Nerwen noticed Guts' face carefully not react to her gift to Boomingham. She gave him a smile and returned to her seat next to him. She says quietly You have no need for people buy you things. What is it you really want? By conquering. Either by sword, or more effectively, by words. If the people all proclaim you king, then you are. Perhaps we should proclaim you King of Eubric. You are certainly rich enough to bribe a fair amount of the population. Nerwen's smile indicates she w joking, but she can see from the faces of her companions they are considering the idea.

Receiving Fabian's reply, Nerwen returns. She hands over the Enchanted Bracelet (Protects from Sealed effect, accessory), Winged Circlet (SP:2, headwear), Magical Tiara (+3 Ether, headwear, suitable for Ether users) for 110g. Then she buys a set of archmage's robes for 300g. 226g + 110g - 300g = 36g

Glad I can still surprise! Hopefully it isn't too far outside the character I've played so far. I wasn't going to go Druid, too cliché. And Paladin, well, there's too many of them doing such a fine job already. Nerwen enjoys hitting things too much to be a sage, so that left Witch and Shaman. She could still go witch in the future (and possibly sage too).

Later that day, Nerwen returns to the hall. Her stride is purposeful and step sure. Although she is only slightly built, there was now an air of coiled tension around her, a memory of anger and fire. It burned in her gaze and made her seem bigger somehow. Returning to the table she left she sees Guts and Boomingham still talking. Lawrence! You do not know what your friend is capable of. His words helped me. Perhaps you should listen to him. If not, perhaps this gift might. Nerwen hands Boomingham the Mulled Wine she just bought at the marketplace.

Nerwen steps up to Fabians shop. I wish to sell you some items. This enchanted bracelet (protects from sealed, accessory), it is just like that mage's muffler there, perhaps 20g for that. This winged helmet (sp:2, headgear), twice as good as your leather cap, so 30 for that, and this magical tiara (ether +3, headgear), half again as good as your pointy hat there, so I think 60g would be fair. If you accept all that, I'd like some of those Archmage's robes. Send me a note with your reply. Whilst waiting for fabian's reply, Nerwen buys some Mulled Wine from Portia and returns to the hall. 281g-55g=226g

Nerwen was disturbed after the the dimunitive angel's message from Ennoc. It brought to mind a part of her that had long lain dormant. Before her time with Lenwe and Eldani's birth, when she still finding her way in the world, she lived with them, a tribe of orcs feeling some nameless power that had chased them out of Ennon. There were secrets buried in her past, secrets that clearly reached even here, even far across the sea. She needed to remember. Karg's words rose in her mind joo wil be da shamans liek meh. joo wil uze teh blud majik an bash da enemez ov da orcz! A shaman? Strange will be the path that leads there. I am no hero. I am a simple hunter and a guard of Harnram joo hav a long parf. joo ar nelf. Tincan hoomeez chase uz. dey brin da darknez. joo wil brin da lite. I haz seen it! After time meditating in her small room behind the Temple of Sem, she rose, her path now clear before her. Entering the training room she sought out the Copper Fox. I wish to become a Shaman. You? You are an elf. Do you have the strength? The fire? Yes. Show me. With that, he launched himself at her, a flurry of blows striking her. Left. Right. Centre. She gave ground. Defending. Blocking. Blows struck home. One. Then another. Her strength sapped by the cuts. Blood dripping to the floor. Heal yourself! Use the blood! He shouted. A mannequin leant against the wall, it's head a globe filled with healing power drawn from the living. Nerwen reached with her thoughts. The hurt dealt by the fox threatening to overwhelm her. Then in a rush the power flowed. The globe emptied and the light faded from the mannequin, turning it back to empty dark wood. Finish it! She swung her staff in a wide arc. It connected solidly. The hollow figure shattered under the blow. Nerwen's breath came in short gasps. But there was not a mark on her. Only the shards of black wood littering the floor gave sign of the fight. Her head bowed. Copper Fox spoke You cut that close. But you do have the power. Nerwen could do nothing but nod in thanks. She strode from the room, a Shaman. Nerwen Calmcacil 262 year old female Elven Shaman Level 17 Power: 31 (Level 17+ WP:14) Health: 34 (Base Cleric 9 +Level bonus 16 +3(White Cloak) +Shaman Bonus 6) Ether: 22 (Base Cleric 5 +Level bonus 16 +Shaman Bonus 1)

