Certainly Cronk. That is why I shall focus on some of our plant enemies. -

Master Rone. Nyx is a sorceress back at the hall. My name is Nerwen. And I believe my staff will do extra damage to the mountain goat, meaning one chance in three I could kill it outright. Equally, my fiery mourning star will be good at tenderising the plants. As for order, we will only suffer one free hit, and Master Cronk counter strikes. He should take the blow. -

Nerwen fishes around in her satchel, pulling out the shackles of war, prepared to prevent any of the animals from fleeing. My understanding is the shackles do not need to be equipped to have an effect. I also assume they would have no effect on food spoiling. -

Nerwen smiles wolfishly hearing about the faun. He's welcome to try. As for a cooking challenge, I will happily participate. Although Nerwen's slim figure did not look the type to have spent much time in kitchens, she spoke up with confidence. -

That is a good though, Xander. Kitchen first then? Nerwen steps to the door to the kitchen and holds it open for the others. -

Nerwen nodded. Your pardons. I did mean security in addition to the rent. There is no point collecting what is owed but having nothing more than promises that future payments will be made. Can you give me a list of who owes what please? -

Is Master Hinkwell solely concerned with evictions or would he be satisfied with back paid rent and some form of security for future payment? -

Thank you. Nerwen steps past Altair Ziegfried without recognizing him as he extends a hand to Cronk. She opens the door and steps inside the Waltzing Dragon. -

Ah breathed Nerwen, understanding. I have heard of Lady Wren, but it is hard to seperate truth from embellishment. Stoping pure evil is goal to which one could devote a lifetime. I shall watch your work with interest. Hello friend Cronk. I look forward to hearing you play your flute sometime. -

You can see than I am an elf. I have seen more than 250 summers, including some in Duplovia, but that was a long while ago. Since joining Heroica I have fought in Dastan and Miranda and both outside and underneath the city. I harbour no grand schemes of changing the world or avenging wrongs.m I am merely making my way. And what does it mean to be an assassin of the light? I assume you do not go find light sources and kill them. You'd have to start with that very sparkly tricorn you wear. Nerwen smiled to take the sting from her words, but the question stood. -

Nerwen smiles. The quest board listed four heroes by name. Since I know you are not Cronk or Xander, that leaves only Dyric as your name. But beyond name, who are you? You are clearly a man and a rogue of sorts, what else ought we know of you? -

Nerwen moves to face the other hero who walks up without saying a word. Another cam'wethrin edan. She greets him anyway. Stars shine on our meeting young master. I am Nerwen, Elven blood-healer. Are you Dyric Rone? Replying to Xander she says, I was with a large group of heroes that faced a necromancer and a demon in a dark temple beneath the city. I then ended the tyranny of the dark general over the city of Miranda. And defended Nemo Boneparte against his own brother who sought to overthrow him. And yourself? What have you done? And have you seen Sarick? The Naga mage? I have not since Dastan. -

After shopping and a short prayer at the altar of Sem, Nerwen returns to Heroica in time for the party to leave. The bustle of the city separates the party a little, though it is quieter on the street where the inn sits. Nerwen arrives first and checks her cloak and satchel to make sure nothing had gone missing under the light fingers of tithe city's pickpockets. All good. she said, half to herself. Passing a Nôrn she sees a red cloaked man by the door, but merely nods to him and waits for the rest of her party. A she turns a shadow detaches itself from the wall. The hunter, Xander, arrived before her. She grasps his hand warmly Xander! My heart sings to see you. You look well. And well equipped. I heard you slew a dragon? -
Nerwen walks to the marketplace stopping at Elphaba's cart. She purchases an amethyst, and scrolls of weakening and blindness. 531g-100-50-50=331g She stows the scrolls in her satchel but takes the gem to Anwyl's She has the amethyst merged with her magical staff and a ruby from her bag added to the mourning star. Then she has the mourning star upgraded to wp10. And uses her grating stone on the staff, taking it to wp15. 331g-50-50-100=131g Then, leaving the marketplace via Portia's she buys two Phoenix essences to add to the other she already had. 131g-50-50=31g Satisfied she was well equipped, Nerwen returns to her room to collect the rest of her belongings and stop by the altar of Sem.

Thank you for your kind words Sorrow. I am sure I will be safe behind Cronk's shiny shield and beside Xander's mighty bow. I will pray to Helvetia on your behalf that you would hear from your father again. Though she might not answer my prayers. As I said before, when we spoke after Miranda, if your father lives he is no longer human. So you ought prepare yourself that you might not hear from him regardless of whether he yet lives. Think on what you will do then. We will speak when I return. Nerwen returned briefly to the table. I will speak to you all later. Lord Boomingham, take care of Nyx and listen to Barty. Watch over Alexis as well. Ladies. Hearts mend with new friends. A trite saying, but true none the less. Stand by one another. And Haldor, do not bite the novice, even if she asks you to. Be a gentleman. With a smile and a wave Nerwen left to do her shopping.

