  1. Experimenting with tubular frame, it gives smooth look, but I am not completely happy with it. Will revert back to - Technic bricks and plates - main frame, but will keep tubular angled triangle frame at the top. My entry must be the least built of all. I got so little time for this contest, sadly, that I will hardly finish it on time. But will finish the trailer and use it in my 1:13 fleet. Update tomorrow.
  2. First for the images, use that "download this photo" button at bottom left part when you are watching the picture in Flickr. Then you can click on "view all sizes" and on the next page, just choose the resolution you want and right click on the image and "copy image location". At least, that how I do it from Flickr. Impressive working model with no motors! Too big for its own good :) It reminds me of this trucks: Your model has great choice of functions, and they work well. It is a little bendy in the middle when lifted, that's the only thing i don't like, and drivers visibility could be better :) Overall, great and big model!
  3. Very different and complex entry! I have a remark here and I see few major problems. Remarks: Make your post readable. Make links that are visible without having to click on them. Someone just want to see what you build and don't have time to click every link for every picture. Since you are building it since May, was this creation shown anywhere until you show it here? Problems: 1. You used plastic bottle as a air tank. That is against the rules and not allowed. 2. There are also other non-Lego parts such as Rotocaster wheels, 3. ...and white Hat on the head. 3. There are still couple of IR receivers on the robot, which are not allowed. 4. You need to completely remove any motors that are not used for powering the pumps. They can not be just unplug.
  4. No, speed is not important. But presentation is, if you want to make your entry stand out and be interesting. So very slow entry might loose some points there. I would suggest you to remove two cylinders from LPE, and leave just one, with one big hand pump. One cylinder lpe has a lot of power if powered with big pump, and should have 60 rpm at least.
  5. This may be my favorite entry so far! Simple and effective!
  6. It is ok to ask money for nice building instruction. It is also ok to offer them free. But asking 55USD for scanned and printed original instructions of 8860, which are widely available for free? And claiming Lego said its ok? https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-8860-chassis-building-instruction/dp/1367063574/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477081522&sr=8-1&keywords=LEGO+8860+Car+chassis+building+instruction
  7. To remind you: You brought that 55 USD book (which actually is scanned free instructions) in this topic yourself, and when I asked about it, you told me to "shut up"...? While you got two of your topics locked up, already? Not a nice way to communicate with us.
  8. Lego did not have any complaints that you use their content, their 8860 instructions which are free online, which you scanned and want to sell them for 55 USD, all with their logo on cover page?
  9. Hey Doug, Beside that tip that Tommy gave you, I can offer two more: 1. When you place your sprockets, you can always "cheat" a bit with adding support rollers above and beneath, to raise the middle section of the tracks, thus making it more tensioned. Also, this techniques gives you a lot of precision. For the rollers, you can use simple 2L smooth connectors. 2. You can make, like real tracked machines have. a track tensioner, a common shock absorber. I use this few times, great results. Here it is on 4kg loader:
  10. Besides some thin tires, why don't you use small rubber bands? You can even use 3rd party rubber bands and put them at 5cm distance from each other, that should keep he hoses tight and as one piece.
  11. Just thinking again...how about using regular pneumatic hoses, and use lets say 8 or 10 or 12 of them and stack them together to achieve round thick look. That way it could be cut, it would be flexible, and width could be made pretty precise and you could even chose a color!
  12. Hello all, I have acquired few pairs of these two: Tread Large, Technic (34 tread 'links') Tread Large, Non-Technic (36 tread 'links') There are some differences on the inside of the treads, and my question is which wheel/sprocket can be used for each of them, so they can not fall off them, and that they can be powered, to move. I see in the description that: These are used for 34 Tread, and the regular 30.4mm D. x 20mm wheels for the 36 Thread. So, does anyone know are these the only possible wheels, or are there other wheels/sprockets that can be used for each type of these tracks, for the purpose written above? Thanks!
  13. Only the Bridge is Lego. Cars are real.
  14. I am really sad that the real Lego hose cant fit properly...You wont experiment any more to try to make it work with the hose?
  15. All you need for 3rd party pneumatic hoses.
  16. Just as you said: it's not a race. Enjoy the build!
  17. Well, perhaps you can use some part(s) to hold the boom raised, to lock its position, or to block its movement down...
  18. Hi, it is normal for them to lose the pressure over the course of a day! If you leave them under some weight - raised boom, for example, over night, they will lower themselves during the night. Dont worry about that!
  19. Indeed very clean cab.
  20. Massive! And lots of cool functions! Great My advice, reduce the volume of all sounds in your editing program, to be same or a bit lower than the music volume. It might be better.
  21. Thanks, Grum! Yeah, time is limiting factor! Tnx! Spades are in wip, they have awkward angles, but i am using wedge plates. Hopefully they will be able to cut through soil (1x1 round plates and 1x1 round bricks) and load a tree from a glass full of same soil! Thanks, man! For the curently installed cylinders, this: SIDE CYLINDER - adjustable trailer coupler, left and right, when stand next to tree, this movement rotate a bit the whole trailer left and right, allowing precise positioning of the blades around the three, FRONT CYLINDER - adjustable trailer coupler, extend and retract, this movement push or pull a bit the whole trailer closer or further from the tree, allowing precise positioning of the blades around the three, I did not explain well, i know, basically these cylinders allow for precise positioning of the trailer, when hooked to a car....take a look at this video at 0:40 and at 1:11 It is different manufacturer, but they function the same: VIDEO of positioning of the trailer.
  22. Hi all, A bit late to the party...but here it goes...I searched for something that is unusual, has lots of hydraulic functions and look good built with old Technic bricks and plates, with skeletal frame (with no ModelTeam finish). My entry for this contest is Tree Spade Trailer, by Vermeer. A tree spade is a specialized machine that mechanizes the transplanting of large plants, including large bushes and small or medium trees. The machine consists of a number of blades that encircle the tree, digging into the ground and then lifting the entire tree, including its roots and soil, out of the ground and replanting or transplanting the whole tree in the designated area. Here is a very short video of random real Tree Spade operating: So, the Lego model. The model has to be in my favorite 1:13 scale, to fit with my all other builds. That soze gives some room to accommodate all the functions and sturdy frame. The trailer should have 10 pneumatic functions, and 12 pneumatic cylinders (all V2): adjustable trailer coupler, left and right, when stand next to tree, this movement rotate a bit the whole trailer left and right, allowing precise positioning of the blades around the three, adjustable trailer coupler, extend and retract, this movement push or pull a bit the whole trailer closer or further from the tree, allowing precise positioning of the blades around the three, outrigger up/down, single outrigger feet secure the trailer at the back, between the tires/ Front part of the trailer is securely hooked to the driving vehicle, spade section tilt to vertical position spade section lower to the ground level spade section "hugging" the tree blade 1 dig/retract blade 2 dig/retract blade 3 dig/retract blade 4 dig/retract Progress so far, very WIP, will change a chassis a lot, spade is also WIP, I will make a full tree also, with round bricks and lots of leaves...:
  23. Looking good! How does it perform when weight is not centered in the middle of it? Trouble starts when there is more (lots more) weight on one side of the turntable, on a big crane or heavy excavator.