Nerwen gasped when the small figure delivered the message from Ennoc. It had been more than a century since she had befriended the Orc. Hunted, haunted and outcast he had taught her many things about his people. His death in the night had occasionally brought itself to mind. Now Barty's pronouncement reminded her of him. She needed to meditate, to recall that time fully. Visibly shaken she stood and said quietly. Thank you. I... must go.

Before your time RP lesson, drop references occasionally. Then remember to come back and pick them up!

My path is indeed mine, and I must walk it. But am I wrong for seeking light so that my foot does not stumble? I have used the powers of the gods to heal others in five quests now, what kind of ungrateful child would I be to turn away and refuse their help now? I am free to refuse my path of course, just as you are. Oh Kiirar, who told you that every act of every god is good? You yourself have spoken of evil spirits. And often the motives and purposes of Gods are incomprehensible, and bad things are done to avoid greater evils. Does this make it right? Who knows? But if some people are good because they think that is what is required by their gods, how is that anything but good?

Since for sale posts go in the hall and are quickly buried, I it worth having a seperate thread with a regularly updated first post for items for sale by heroes?

Raising her glass to the drink-less paladin, Nerwen responded, I have not had much to do with the blind god, but you could well be his messenger, his angel, and with a message for me. Gods know I need one, I cannot see the path of the hero ahead for me. Take heart little spirit, no one is without hope. Clearly though he does not believe in the gods, your presence suggests the gods believe in him. Lord Boomingham, the spirit makes my point. If he manipulates circumstance to bring you to a situation, does he not also get some merit for the results? Nerwen gently takes the bottle from Guts and pours some into Lawrence's cup. Wine is better shared.

Nerwen laughs gently and lightly. I am not afraid of mystery. There is more than one god, who is to say which knows what? It would be a poor world for us if there were no surprises, and perhaps the same is true for the gods. I meant only this. You neither created yourself nor set your path, yet you would reap all the praise from your good actions? I am not denying your own will in the matter, you are right to claim some merit, but all? And I am sure you have made choices both good and bad. If there are no gods though, where is the relief from the continual torment of your failings and errors? Or perhaps you have it easier with your fallible memories, and things slip from your grasp. Nerwen paused, pondering again the differences between elves and men In any case, denying the existence of the gods is like denying the shirt you are wearing or the seat you are on or the wine you drink. Barty here clearly exists. And he himself acknowledges he is but a servant of higher powers. Is that not so? Sitting down beside Guts she said, If we are discussing such dry topics, I believe I will join you in drinking. Pass that bottle thank you.
-
Nerwen accepted the grand tonic gratefully. Thank you Thalion. And you also De'kra for your words. You both have given me much to think about. Behind her, Guts and Boomingham were sitting drinking and discussing the gods. She turned on the pair and the pale Norseman who stood nearby. Are you so befuddled by drink that you do not see the world around you, Paladin? Did you make the world? Can you tell me Olegia's span or the secrets of the depths of the crystalline sea? No? How then can you expect to know the purpose of those who made the world? You say you cannot see the gods helping you? I say, be the hand of the gods unto others and surely you will see their hand on you. I don't want to push too hard on religion here, mindful of the many different views possible. If I overstep, just send me a quiet PM. Plus, yay! photos!

