  1. I think this a really neat little set myself. I agree that it has a very classic space feel. I actually said the same thing when I saw this. Heck I might pick up two of these for the new windsheild. I'm liking 2008 a lot.
  2. I'm kind of disturbed by the box art. Anyone else think this is a sign of the times? Ofcourse I'm refering to the blood and bandages motif. It's very violent, too violent. I just hope the comics aren't like that. And I'm no conservative either. As for the set, I'm thinking it's not that bad anymore, really. I was perhaps too harsh on this set before.
  3. Megabloks has become about as much of a competeter with lego as matchbox, its not even a building toy anymore. The problem is that parents and store managers dont realize this and simply pick one which they think is more popular. And Megabloks is gaining popularity because it's a simpler toy for a dumbed down generation. It's a dissapointing state indeed.
  4. I'm sorry Iamded, your moc is great, the mech is nice but it just doesnt strike me as post apoc. And I'm sure Hinkley will drop by to preach that "there's no definition for post-apoc!" Yeah, yeah... well in a sense I agree with him but I dont think this fits the ticket. It certaily shows a scene which depicts a post-apocalytic or apocalyptic situation, but it's set far in the future. I think the theme is inspired by the retro type of post-apoc, like Madmax.
  5. Who cares what the news letter should be named, It would be nice just to get the damn thing and know whats going on.
  6. I really like this set, even though I failed to mention it in the topic that it was originally brought up in. I probably wont pick it up because as nice as it is, it's not outstanding, plus I need to save my money for exo-force. Also based on that the mobile command center is supposed to be $75 X-O , which is clearly not the price bracket it fits into, I'm not too sure this will be reasonably priced. It's still the best police station TLG has made IMO.
  7. well 7743 still looks like a piece of crap and the price is just...excuse me.... :-X...... :-X. Also these new pics dont do much but confirm what a piece of garbage this set will be. I still dont know if there are pasenger doors or if the figs are stile expected to crawl through the windows to get in. Thanks anyway.
  8. Thok, I think your forgetting that Sears, Zellers and The Bay are all part of HBC and furthermore that Zellers has an extensive selection compared to a behemoth like wal-mart and it also has some excellent sales on lego. I personally wonder why Sears sells toys at all. I'm not sure why they would have that many megabloks products, but Sears isn't exactly where parents go toy shopping for there kids anyway.
  9. the person above me is up right there *y*. Just follow the thumb. If you hit PSP guy then you know you've gone too far. Oh yes and the person above me is also a pastafarian. He's right up there *y* you can't miss him.
  10. wow this is neat! I'm really liking that bug.
  11. Lets just hope the acid solution isnt vinegar and NatriumHypochlorite, or things could get pretty messy. ;-)
  12. ahh! Yet another sale a hmble canadian boy like myself cant take advantage off. I'm not seeing the benefits of this canadian dollar much yet. >:-(
  13. how much sun is required to discolour them? My collection is in clear ziplocs in my dads loft, which has two mindows but very little sun gets in through one because of the surrounding buildings. The other window is at the opposite end of the room. Are my peices safe?
  14. The new sets have little droid like robots that carry buzzsaws and other tools in addition to the big mechs, its a neat concept.
  15. The painter hiding in the bushes is hilarious! Lets just hope he's getting good cover. This scene is quite epic indeed.
  16. The plane: Horrible, the price to piece ratio will probably be poor as was the case with 7994. This looks nothing like anything a real police force would use. What do they have in their anyway, another plane of reasonable size? The truck: My reaction to this set was meh. It is actually a very plain set, not that bad not that great. Sadly the roof has yet another new wedge piece and the front looks dumb. They should've had a sattelite and light like in previous versions. The helicopter: Beautiful. A nice 4 wide heli with a decent design and some good accesories, that's what I'm talking about. Build Your Own Harbor & Road Construction: This is definately a step in the right directionl This is lego once again encouraging kids to use their heads when building with lego and is clearly intended for that purpose. Its not just a bucket of pieces but a crossover set for young builders. Then again this might be another time-cruiser type scam to get rid of extra pieces. :-D
  17. isnt that a tile? 8-|
  18. well ofcourse I'm not a prodigy or anything but who was I suppose to use the cable access painter? :-P I just think that perfectly good pieces are going to waste on kids that chew and destroy their pieces and even at 13 kids are melting miinifigs in the microwave.
  19. so are you saying the set is just a bed? 8-|
  20. The new anakin head is so ugly the first thing I intend to do when I buy the set is chuck it in the garbage. The rest is awesome though. I'll definately get a couple of the droid sets.
  21. sorry. >:-) That is a tumbler glass, incidentally used in a batman movie. X-D There was actually a time on this board when people were making whole topics just to fool people.
  22. we now have a picture of the tumbler! looks a bit <insert that tiresome argument>
  23. Oh, and I too "scavenge" for pieces. I often steal pieces from my brother, who is too frequentyl given lego sets for no apparent reason and just recieved the ambulance and a fire set. I figure he doesnt appreciate lego on the level I do and chews pieces (although he seems to have stopped). Sometimes I decide against stealing a part incase he becomes a better builder and has use for it. I also once swiped a minifig from a diorama a kid had done at my school in grade 8. And I managed to convince my dads freind Howard Brandon into letting me have some pieces from his kids' lego collection. How did I justify this pilfering of pieces? What if you had a paint set and Leonardo da Vinci came into your home and needed a new paint set, and you had one and hardly ever used it. Would you say no if he asked for it? I also schemed to steal some pieces from a lego bucket my design studies teacher, Mr. Lassale had put in the room to let us borrow pieces from for assignments, but decided against it for moral reasons. I still plan on asking him if he will sell me the bucket for a price that is much lower than what I would pay on Bricklink, probably $40.00. The bucket has, I beleive 2 complete boat hulls, a classic green dragon, a white ninja, white lattice windows, the balloon piece from the Adventurers Zeppelin and a few other rare elements.
  24. This set is fantastic! The helicopter itself is great but the life raft makes really makes it, I'll get this one if it isnt overpriced like the harbor set. I think without a doubt City has been TLG's best designed and best overall theme recently. I dont see what's so special about sandy, we know she's in the new rocket set. :-/
  25. This set deserves nothing less than a 4/5 and I'm surprised pirate lego aficionado Phes would speak so illy of it as it truly represents the spirit of the pirates theme and 90's lego in general. This set is the ideal design for a small inexpensive set to se as an army builder or for kids to buy on impulse. The bad sets were the inumerable rock formations with pirate figs that TLG tried to pass off for sets. pirate lookout(Yeah great lookout... The people look like ants from up here! treasure surprise(not exactly a big surprise is it? I mean where the hell else is he going to hide that many coins on a 4x4 plate? with a square box on it) barnacle bay(this is just a burp with some bricks slapped on. Sure it includes some figs but it certainly doesnt have a better design than the shipwrecked pirate.) skeleton crew(AaaaaaaaaaaaH! Holy crap a skeleton!) I would take a raft over those anyday. The raft is a little more creative than these vignettes of pirates stranded on islands and whatnot.
