  1. your right; infact i dont beleive it. I looked at his profile and he put his birthday down as 1917. You can't trust this guy as far as you can throw him. I guess if he's twelve most of us could throw him pretty far though :-/ ... Not that i would throw him, that wouldn't be very nice.
  2. I actually disagree that these kinds of members should be banned. It's nice of them to give us special offers and if they want to promote their stores here, that's their buisness, so long as they stay in this forum. Perhaps many of them aren't even interested in lego anymore and just want to make sure the most deserving people get the bricks. Think about it, many of our members need to expand their collections and sales like this make it easier. If we didnt buy them then they would go to master mocers with big budgets, who already have more peices than they no what to do with; or worse yet, children! :-X Infact for that reason i think we should encourage as many as we can to flock here. We ought to start some sort of EB ambassadors program. Ofourse it would be much more effective than our other ambassadors program. :-P Anyway that's just my two shillings.
  3. I got it! We dont need to have a debate at all! We'll just call them GOOTs an acronym for ( Goblins, Orcs, Ogres and Troll wariors). I think these guys are lemmings myself. I have to say this topic is rather silly. It reminds me of that episode of Southpark Go God Go where the atheist factions are at war with eachother over what atheists should call themselves. Anyone seen it? I think GOOTs is a good solution to this "problem" though.
  4. I should probably mention that as silly as my mood was the question was serious. I want to know how you would make water hink, since you dont like brickbuilt water. I think its okay, especially if your a purist.
  5. youll notice these four bley pieces on the storm lasher, they make kind of an engine. Are they new?
  6. so how would you go about making water for a dio Hink? Obviously he has to use something. It would be neat if he used some sort of container and actual water i guess. Then again the water would be left standing and his house would turn into mosquito junction and he'd have to call an exterminator. Is that what you want hink? For poor Sirnadroj to have to call an expensive exterminator to gas his mosquito infested house? He'd have to stay at a hotel too, which would be rather inconvenient for him and all because he used real water. :'-( Im sorry i was just in a silly mood X-D
  7. You know its gotta be space pirates for me. ;-)
  8. good point hink. I was going to say the same thing myself. Especially since today i presented a study on religion for my psychology class and as part of the study we distributed a survey we made to a number of classes in the school. Ours was probably one of the least biased goups. I voted for orc but i was leaning towards troll warrior and may have picked goblin if the poll wasnt so biased.
  9. Oh i knew about the red rocks which is why i figured you perhaps did it on purpose. I just dont think it contrasts well. I would've used brown or normal orange or sand red, maybe even tan myself. Maybe a combo of the those. Sand red would've been ideal but i doubt those parts are even produced in that color. Edit: actually its grown on me and ive decided it doesnt look all that bad
  10. Very cool The river dragon was one of my favorites before but now it seems to be the worst out of the three mechs. Also what does everyone hate about the assault tiger anyway? Its the best of the breed IMO. I hate the new tank, its almost as bad as that monstrosity, the mobile devastator. :-X I also absolutely despise the storm lasher with those huge engine things. :-X All the other sets are great. I'm loving the chameleon hunter. *wub*
  11. this is really neat Sir nadroj! I love the life and action of this epic scene. I'm having fun imagining the rest of this world and how this battle plays out. There are so many great things about this, that I just don't know where to start. I usually don't like minifig hands being used in mocs. I find its an over used technique, especially for levers and controls, and they often stand out too much. Here they make sense and in this array they aren't too noticable individually either. They would certainly discourage me from trying to get up on that ledge. I really like the barrel surprise, it instantly captured my attention. The canoe is great. I think it looks very post-apoc, mainly because its a canoe. You have some good gun designs in there. My favorite is the chain gun on the ledge. The cacti are a nice detail as well. What i like most of all though is the idea. WW meets post-apoc, very original. Now one thing i dont care for is the red. I think it may have been to give it that custom cartoony look but it kind of looks like you ran out of orange. I also think that ledge could've blended into the cliff or canyon better using some inverts. Overall its another excelent moc. Never stop building sir nadroj, you have a gift. *y* *y* BTW why hasn't anyone mention how dumb it is these guys are about to go over the waterfall in a canoe? Don't they know what their doing? :-P
