oh its just so far there havent been many replies, so i was suggesting you raise the stakes, or rather make them. Anyway i didnt mean that i would be interested in competing. So i am going to decline your proposition and put that line in my signature anyway.

Honor is for the samurais. At least offer some kind of nominal prize. As to evil willy, well that ship is stunning. Brilliant colors, heavy armament, and a smooth design. But might i just see the captains quarters?

FORT LEGOREDO like you've never seen it before !!!
john cleese replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
aside from it having a silly appearance, think about how bad the quality of the peices could be! Assuming these are his used peices that he had to scrounge them up just to make this "snow fort" one can assume that a few are discoulered or chewed even, perhaps he might even have a few megablocks thrown in there, who knows? Infact you can already see that he's used old greys and new greys in the same moc, which for me is enough to decide not to buy this. It really annoys me that he would try to sell this. Hey does anybody else think fort legoredo looks smaller in white? -
This is way better then chapter two and this time the joke was based on the premise of the cartoon. The only thing i thought could have improved it was if the king also made a comment about the hat. maybe something like, "Yes, yes it's a very sexy hat and we all are very jealous of it, but we should focus on the task at hand right now." like proffeser farnsworth from futurama does. In number one vladek and Danju should have been talking about a time they were fighting. One of them could have made a comment about how the other almost killed them like nothing ever hapened. I'll be looking forward to chapter three

WORK IN PROGRESS: Imperial Armada Presidio
john cleese replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
anyway please read my attempt at secretly editing my reply as the first one i felt sounded harsh in my opinion. All i meant was i would need to see some up close pics of the structure before saying it should be a set. I didnt mean to offend you phes but im just giving my opinion like everyone else. -
WORK IN PROGRESS: Imperial Armada Presidio

and in doing so you made mr.Cleese all the more wiser. I love the picture and the moc. However when i imagined this set on a floor without a backround i wasn't as impressed. Its an excellent moc, but people are saying things like this should be a set, when they havent even seen more than one pic. I would need to see some up close pictures showing it's design before imaking such a statement myself. However i still think it's an excellent moc done by a superb moc'er. I wish i could photo edit like this but alas i am a noob in this area. -
i'm listening to the soundtrack from the ps1 first spyro game by stewart copeland (drummer from the police). Even though its video game music its actually very good and not really repetitive like most videogame music.

thanks for the advice. Unfortunately i know there isnt a set with this peice in black and i already checked BL for a custom one so i guess ill ask this strange species of afol you call minifig customizers. edit: they say to use vynal die, now im wondering where can you get this stuff?

so i have recently decided that eventually I would make the first ever real time twisters moc! This is going to be a huge and perhaps strange embarkment but i feel its a responsibility i must take, as their are only two out there and even so, they arent built in the time cruiser/twister spirit. More to the point i decided to go out and buy lots of space, castle and the like elements and as i was shopping I decided i would get some of those porthole panels, now i want to paint them black and also i dont want them discoloured does anyone got tips on painting pieces? BTW the moc will probably not be done until some time next year because i got a busy summer, however i do plan to paint these as soon as i recieve them.

Who wants to look at the Arkham comic when....
john cleese replied to reideen1313's topic in LEGO Licensed
i think the scythe should have used a cutlass instead of a ninja sword, maybe lego decided to discontinue cutlasses for some reason, maybe to make the afols angry? -
Im once again smelling the scent of classic castle, over the musky odour of <insert that tiresome argument> castle. Theres a glow in the dark ghost, old helmets, the set doesnt look too <insert that tiresome argument> and it looks like something i might buy in the near future. *y*

well it sure was a harsh review, when you consider that my only in tact pirate set is the BSB and that this is my first attempt at making a ship. I mean you could have at least said "This is good for your first try." or something of that effect, but all i got from you was negative feedback. So i asked what in particular disgusted you about my moc just so i could get some more constructive feddback. And phes your right, i mean the moc itself isnt something magnificence, but it is quite a nice little ship, and it's probably the poor quality photos.

Who wants to look at the Arkham comic when....

I actually counted 18: 4 wheel rims 3 <insert that tiresome argument> slopes that make up the top of the ambulance 2 of those castle wall peices found in almost every KK2/2.3 set 2 big gate peices 1 stand 4 roof peices 1 hp roof peice 1 <insert that tiresome argument> mega blocking motorcycle now still that isnt alot of <insert that tiresome argument> peices but that doesnt mean this isn't a <insert that tiresome argument> set. for instance There appears to be a lack of plates and the thing looks like its mainly built from arches and bricks. There are many different modules in this set ie: the bike, the glider, the gaurd tower, the ambulance and the three buildings. Now if such things were elliminated and instead they elaborated on the main structure, then they would have enough peices to make a fold out set with poison ivy's cell actually in the building. And the edifice itself would bear ressemblance to an asylum. In my opinion the batman line could have been alot better. So thankyou lego for making another set that i wont buy, your saving me alot of money -
i apologize for not replying sooner but I didnt think i would get any more feed back so i took a large portion of it apart. Anyway i think evil willy might have been a tad harsh in his evaluation seeing as the black seas barracuda is the only priate set i own that is fully in tact. But what is it that disgusts you about my project that didnt take alot of time due to its small size- mind you the same cant be said for thought. Maybe its the pictures, and later i'll put it back together and take better ones. Also it is a pirate ship, I left my pirate minifigs at my grandmas, so i had to say it was commandered. As to why they would bother commandering this thing, i dont know.

