then blends in with the tile. There really were no new techniques; the wings are standard shuttle construction with angled plates. The cockpit is very similar to the other cockpits we've seen in shuttles. A few pics to highlight some aspects: I actually like the engines. It's not the usual slapping a trans-color piece onto a flat surface. Here you can see at the base of the engines the white arch pieces that we saw in the space shuttle, only they are the whole 180 degree arch, instead of the 90, which I've always found flimsy. In this top view, you can see the engines better, as well as those arch pieces. The engine block and the cockpit function as one "unit" with the wings rotating around the large gear in the center. In this bad view of the undercarriage guts, you can see the L shaped techic piece which serves as the landing gear. Actually, it just balances the ship better, as the weight sits on the engine block. This piece prevents the cockpit from dipping forward. Just above this pieces is a small black gear. This gear is attached to the engine block, and the white gear is attach ed to the wings. That's all there is to the rotation mechanism. Surprisingly sturdy, especially with how floppy many of the previous shuttle wings are. This is the inside of the cockpit. Two Jedi only, one in front of and to the right of the other. Clearly we can fit more in here without much modification. Here is a view of the windscreen with the standard shuttle attachement joint. Side view of windscreen. Rear of the cockpit, and you can also see the 1x2 trans clear pieces on the tips of the wings. These are in the front and the back. Bottom view: Minifigs: Honestly, I couldn't take any better pics than we already have. But here they are. Sorry for the poor quality. Both Shaak Ti and Saesee Tiin's headpieces came in seperate bags. Both are made of hard plastic, but Saesee's horns are soft...? Otherwise, they look great. Ratings: Pieces: 8/10. There aren't alot for the size, but it ends up being a good sized ship without a really tedious build. Price: 9/10. For the new minifigs, mostly. Though the more I look at this thing and it grows on me, the more I think it was worth it. Design: 9/10. Good wing mechanism, solid, and sturdy. DSS knocks it down, and my fingers hurt from removing the cockpit. Minifigs: 8/10. Should be a 10/10, but how many Anakins do I need? Playability: 8/10. OK, not much to do with it, but a solid wing mechanism, and very swooshable. The windscreen, however, is a bit hard to get off. Overall: 8/10. Maybe I'm being generous. The only reason I got this was for Shaak and Saesee, and given that I'm mostly an OT fan, I actually really like this ship. The cockpit could be better, with more room for the Jedi. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your patience. Churchill.
  16. OK if this works, maybe I can do a review. If it works, at least we know I do actually have the set!
  17. Totally agree. After all, it's the original set from your childhood. Isn't that the appeal? If you wanted a pristeen one, you could order new(er) parts off of Bricklink. But it wouldn't be the same a one of your own childhood sets. My Classic Space Space Cruiser sits in front of me right now, half reconstructed, mocking me in a loving way... my first set with minifigs who actually had arms (1978).
  18. No, the T-6 is a wider, longer version of the x-wing windscreen, and the V-wing looks like a rounded smaller version of the one on the imperial shuttle. I'm not sure if it's a new piece- the imp shuttle is the only think looking around that I can see a similarity to.
  19. Ha, ha. Got a great camera. My wife can send pictures of the kids, using both computers and alot of patience, but getting good pics into a review? I need someone to save me and do a pictorial review!
  20. The cockpit is the only printed piece. It looks just like a bigger, fancier x-wing cockpit (same color, etc). It's actually kind of hard to take off (no hinge). Hurts my fingers. Yeah I feel kind of wierd- seems like I'm the first to build it, but I'm frustrated as heck that I can't do a formal review. I feel like I'm letting everyone down. I just couldn't contain my enthusiasm and had to post about the sets! My old laptop's on it's last legs, and so the netbook is the workhorse- I could take some camera phone pics and send them to someone... I wonder if I can send camera phone pics to an email address. Any advice?
  21. By the time I could get pics figured out, someone will beat me to a full review. The shuttle is actually nice- The wing mechanism works smoothly (just turning, but its stable), though I'm not sure I understand why on the "real" shuttle they move... The flick fires fire by pushing on the trans clear 2x2 circular engine pieces. I couldn't understand why there was no landing gear in the front, then my wife (who doesn't build, just... tolerates) pointed out the technic piece that turns providing great stability when "landed." Perhaps I missed that instruction when building it... The box seems to show that the cockpit can be detached; implying an "escape pod" but I'm not sure it's any different than the cockpit attachment on any other shuttle. More shuttle thoughts: The cockpit looks designed for two; but the more I look at it, with just moving a piece or two, I think four would fit fine. The windscreen doesn't hing, but it's a niece piece. The stickers are actually not that bad- two for the wings are big, but they have a white background, and are going on white pieces- sorry I can't explain what pieces are called that well- but they are flat with studs on three outside sides- so the rectangular stickers are easy to place. The engines have a piece that's new to me- the white arches used in the space shuttle, but now they're a complete 180 degree arch. Makes building with them much easier.
  22. I built this set this afternoon, and ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I'd be happy to never build a battle droid again, but the pilot body prints look so much better than the old ones. I like the carrier, and it should be a piece of cake to duplicate/MOD. I really like the colors used in the transport. I'm not a big fan of "ground" vehicles in SW, but it's good, and I think everyone will like it. What more can be said about the gungans? I personally.... don't like... Jar Jar, but they look incredible, especially when next to the old Jar Jar. The shield is beautiful. I also like that the box seemed to be a more reasonable size, with perhaps a little less Billund air than we're used to. A great set, and everyone who is looking forward to this should be pleased- great for army building. Roger, Roger!
  23. I got the Battle of Naboo, Jedi Shuttle, and V-wing delivered from TRU this afternoon, and built all three in about an hour and a half. I just couldn't stop. I ended up being really happy with all three. The shuttle and the droid carrier actually grew on me as I was building them. I'll add some comments to the Naboo review, but I can't do formal reviews of the V-wing or the Shuttle, since I can't upload pictures on this netbook, let alone figure out how to get them in the review quickly. If everybody is interested, I suppose I could do "no pictures" reviews, but those aren't very much fun, I know. Anyway, I'd be happy to answer any questions on the V-wing and the Shuttle if anyone wants, if I can. Generally, I'm pleased with the v-wing. It's a quick build, with not alot of pieces. Very swooshable, and I like the mechanism to move the wings. No flick fires! Stickers, of course. I think the astromech is the silver color talked about- but I don't have any other silver pieces to compare. It took about 20-30 minutes to build. The Shuttle has numbered bags- one for the engines, one for each wing, and one for the cockpit. It made the build much easier. No question they could have squeezed four figs into the cockpit- only two are supposed to go in, and they're staggered. Should be easy to mod. The new molds like even better in person, and even though they're CW based, I think that Shaak Ti looks great, and that's coming from a OT fan first, PT fan second, and CW fan only because I love SW in general. Anyway, if you all think that any more of a formal review with pics would be helpful, I'm happy to do them. Unless I can get one of my nieces here in the next week, I don't think I can pull it off. They're much better on the computer than me! I think everyone is going to be very pleased.... Churchill
  24. Wow, I agree- way too much time and minfigs. But since it wan't my time, I'm glad someone did it so we can enjoy it. That's amazing. I'd like to see more pics.
  25. Thanks for the review! I didn't realize that the pilots were printed. I like them much better than the older versions. Thanks for those pics. Seeing the actual build, the carrier itself looks simplistic to me. Nothing spectacular. But, a good review. Thanks!