  12. He just used a term that people encourage their pets with and you thank him???*wacko*
  13. thankyou sir nadroj! I was looking for a cool new moc today and this is it. This is infact one of the coolest mocs ive ever seen. I really like the use of the viking hull and that detail at the end of the ship and all the anttenae are a nice touch, although different designs would have been nice. Maybe a sattelite dish? Overall I think it has a rather flawless design. I mean i could stand here nitpicking at how you used too much brown or the fact it doesnt have that post-apoc thrown together look but I think you're allowed to make minor mistakes (if thats what you want to call em) like that when building an moc. Personally i might have made the cabin mainly grey, but thats it and the brown colour scheme certainly doesnt make the moc any less enjoyable. *y* *y* *y* *y* *y*
  14. I bought this set, i would give it atleast an 8.5 myself. The overall set design was good. You get neat parts and its fairly part genrous. One thing that i hate are these ridiculous two face figs :-X . What the hell is lego thinking?! Theres really no good reason for any of these guys to have two faces. Ha-ya-to's second face doesnt even make sense, it looks significantly older than the normal one. The hair in my set didnt stick properly did anyone else have this problem?
  15. wow look at those beasts. Im really mad they didnt release them. Did ayone notice those castle cone hats in tan on the red beast? Jeeze dont tease us like that Lego! Its just really lame. I'll admit they need some work though.
  16. dont worry thats how many of us are and how we end up with topics like this one.:-P PSP guy: I would say Graned Moff's response wasnt constructive. I took a look at your moc to create my own review based on the ideas above. " The background lacks a fluid colorscheme. Im not familiar with the mortal combat game so i'm not sure how accurate the characters are but i reccomend you redo the background."
  17. DESPITE THE DESCRIPTION THIS IS FOR EVERYONE! So as you may already know, recently (the day before yesterday) i debated hinkley on the matter of MOC's in a certian topic called The Best MOC I Ever Build. We were basically discussing whether or not the afol community should have a standard for MOC's. I was going to let it go but you see i have this disorder called OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and that's my excuse if this thread seems spammy. Ok before we go any further this is just a debate topic. I'm not trying to create a revolution here. I don't want members to reserve a special critique for my moc's because of this topic, because it is NOT intended to affect the moral fabric of EB in any way shape or form. I cannot stress that enough. Now what i've noticed is that despite what Hinkley has told me, ConCrit does equal CanCoat. It seems replies are expected to be more positive than negative, but i think there should be a gray area in the spectrum where the reply can be more negative but within reason. This would mean- no sarcasm, no insults, no attacks on character. However it would allow one to be very critical of the moc, so long as they explained their criticisms in full. To give you an example of what i mean I'll refer to a topic for an moc by Darth Andrew. Chuck said: Now I'll agree that saying "not to belittle your moc or anything" sounds sarcastic but i wouldn't say the question itself was out of line. For some would consider this plagarism. Not I personally, as the moc is mainly focussed on the scene and how the figs are set up. I found many of the replies completely focussed on the positive aspects and that aspect of the moc wasn't pointed out, even though im sure it bugged us all just a tad. I think candy coating leads to lying wether we like it or not and this can give the moc'er the wrong impression. I would say Chuck offered some of the most helpful advice. Maybe Andrew wasn't sure what the general community would think of the fact that he used 7666? A second point is the idea that discouraging posts are going to necessarily discourage the builder is false. Sometimes a respectful negative response opens ones eyes or encourages the builder to show the commenter up. Part two is the Afol Community Standard or the ACS as i like to call it. Should we have one? I've been called an elitist among other things for my contraversial views on this matter. But hey i gots a tough exterior; i can take it. My opinion is that especially on this forum where we have the over 18 rule where it would be hypocritical we would have some kind of standard. I've said that the standard should be very low but i think there are certain hypothetical mocs (like the