Who wants to look at the Arkham comic when....
john cleese replied to reideen1313's topic in LEGO Licensed
well thats a good question. Who does want to look at this monstrosity, lego has the nerve to call a set? First off it looks nothing like the arkham asylum and it looks more like a haunted house made inconsistently out of concrete and wood. Secondly its another batman set and batman and SW are harming sales on exoforce and creator sets. I was all hyped to see this amazing set and then when i did finnaly see it all i felt was dissapointment. Honestly, lego's got some work to do. Now i realize i complain alot about new sets but i just think lego should get on the ball and stop making <insert that tiresome argument> movie themed sets. -
I would say he used too many peices for that to be a classic set. If lego made the same design they would use burps and lurps. Also lego wouldnt put those tile peices so they sat loosly in the archways. However it is an amazing moc, I love steampunk.
-
i dont want to sound unfair, but in my honest opinion this is just complete mega blocks garbage. I mean the pass itself is made primarly from those <insert that tiresome argument> 1 peice wall pieces and cliff peices and castle turrets. The only parts that arent <insert that tiresome argument> are the seige engines. Sure we get the old helmets back. But buying this set will hardly be a cost effective way of getting them, as im sure youll end up hardly ever using those ridiculously junoiorized wall peices.

I saw this this morning i think its wonderful! It would make for an awsome set if adventurers did a kind of steampunkish victorian pirate line.

Orient Expedition (OE) Quiz
john cleese replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
15 out of twenty i knew all the ones about the sets. But the storyline questions i guessed on completely -
well it's just that i've heard many AFOL's speaking ill of 14YFOL's, saying "They like <insert that tiresome argument> sets because they're easier to build and they don't like to use their brains alot.", or "They only like themes with lots of action." I thought you were saying the same thing. So i took offense, because i was getting sick of afols, saying things like "6-15 yearolds wouldnt be able to connect with this theme." Anyway now that i think about it that ranting was stupid, i guess i just had a harsh day at school or something else. Then on the other hand it was only those more blatant comments (mainly on the lego site message boards and lugnet), which made me so mad in the first place. So i guess all i can do now is say sorry, then slap one of these on: 8-| folowed by one of these: :-$

next word is: lackadaisical

oh thanks there, i'm 14 and i enjoy being told that i and all other 14 yea rolds are so ignorant we cannot connect with something like poaching or arabian deserts. I think i am more accepting when it comes to themes than anyone else on this board, my favorite theme being the time twisters/cruisers! I'm also very fond of legos other "flops" like UFO, Roboforce and frightknights! The truth is i love "every" theme lego has done, the only thing i have a problem with is juniorization; further disabusing you of this dilution that 14 year olds (who actually play with lego) like <insert that tiresome argument> sets because they are easy to build. Just please next time maybe say no 6-12 year old kid. Anyway, im sorry if i came across as a little rude but i'm sure you can see how i was offended by this statement. That aside. The thing about jhonny thunder is he's been everywhere; that is everywhere worth going to and that any 6-12 year old would recognize. For example Adventurers Thailand would make for an excellent theme for any AFOL or (14 year old for that matter), we would get architecture influenced by both eastern and western asia, lots of monkey minifigs to serve as statues, probably an elephant head to use as an ornament, lots of multicolored 1x1 round plates and maybe some new thai styled minifigs. The only problem is the kids probably dont even know that thailand is a country and hence the sets wouldnt sell. Those darn kids!

tim: did you just here that? john: here what? tim: i thought i just heard someone say spammer john: oh, that was me tim: oh john: yeaa.... i for one have to agree with tim and john on this one, we certainly have a bad case of spamamitus here. A rare diseas which infects people without lives, now formally known as life noobs. This is there story. Interviewer : so whats it like not being able to stop spamming random message boards noob: its like being a noob interviewer: oh noob: yeaa.... there you are a healthy dose of scarcasm for you spammer, shoud clear that spamamitus right up. Or should we call you dark1, or perhaps djmonkey?

its an excelent building technique, but i really dont like when they disect hinges or worse, destroy, aka modify, peices. These strange building techniques really bug me, so i guess you could call me an extreme lego purist. However i find im starting to contemplate fiddling around with a few peices, maybe create my own snot element. Mind you i am 14 and doubt ill actually make anything substantial. Anyway, i voted number 2 because sometimes SNOT just cant be implemented.
