[HELP] Making a crawler....
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i have seen those before, but i have to find springs that fit well on a LEGO axle. Probably a pen spring would work nicely, but they are not very long -

I have never made a crawler before, i was just messing around and a drive train a made climbed everything haha. -
Hey guys, i have been going back and forth with different LEGO projects. I start one and then start another one and end up taking the first one apart for the pieces... So i make a pretty awesome crawler drive system, but i dont have any shocks. Do the crawlers need shocks, or are their ways around not using them??

[HELP] Building Gearbox
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I know its confusing without pictures, but i want to finish it before i show it to you. The idea is that the gearbox will keep the speed of the vehicle going and shift gears, this way the vehicle can go faster and faster without having to stop. What im building is nothing found in the real world, it is something im creating for the Brick world. -
[HELP] Building Gearbox
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have an idea for a continuous gear box. It will actually work like a transmission, slowly speeding up without having to stop. I want a larger gearbox to do this because for my design I need to of the same gearbox. A small gear would also work, I just wanted to do it this way. I made a simple protype today. It has a total of 20 gear settings. Now I want to put some wheels under it and see how well it works. By the way it is fully rc, but the problem is, is that it is huge..... Ill work on that -

[HELP] Building Gearbox
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i found sariel's 10 speed gear. I think i will use this, but i have to figure out how to build it from the pictures -
Hey guys, i have idea for an automatic gearbox, with more than 2 gears. i have the entire idea thought out and kinda drawn out, but i am super bad at making the gearbox itself. So im wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of a nice size gearbox (6 speed + if possible). If someone is interested in doing a build together, and they want to design a gearbox for this project, that would b cool too. Thanks guys

I have a question
aminnich posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wasnt sure how to ask in a limited amount of characters, so I named it that, haha. Anyway, when you decide to build a moc from scratch, do u just build, or do u build the different components seperatey then combine everything later. I had this thought when I was just messing around with some spare parts. Personally I'm starting just to build the mechanism for certain machines. I just figured I would ask my fellow eurobrick friends -
I hope this build is what everyone expected! I am not getting any LEGO this year because college costs r on the way, but hopefully I can pick some of these up later on. Happy building everyone

I think this Model is nice, but I like the Volvo better, idk why. I definetly like the outrigger design more than the 42009 crane (that was not the best). I like the steering on the Mercedes, it seems interesting. As for the b model I like it, for a b model haha

Compact designs
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok Jim, I guess it really does not have to do with the contest. I just wasn't sure, so I thought I would mention it. As for my designs I hope to make some and share them in the near future. :) -

Whoa, now that is compact. Is it all gearbox, or separate motors? -
Hey guys, from my most recent thread, i got thinking. Smaller builds are hard to do, simple because they have to be compact. This thread is for people to share their compact mechanisms. Because of the contest, I need to make sure Jim is ok with this thread. If ur not Jim, just delete it :) thanks guys!
