Which Is Better to get Western or Pirates?
john cleese replied to Joey Lock's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
*pirate*: arrrg matey you dont be wantin some scurvy dogs now do ye? I say wild west or nothin! -
I tried to build an alternate with this set and failed miserably, but I had a very specific design in mind. Still kuds to you!
-
I should also mention that if I have to put my lego away for whatever reason I end up building with it instead. Sometimes I take it out and dont even build with it until then. It's time I get organized.

I'm pretty sure imperialscouts wasnt too far off the mark in accusing some people of voting just to make the poll even and this is partly due to the view results option, I guess. Anyway I see two options to choose our winner. A FFLMS (did I get that acronym right?) style showdown. The moc's should be bigger so there is more criteria to base them on. Or we could reopen the contest allowing more contestants to enter and see if somebody comes up with something better.

Lego SORT OF shows false 7994 picture at Lego.com
john cleese replied to RupeeClock's topic in LEGO Town
thanks for reminding me. >:-( -
This is a truly awful set but your mods have made it a lot less painful to look at.
-
this is hilarious, they're still perfectly even. :-D But my vote went to oo7, since his was scarier. Well maybe there should be a showdown between these two to determine the winner.

Miss Legoland Pageant (The Final Round)
john cleese replied to Athos's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well there are a lot of "cool" figs here, if were going by beauty it comes down to leia and the castle princess, which it has. Hence I dont see why you would want to vote for the ice-planet chick or pirate chick because they have weird faces. :-/ -
why isnt the thread closed then? 8-|

My trans elements have suffered some scuffage and I know this might sound ridiculous but is there anyway of cleaning them up a bit. I guess if there isnt, this is the price a guy pays for storing his Lego negligibly. I guess I should get some of those plastic cabinets. :-$

She does look kind of old, I think its the laugh lines.

I've been waiting for the opportunity to reply to this wonderful ship. It is sleek and well detailed overall but what I really like is the interior. *y* Having such a detailed interior and all the necesities in this kind of ship is pretty rare. I also love the robot.

The Many Adventures of the Whacker and the Walrus issue #4
john cleese replied to Hinckley's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
how about john cleese plays the John Cleese parts. X-D very funny as always Hinkley I especially liked it when Sinner said "is it just me or are Gylman, Gyla and grandma Gyl all the same guy in different wigs?" :-D -
Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
john cleese replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
there you go Sinner, basically me and Snefroe were on the same wavelength. However I disagree with his point, that using non-lego elements is more challenging, as part of the fun is realizing what a limited selection of (lego) elements can do. However lately I've been encouraged to use a bit of an unorthodox technique myself to get plates and other elements back to back (no I wont reveal it atleast until I've posted an moc using the technique). So really it's that whole notion of discretion again. It would be my choice to use these "things" :-D in an moc and if the community doesnt like it theyll let me know. BTW I already used a piece of fabric in a dirigible moc and many people didnt like it, but i'm still probably going to use the same technique if I build another one. -
Who would actually say such a strange thing? *wacko* Great moc, I usually dont like microspace, but this thing has so much detail and the fact its made out of bionicle makes it the exception.
-
well I find that these Halo MOC's are like American kids drawing manga, everyones doing it but only a handful stand out. I agree saber scorp is a little over-rated.
-
I was about to say the exact same thing. I find shadow crawler generally isnt a very good set, for parts or otherwise.

Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
john cleese replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It was doc sinister who said "I took one look at the wall thingy, baby and highchair and that put me right off." but no they dont have such a history, its irionic because Dr.S decided that scala elements shouldnt be used in mocs, yet he found an alternative use for a scala element in writing his post. -
Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
john cleese replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
oh sinner how you insult my inteligence. :-P I knew that! I even wrapped the word legal in quotation marks. :-| What I meant was that we shouldnt have some code of accepted part usage and mocers should be willing to take risks. If we have such a code, then people with good ideas might be discouraged to carry them out. -
Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
john cleese replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
wait a minute.... this is silly. :-D If you ask me using anything in an moc is 'legal' even if you want to use licoln logs :-X but ofcourse some things (like licoln logs) are stupid. I think it should be completely to the discretion of the builder and he will be appropriately commended or criticized for his work. But a thread like this shouldn't discourage anyone from building with whatever they want. I find it ironic that Dr.Sinister said he was turned off by that scala 'wall' piece when its supposed to be the back of a bench. Also I could think of a few uses for that highchair if it came in a different colour. Overall Scala is a stupid theme but finding uses for scala elements in systems moc's is quite clever. -
actually I thought the same thing, it almost looks too much so IMO
