Now that the boys were drugged again, and they had a name and description, it seemd the interlude with the pirates had not set them back much. Thank you, Fueyaerea. Speaking to Guts and Eric she said Indeed, let us go. Nerwen leads the party to the harbour to find El Alligáleon. -
I had remembered that quest, but was not thinking it was your first quest.

Nerwen speaks to the mer-squid-thing The weregator's ship. What is it called? If they do not have an answer, she asks Cuttler, Mariel and hangover-boy in turn, until she gets one. -
She was conflating both the Donny and Violetta quests.

Heroica RPG - Quest #58: Brothers-in-Arms

Nerwen smiled at the troubled raider. Even dangerous criminals have families that care for them. Our job is merely to find him, not to judge if he ought be found. Nerwen exhaled slowly There is much the houses do that is concerned only with their own power. Clearly Reno has chosen to step outside his family's strictures. If the weregators are helping Reno, no doubt he has ways to shield them from his family's attention. I think it unlikely that the information we need will be found at the fort. But I am certain that you will have your chance to speak to Reno before this quest is done. I will make it so. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #58: Brothers-in-Arms
Chromeknight replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
We called them pirates, but who is to say truly that they had taken ships at sea? The mer-squid-thing in the bar said Reno talked about a secret past as a pirate, but again, how much of that might be drunken boasting? The sailors certainly worked for Reno in the past, and yes he is covering his trail but that does not prove anything, and certainly does not amount to iron clad evidence Eric must be lying. And if he is, so what? If Reno was or is Jolly Roger, that gives us more leads to follow, not less. Eric would not be the first hero to lie about the success of his quest, I am sure you heard about the debacle that was the pursuit of that Wolfgang thief. By all means, hit Eric if you need to and you think you can best him. Or refuse to trust his word, or whatever. As for the quest, if you have a reasonable suggestion about what we should do make it, with justification. But do not merely mope about complaining that people are not trusting you or that the quest is hopeless. -

Are there so many ships full of weregators in port at the moment that even the simplest deck hand could not point out which one we need? And what will we say to Nemo? "We went to a bar, they grumble against you there and then we killed some old sailors. Violently. Then we gave up searching."? And what is it you think Eric is lying about? -
Heroica RPG - Quest #58: Brothers-in-Arms

The fire from the drink evaporated, but Nerwen's hands still ached to hit something. Between them, the raiders and their dark imbued weapons had made short work of the old soaks. They were not going to be answering any questions anymore. Eric had not even spared the brightly plumed parrot that one of them had carried. She gathered up their coinpurses and quickly divided the haul into three. Here is fifty gold each, boys. Since this was a dead end, let us go down to the harbour and see if we can catch up with those 'gators. I have a feelng there is more to their story than simple generosity by Reno. Each party member receives 50 gold loot. -

Eric! Now is not the time to be daydreaming about that barmaid! Attack Popeye and Parakeet. Eric attacks Popeye then Parakeet from the front row with Godricsleif. coming up on 24 hrs since Sandy posted last round and more than 24 since Khorne's last post. As always, if he posts before the round is run, his actions take priority, but if not, the round can now be run. -

It is a pleasure to meet you also. I am sorry that we now need to beat you up. I am sure you understand. Perhaps when this is all over I will buy you a drink as you tell us everything we need to know. Nerwen looks over her shoulder to see that Eric and Guts were ready to fight. Both had the stuttery movements that indicated they had taken smelling salts This would seem like a fair fight, there is three of us and five of you. Now, Mr Guybrush, this is the END for you, you gutter-crawling cur! Nerwen strikes Guybrush from the front row using the mourning star, even if it was not as powerful a weapon as her staff, a good blow would leave the pirate in a fragile state indeed. Speaking to Eric and Guts, she said Which of you gentlemen wants to go first? Perhaps Eric this time and Guts next battle? We need not fret too much about it at the moment, let us just pile in. Battle order Eric Eric Guts Guts Nerwen -

Nerwen nods and says casually, without trace of threat. Business. I understand. I understand keeping secrets too. You appear to have a grasp of how things are done here. We will see you around. Then she stepped over to where Guts waited with the bearded men. I am now ready also. I do not believe we have been properly introduced, my name is Nerwen Calmcacil, Elven Shaman. And yours are? She looked around for Eric, having lost sight of him briefly whilst she exchanged words with the weregators. We need only wait for our friend, then we will see what you have to show us. -

Eric's return gave Nerwen another lead to follow, though she was not going to ask how he came by his information. Speaking to the oldies she said, We will follow you, but give us a moment to finish our business here. Moving back to the Weregators, Nerwen sat down again and smiled a toothy grin. Pardon me, Captain Dundee, we are looking for our friend Reno, perhaps you have spoken to him recently? -

Chromeknight replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
We could leave, but where would we go? We have not found the information we seek. It would look poor to return to Fort Boneparte so quickly. But yes, perhaps that is what we must do. We shall wait for Eric to return, then leave. I thought that I saw him head upstairs with the barmaid. Nerwen thought for a space. Her hands itched as if for a bar fight. Then she asked Guts, Did you ask them directly about Reno Boneparte? Perhaps in their gossiping they might have heard something. Better yet, I will. Nerwen approached the old sailors. She stood before them waiting for their attention to settle on her. When it had she said, Likely you old sots can not tell a reef knot from a half hitch. But on the off chance you do pay attention to things I have a wager for you. Tell me three true things about Reno Boneparte that I did not know and I'll buy you all a drink. Fail and you can stand the whole bar a tankard. Deal? -

I am sorry, I do not. But I expect we will need one if Reno has left Eubric. Thank you though. I pray you will get home safely. Nerwen looks around to see if there is anyone they have not yet spoken to about Reno. Seeing that Guts was just sitting staring she said to him softly. Perhaps those old sailors do know something. But they are unlikely to spill it unless to somone playing their game. And I think you would be much better at that sort of thing than I. -

Thank you. one last question. Did you see Reno Boneparte in here before you passed out? True to her word, Nerwen gives the young sailor a note with directions to the temple of Sem and 5 gold. Take this to Master Longhorn. he will show you somewhere to stay until yo find a berth that will take you home. -

Such talk from him is surprising. I would have thought that he could hold both his liquor and his tongue. But to take a ship, he'd first have to be on one... A thought occurs to Nerwen. She steps back to the crying sailor. A couple of gold coins and a place to stay if you can answer my question truly, young man. Did someone buy you the drinks that left you here asleep? Did they perhaps have shaggy blonde hair? A name perhaps? Yes, I know Reno's a redhead like his brother. Yes, Nerwen knows that too. If Sailor boy wants to just be agreeable to get the gold, fine. But if he corrects my misinformation, then we're getting somewhere. -

Nerwen was surprised that her use of healing did not heal the sailor-boy's hangover. She shrugged. Must have been powerful drink he'd had. Seeing that Guts had the conversation with the young sailor covered in his own inimitable way, Nerwen looked around. Eric was obviously enjoying his conversation with the shirtless barmaid. The old sailors in the corner were busy rolling dice. Only the strange pair on the other side of the taproom remained. She approached them Greetings. Perhaps you can help us. We are looking for Reno Boneparte. -

Fair winds to you then Dundee. May Neron keep you safe. Thinking that the young man may hbe in trouble if he has slept so long, Nerwen spends ether to heal the sailor of his drunken sleeping. If that does not work, she will use a remedy. -
I miss out on seeing Denarii again! I am loving the quest I'm on though. Weregators! Wonder what they'd make of Steve Irwin
