  1. mr. ghoulrealm do you actually find sex appeal in your female mf's? The kk1 princess mf head is my favorite female minifig head though
  2. well as you may know there have been alot of topics about a POTC licence theme, which later turned into discussions of a general new pirate theme and the crazy things the designers might do to ruin it, what with all their 4J boat hulls and technic cannons. Well this prospect inspired a communist idea in me. Would it be plausible for MOCers (the prol's) to design a new pirate theme without reward or acknowledgement or perhaps only with aknoledgement to a very small degree? I think many afols, with paying jobs wouldnt care if they recieved payment for their efforts because the honor of seeing their "set/s" on shelves and the satisfaction of playing with there lego alone would be enough. What are your opinions on this idea? what problems could arise?
  3. yes i too fret at the prospect of a new pirates theme, god knows what they would do. However i still think it would be plausible to let mocers build the designs for free, I think most of us wouldnt care if we recieved payment for our efforts (that is if we were selected for such an elite crew) we would just be proud to see our designs sold on shelves. ( i would appreciate some feedback on this idea as i was completely ignored last time i suggested it. I'm curios as to what problems might arrise from doing this.)
  4. to be honest I like the crappy 4J ship. Why, well that is because i like certain types of specialized pieces like the skull and cannon flaps. I would also love those red bar fences and the hull itself is wide enough to make a gallleon, as most of the galleons so far look really top heavy. the 4J ship also gets a plus has sails. Now i own the durmstrang ship and love all the little bits and pieces, like the bat, book, quill and blue flame, as well as a few gold pieces. Also what struck me as surprising was the amount of 1x3 plates you get in this set, which is great, however they are in baby blue, a color which only a certain few pieces have been made in. I also dont like the dark bley fence thing on the end, an extremely <insert that tiresome argument> part, yet one that i would actually like to have in brown or reddish brown as on the 4J ship. So out of the two ships using the new hull i would prefer the 4J ship.
  5. yes phes you make a very good point perhapos by accident, but I think your on to something none the less. It's the parents that are responsible for junioriized sets selling well and megablocks still being able to sell their crap. The parents dont care about the piece counts but rather the prices. megablocks prices i have learned are very cheap $23 for a ship the size of the SES, the only difference is the SES has nearly 900 pieces allowing for hours of mocing fun, where as its crappy megablocks counterpart has a mere 100 allowing for lots of nonsensical stupidity and pretend pirate fights. So its not because children are distracted by video games and such but because those kids parents just buy the cheapest thing available that their kids want. i also have to agree that megablocks isnt a construction toy anymore, however the parents dont seem to realize this and hence it boils down to that they will either buy their child lego or megablocks. Sounds like Megablocks should change there name to Misleadingblocks.
  6. im almost positive my AT-AT was in bley. I recall because i was going to use the arches in my old airship design and they didnt match the rest of the grey pieces i was using. now this could mean that i was using bley instead of normal grey but i doubt it. I would do a peeron inventory sheet before posting a topic myself though.
  7. well its too bad it didnt go out, because there happens to be a lot of golfing just up the ridge. I love picture wars topics, alot of forums have a topic like this
  8. im sorry but i decided the pictures werent of good enough quality so i deleted them and hence there is no need to continue with this topic. Besides i think i can improve it myself
  9. Megablocks doesnt have a POTC license, they have another crappy theme called Pyrates, of which my idiot brother has every set, hence stimulating the megablocks economy. Anyway i thought it would be neat if they made a ghost ship but the hull was king a like a rib cage, made from those new large white bone pieces found in the vikings theme. Its too hard to explain how you would do it and i dont have the appropriate pieces to demonstrate it.
  10. they havent made penguins rubber duck vessel or that train with the huge wheels he puts the kidnapped kids in. They havent made mr. freezes ice tank or whatever even though TLG claims in the titles of one of their sets that He and penguin invaded the batcave, even though penguin died before mr.Freeze was even part of the plot and it was actually the riddler and two face who broke into the batcave. I suspect however that TLG is too cheap to make the riddler minifig, maybe because of his hat, which they would have to make a new piece for. Anyway I personally hope that the bat man line is a bust and also that every other license theme is ended so we can get new original themes.
  11. oh sorry here are some deeplinks 1 2 3 4 5
  12. It is called steering wheel, ship's wheel, or simply 'the wheel'. The moc is really neat. Considering you have no or limited pirate parts, I think it turned out rather well. Awesome hull, I guess I'll have to go get the passinger plane set now! the steering wheel on a ship is called the helm, was that the word you were searching for mr oo7?