That day is coming. I'm working on sets and photography. When things settle down after moving house and middle of year conferences I'll be ready to apply to Sandy.

The words pierce Nerwen, reminding her again of her own father, fallen beneath the blades of Belril's undead slaves. I do understand, have no doubt. What I had forgotten was that you were human, for all that you have lived so long. Your memory is not like the elves. I can recall everything, clearly, like returning again to that time. Sometimes it takes effort and meditation, other memories are with me every day. Nerwen takes a large drink before continuing. Obviously some of those memories are less pleasant for her. If your memories fail, look to other things. Look to what he has written, created, changed. In those things people live even after they have left this world.
-
Lucian Nerwen repeated. Lucian. And what do you hear when you say it? Stretch out with your feelings. Sorrow listened spoke again. What do you mean, not his words? Is your mind clouded by hearing his voice recite the incantation?
-
Nerwen answered slowly. Unsure of how to speak. Sorrow appeared more than ever to be a lost child. I remember you spoke of the animutilav and your father after we returned from Miranda. I believe the monotheist that wears a man's face was there also. Do you remember? The one that spoke of being old enough to remember the original veterans? You are right, the time that you speak of is before I was, I am yet young for an elf. But my people's memory stretches back beyond then, from them I have studied the histories of those times. I have even myself visited the places from which you hail, though they are now different. Nerwen paused, gathering her thoughts. Time changes everything. You know that better than anyone here I believe. And four centuries is a long time to be estranged from someone. But this I know, some things do endure. The White Towers stand. The Primovian palm tree still fruits. The waves still lap Uland as they have done for countless centuries. As changed as this city is, indeed, even in the few years I have been here, the rocks on which it stands still beat a steady rhythm of pulsing magma deep below. And what of your father? Does he endure also? Is he changed by time or has he transcended? Do such questions even have answers? Death is pervasive, the one change that cannot be avoided. But it is not the end, you are testimony to that. And even if it were not so and there is nothing more than nothing beyond, still, we are not dead as long as others speak our name. Say his name, Sorrow. Let the world ring with it's sound again. You will have your answer then by listening to the echo of it.
-
Nerwen nods at Haldor's words. You look like you could use a drink. Never fear, I am sure your novice won't eat you. That generally happens on the third date. But do not be fooled, though you might not think it a date, her opinion on it may well be different. Nerwen gets up to go fetch drinks from the bar, whilst her keen hearing tracks Nyx's conversation with Lord Lawrence. As she goes she nearly runs into the pacing rogue, Sorrow. Cam'wetherin, you seem very ill at ease. Are you quite well?

Thanks for the Nerwen love guys, it's good to know stuff like that is remembered and appreciated. As is the case with pretty much everyone, there are bits of me that flow through into the character I play(write what you know!). And the philosophy stuff is one of those, since that's what I studied as an undergrad. For the record, Nerwen's speech about love derives in large part from CS Lewis' Four Loves, I don't claim any great credit. Also, I couldn't resist tweaking Scorpiox's nose about Haldor and Ameli. I'll leave it up to the reader to work out if Nerwen knows it was Haldor and is winding him up.
-
Nerwen laughed lightly at Haldor's words. I have seen much, but there is much I have not. I am still young for my people. As for what hunted the orcs, I do not know. Nor can I say the source of the red curse. I can only speak of it's effects. The afflicted are filled with rage and violence, they lose their self control and restaint. But they are also granted great strength and endurance, and some abiity to regenerate thier body, healing from wounds. The shaman I worked with toward the end of my stay sought to retain the benefits of the curse without the overwhelming anger. He was not successful. As to my family. Time is not so long to us, five decades is not a great seperation. My daughter is grown and is her own person. She has her studies and her people around her. Eldani is her name and she will reach her hundredth summer soon. I will likely return and see her then. As for Lenwë and Elladan, it is not so much that I have them, but had them for a time. Elves do not marry in the sense that you are likely thinking, one 'soul mate' bonded for life. Elves live much too long for that. Our custom is to arrange a contracts between people to achieve goals that could not be met alone. Sometimes it is for the raising of a child, like Eldani, other times it is for companionship or to explore the firey passion of mutual attraction. For us love is not free, it must be guarded and nurtured, given a context through which to flow. This prevents people taking what is not theirs and spoiling what is intended for another. A novice in a convent? Is she uncertain about taking orders and wants to taste the wider world before turning her back on it? Be careful with her then, young human females can be very impressionable and form adoring attachments quickly. I heard tell of one hero who dallied with the young daughter of a man he was working for and got her pregnant. It would be a shame if something like that happened to you. Nerwen's face was earnest and concerned while speaking about the wiles of pubescent girls.