Watching others visit the quest board, Nerwen steps over reads what is posted. After reading the Bonepart's request, she recalled meeting Hestia and Nemo in the hovels and signs her name under Guts' and Lord Boomingham's Nerwen signs up for quest #58

For all that I had an idea of where Nerwen was going, I don't anymore. Especially if I want to party up with a paladin. Flipz, you wrote a guide as to who plays well together didn't you? Got a short summary handy?
-
Nerwen answers De'kra and Thalion slowly. Yes, Druid... I must confess I feel little attraction to that path, which might be surprising to some who think elves are all into nature and trees and Nerwen pauses, remembering a rude comment of Guts' and dirt. Not that there is anything wrong with those things, but the song in those things is not as complex as that which swirls around people and their creations. Nerwen sighed. Without thinking, she drew the phoenix feather, given to her by Denarii, from her satchel. It's proximity to the essence of Sorrow caused it to glow slightly as it warned of the concentrated malice in the vial. She turned the plume over in her hands, deep in thought.
-
Thank you De'kra. And what became of Gali? No, I have not heard of doors of chaos. Perhaps the book we brought back from the temple mentions them? The stars shine on our meeting, Thalion. I have just returned from questing in Miranda. Happily, our party ended an evil unwittingly released on my first quest. It seems you have been busy too? I am now able to enter extra training as a hero, I was discussing with De'kra what path I should take.
-
That's how I've always said it. I had to ask about Nagure ( Nag-EWE-er apparently) EssAHgay? Scubacarrot may be a bit over me, but I'd happily be in that! Boomingham has been on my list since the aborted #21.

Thanks Rumble for having me again! Once again nice pics, especially the micro-figs at the base of the tower! Simple, yet distinguishable. And there were plenty of RP opportunities too. As a player who likes that sort of thing, I felt rewarded for playing that way with things like the essence of sorrow. Thanks for that, it's a great encouragement. I also enjoyed all the party interactions. Guts as always, Sorrow too. Nagure and Mizuki I'm looking forward to meeting more, perhaps I'll ask to run a live game for Sydney Brick Show, since they're local. Maurice I didn't get to know so well and it was a little odd having two clerics in such a small party, but it was useful during the Sorrow battle. Thanks again Rumblestrike!

So, after some time pulling bits out of storage I shot the photos for my training sequence (I even assembled a Copper Fox!) and also found the bits for a Guts, Sorrow Mizuki (=Nya, easy!), Nagure (even easier!) and a version of De'kra. All in all, I'm a happy hero. Now I just need to find time to edit!
-
My heart sings to see thee, De'kra. I have thought of you at times after our quest to find Shaun. My latest quest has gone well. We have ridded the world of a dark and evil force. But like all these things, there are unanswered questions. And to do it we released a fearsome and powerful seamonster. I wonder if Neron will forgive us that. As for now, I have the opportunity for further training as a hero. My path is not fixed yet though. Since you are here, perhaps you might tell me more of this Gali that I remind you of?

Nerwen approaches Anwyl and asks for the Ruby and Emerald to be removed from the two staves she carried. Placing 15g and her hammer on the counter she said, You can keep the weapons as part payment, I only need the gems. unmerge gem 50g x2 = 100, 2x WP:6 weapon 30g, 2x WP:5 weapon, 25g. 30+30+25-100=15g to pay. 336-15=321g Moving across to Fabian's counter, she place the winged circlet on the counter. It is a lovely piece of workmanship, but I would like the gem please. Also, I do not need two pairs of handcuffs. Nerwen leaves 50g for the removal of the sapphire and accepts 10g for the shackles. 321g - 50 +10 = 281g With that, Nerwen returns to the hall.

Nerwen returns to the hall, the goodbyes with Hlin and the Maginistra had been rather distracted, her mind occupied with the demise of the dark general and the passing of the power of the darkstar. Walking in, she saw Guts in his usual corner, and some new heroes scattered about. With no quests listed on the board, she stepped out again to do some shopping.

Heroica RPG - Quest#52: Tower of Doom
Chromeknight replied to Rumble Strike's topic in The Heroica Archive
Nerwen takes out the essence of sorrow and shows the Maginistra. There is something about these remains, but I cannot identify it. Perhaps you can? As for the leviathan, unless you know heroes that can walk on the sea bed swim like fishes, I expect he is out of reach. Also, Thank you for the staff Guts. And I believe I will try some of that rouge, just once.