  13. alright i started wirking on an airship about a month ago, I have been toiling with it for that long, for some reson im stuck on this one. The gallery is seen below. brickshelf gallery now what i'm mainly stuck on is making the ship more detailed (as i dont think the idol head in the back is appropriate for a pirate airship. Any suggestion on greebles i should add other then more flags (are flags considered greebles?)? Should i turn the idol head into a skull? secondly the ship is only 8 studs wide discluding the wings and that means only 6 studs of width for minifigs to move around in, I would like to make it wider but everything ive tried has failed, i know i should probably try harder to solve such problems for myself but i also posted this to get your reactions to the model thus far. i realize that i take crappy photos aswell could someone offer me pointers on how i can take better ones? I used the high definition setting for upclose pics, turned my flash off and allowed the camera to focus before taking a shot. What else is there?
  14. use a black starcase it would be inside the structure anyway. And there was furniture in the BSB and other pirate sets, mainly ships. you make a chair with 2x2 round plates on top of four 1x1 round plates and a table with 1x1 round bricks used as legs and a 4x4 plate, beds are made similarly just with longer plates. you could even add two white 2x2 tiles for pillows and a yellow ornamental brick for a head rest. And a foyer is just an entrance hall, technically youve already built one.
  15. just to offer a few suggestions. First off i think you should split up the floor into a foyer or hall and atleast two seperate rooms and then furnish those rooms. Maybe one could be a bedroom where governer broadside and his fiance could sleep and the other a study. Next i would suggest that you remove the two large arches in the back and replace them with a singls 1x8x2 arch, then add spiral stairs going up to the second floor and make a seperate structure held to the baseplate with some 1x3 grey inverts for the stairs. I hope you consider using some of these ideas.
  16. thats pretty amazing. I think the trick is that the castle is only a slightly different color than it is when you hold your mouse over it without staring so it is not imediately recognized by your brain as being grey, i suppose your brain then assumes the rest of the picture is in color aswell and compensates for the missing colors itself. Does that sound possible?
  17. no gylman you seem to misunderstand, this is a single birthday gift from 4 different people compiling some B-day money together along with $100 of my own money. All i was saying was that i really can't see what the point in buying sets is when you can get exactly what you want for a project by buying in bulk. Also a new SES is the same price as this order so i still dont see a point in buying sets unless they are from Ebay where lego is sometimes undervalued. And I meant that this (along with my other lego) will suffice my needs for atleast 3 years, i imagine after 3 years i will start on some huge moc and lack certain pieces to complete it and when that time comes i'll buy more on the next closest special occasion on which gift giving is appropriate.
  18. yes its good of you to mention this, i find im often strained for pieces aswell. My solution may be a bit crazy but it was basically to buy 2006 new elements for $381 US $441 Can in hopes that it would suffice my lego needs for at least 3 years. Now the question i have to ask myself is why even buy sets? Isn't buying in bulk generally better as long as your seller has a good feedback profile and you are satisfied with the store policy? another item i've been mulling over was the idea of letting mocer's make lego designs. The way i see it is they really dont need to pay a team of crack designers to build their models, when theres a whole bunch of Afols who would be willing to share their designs for free just to have the honor of seeing them put on shelves.
  19. alright im buying 1867 new elements from bricklink. Most of the elements are specialized pieces. Some of the more expensive elements include a brown pitchfork, two light grey panels with portholes, 1x1 windows, yellow castle red knights helmet, four Dark Gray Panel, Sloped 4 x 6 x 6 Sloped with Rock Pattern, 4 1x3x6 doors in green, 2 yellow curved topped windows, 2 green curved top windows, four green lattice window panes, and every classic pirate ship hull along with the time cruisers ship hull. The whole order is going to cost me $426 US- about $493 CAN. Should I buy it?
  20. Athos you were certainly right about good deals on ebay. I just saw a saucer centurion auctioned off for a mere 5 dollars! unfortunately i missed the boat.
  21. why have you done this Athos, i dont really want to see others rubbing their rare lego sets in my face, sets that i cant have, but thankyou for showing me a set that i am now considering purchasing at a ridiculous price. Thank you so very much athos!
  22. now athos could youi please explain how the conquest horseman would be any different than the war horseman? Also what does the conquest horseman do to create havoc in the world? And thirdly why isnt anyone dead in this vig as with the others?
  23. I wouldnt want to see new system pirates in 2007! If vikings have taught us anything, it's that legos current management and design team can and will juniorize anything. I would rather wait another five years for a decent pirate line to debut than get some <insert that tiresome argument> saturated ghost pirate theme. Apart from that, this just looks like lego's counter measures against the megablocks 'PYRATES' which was a clear retalliation by megablocks upon the release of pirates 4J.
  24. those peices are only in jango fetts slave one, i own a copy