two brick plane hinkley mentioned in the other thread) that could easily be hoaxes. Not to be taken seriously or are just plain bad Moc's. Does this include FF's haunted eco-plane? I would personally expect him to grow without the help of the community (i wasn't online talking lego till i was 14). I do agree that it wouldn't be fair to prevent certain members from posting their mocs for critique but i don't think we should feel obligated to butter them up. Infact i think in cases like this, you could alternatively go to the lowest rank within the gray area i spoke of and discourage the member from posting more creations like it, as well as refer him to sites like BS to let him use his own discretion on posting moc's. I would say a slightly modifed version of what i wrote to FF in round one of the Best Moc I Ever Build thread would be acceptable. I'll quote that post: First i encourage him to revise the moc and express a certain level of interest. Then i make good and clear how his moc stacks up to other mocs on BS. Then i give him comprehensive advice to not influence the projects direction too much. I also give him resources to use, to better understand what we look for here and learn from them to make mocs that meet the ACS. Then i mention the ACS. Before you know it the boy is well on his way embarking on an enriching learning experience. My main regret in that post is saying it's not suitable for Eurobricks, because that could easily be misinterpreted to mean he shouldnt post his moc for critique, which is elitist. What i meant was it isnt a very good art piece. I would also get rid of the extra (REALLY). It pushes my point too much and could be viewed as rude. So is it me and Chuck vs. everyone else? Or is Chuck going to chicken out?:-D..... Oh, not funny.... :-/ So be it resolved that Eurobricks needs to grow some balls. X-D
  18. I realize it is just the official model on a plate but i would say thats besides the point. This moc is focussed on the action and the overall mood of the scene. It is a lively piece and its a good vignette type deal. MOC means My Own Creation not My Own Model. I'll look forward to your next creation.
  19. the best creator house yet. I really like the skylight windows, even if there is already piece for that. The BBQ, the mail box and the satellite dish certainly add to the destail and level of thought put into this set. I dont have any of those windows and they sould proove to be useful in a future moc. TLG is certainly going in the right direction with these new set designs. /
  20. I was just wondering when we'll see the return of our friend Fartface?
  21. I wasnt aware that other guy had been bannned before. woops. No we've never had a showdown before.
  22. Well firstly its titled the best moc i ever build. So he is claiming that its a really good moc right? He also doesnt say himself that he wants to improve or admits hes not a very good builder, you did it for him in the description. Although i wouldnt ban fartface myself, it seems like he fits the description of the kind of member who would be banned. He has poor typing skills and his name is fartface and his post is childish. I recall a member who came here a while back and expressed that he didnt like the direction lego was headed. The post was painful to read and didnt elaborate on why he disliked where lego was going but the EB members shunned him, dare i say flamed? He didnt say anything obscene or rude as far as i recall. I remember someone said My point is I dont see a great difference between him and the fictional fartface. Im worried we are creating tension here unecessarily Hinkley. I mean fartface is a fictional character hes not something worth fighting over is he? I just fear we're headed towards an argument and inevitably another showdown. :-D
  23. its the best lightsaber ive seen. I really like the chrome and you chose the right elements t build it. *y*
  24. I didnt mean it wasnt good enough for critique but that it is probably considered a bad moc by the afol community and not suitable as art. The attitude in that post was much a result of the kind of character fartface is aswell (the kind that would be banned from here). For instance he was obviously over confident. If he had come here saying "i know my moc sucks i just want to learn to be better" i would have given him a nice response that said "dont give up! No matter what!". I figured what fartface needed was humility beause we grow from humility. Edit: I should also say that the fact that he will come back here with a new moc and learn from his mistakes will ensure i wont give him such a bad wrap in round 2. Edit: Are you now saying that im a headstrong type that tears peoples mocs to shreds but that is only your opinion? That doesnt exactly cheer me up. Have you seen my actual replies to novice mocs? Im not an advanced builder myself, which is really due to lack of pieces but i can sympathize with these guys.
