  1. Do not get me wrong, I also say keep your stuff, store it away because you will want to get it out again sometime. BUT, if you do want to sell, I may be interested.
  2. Depends on what you got, post some pictures or PM me. I am always looking to expand inventory.
  3. The only problem was that I was looking for a 10L wheelbase, the one you sent me was 11L.
  4. I fixed the small wheelbase issue, maintaining the same flex in the suspension.
  5. I like when my models are 100% remote control, so the steering will be motorized. This also goes for the outriggers, I would rather the stabilizes not be manually operated. I know that sometimes manual functions are easier, but I have a bunch of PF motors, so why not use them, right?
  6. You are correct there, but I think leaf springs will be a better option in this case if I go with suspended axles. If I go with air suspension, I will need to buy more pneumatic cylinders and hoses, and I really did not want to have to buy more for this build. Plus, I do not think it will matter. Leaf springs instead of air suspension on a LEGO model is not going to be the end of the world.
  7. I hate to correct you, but you are mistaken. I have read through the manual (no, not all the languages ) and I know that this trailer has a rear steering axles as an option. The first screenshot of the manual is showing the optional equipment that you can have on your customized trailer, steering of the last axle is an option. The second screenshot shows the angles (I am not particularly paying attention to getting the angles exact for the build) but as you can see, the picture shows the angles of the steering for the rear axle. Sure, you could say that it is an optional part of the trailer and that I do not need it, but I like having a rear steering axle on a trailer. And I think it adds to the build. I am working on modifying the axle you sent me to fix the wheel base being too big. Thanks for helping me out!
  8. Ah yes! I even looked at a model crane and totally missed that. I guess I was relying on 42043 outriggers and not realizing that isn't how crane outriggers really work. Thanks for informing me, time to start working on outrigger version 4.0? 5.0? Idk I forget
  9. Too drawn out, needs to be quicker in the beginning. If this build did not interest me, I would have ended the video early
  10. Here are some pictures. I hope they do I justice.
  11. Ya I guess bigger is better in this case. But the scaled width should be around 5.5 inches. I made it 6 just to give me a little extra room. The outriggers are almost 8 inches wide. So do I have the rest of the crane 6 inches wide and have th eoutriggers stick out? Or do I just make the model as wide as the outriggers?
  12. I was hoping to give a positive today, but nope. I have been talking with @Beck about a possible leaf spring idea for the trailer. I modified it for what I needed and built it, no problems and within the 6 inch width constraint. The problem; the outriggers are still to big I have made 4 versions now and they keep getting smaller, but they still look massive IMO. I might need to go with the pneumatic/manual route for the stabilizers. Of course, I could be wrong and they are fine, Idk. Trying scale building the first time is pretty frustrating. As for the suspension, the wheel base is 1 stud longer than what I wanted it be, I tried fixing that, but then you do not get the same suspension travel with the axles closer. It is a lose lose situation. Have to pick function over form I guess.
  13. The big question is, has the jury been selected? IMO they should come from this forum, those brick building people won't understand our complexity...
  14. If you can fit a car battery, go for it!! They might a little heavy, but you can power all then motors you want!! Just take it out of your neighbors car and you have a power source!! :D Of course I'm kidding, never do that!!! 2 car batteries is really the way to go.... JK JK
  15. Sorry I am a little behind on this great build, but question, will the large gap in between the chassis and let's call it the panda area be closed off? Also, I think if the wings add to the wackiness, short little stubby wings for such a fat plane (kinda) machine. I like it!
  16. I did not quite get to finish the actually stabilizer before my next class started, but I figures I could post and see what you guys thought of it. I will try to build it tonight and see if it works as good as it looks, IMO. Thanks for the reply M5Technic
  17. Sorry for all the posts, next week I have exams so I will not have as much time to work on this project. An idea crossed my mind in Chem class today and I quick made it in between classes in LDD, here are some screenshots. Tell me what you think. I basically turned the gear racks upside down... yellow axle connector is for in/out the purple is for up/down. A lot thinner than the one I have build now, but does the same thing.
  18. 1. awesome, that would be very helpful. No rush on getting it done. 2. I was originally thinking to use pneumatics for the up/down of the outriggers for the same reasons you mentioned. The problem is that I only have 2 pumps and if I am going to using pneumatics for the stabilizers, then I cannot use them for the lifting of the boom and tilting the cabin on the superstructure. I guess I either have to use LAs on top or go to brinklink.com/take-all-my-money-away-from-me. I spend too much on LEGO monthly haha
  19. Hi beck, and thank you for your comment. The steering that is shown in the previous pictures and the following pictures are just a mock-up to show you that the rear axle will have steering capabilities. I know it is wrong, but thank you for point it out! As I have said before, the axle will be redone for suspension down the road. As for leaf springs, I may have to try building those and see if it will work or not. ould you mind if I try reverse engineering that to rebuild it? If you have an LDD file of it, that would be very cool, but if not I can try to recreate it myself. It looks like it just might work. Thanks beck for your comment UPDATE: Not a huge update, I had about 45 mins to build, so I took advantage of it, and how I am posting this. I want to keep this build up-to-date whenever I build. I decided to get an idea of the chassis size. NOTE; nothing is final in the pictures, a lot of it is just a place holder. The wheels are positioned how they would be, the outriggers are in the general location. It is obvious that the outriggers are way too big, but do you think it matters? I think that they need to redone and dramatically thinner so that the build is closer to scale. Tell me what you think.
  20. When I was discussing different suspension ideas with other members, this idea was brought up This would work, but the wheel base is only 10 studs apart, so the 2x plate can not be the 16L LPE uses in the video, and then I do not get the same suspension capabilities.
  21. Going off topic on my posts is recommended I like just talking to other members and this is a fine place to do it, or PM if you wanna be secretive Anyway, some of you know that I am going to school for mechanical engineering, so technical drawings are my.. "cup of tea" shall we. Calculations to figure out the proper scale is fun in my eyes and then figuring out how to build it is another beast. You should see all the technical drawings I have in my note books for classes of ideas for this build, sure most of them will not make it into the size constraints, but hey, maybe a future build. Right now I am trying to figure where everything should go for the most logical location. Having the battery box over the axles would be good for load distribution and the pump for pneumatiic should be in the superstructure, but I am not sure there will be enough room, so how do I build something where the pump can be in the bottom, but have hoses running up through the turn table without getting all twisted up? This is how my mind works; question question question and I sketch it out and figure out answers. It is the calculus that I dont like in school
  22. I'll be honest, I didn't have much expectation for this build from the initial photos, boy was I wrong. WOW that look really good! The colors scheme looks really well also. I am looking forward to a video. BTW, I may have missed it, but what is the wacky function? Just the vehicle itself or something else?
  23. I have been a member for 4 years on this site, I am a technic member and a technic member only. When I build something I post on here to get feedback from you guys. My building my not be the greatest, but I am working towards better and better MOCs, hopefully this one is an example of that.
  24. Oh no, this is starting to look like the last US election, the popular vote will have nothing to do with the outcome.. Nah, I'm just playing, this shows like a much better idea. A lot of people just vote on appearance and not functionality. Good idea Jim! I hope your holiday was nice.
  25. I like where this is going! Looking forward to a video, is the ride more or less bumpy?
