  1. As bad as 42108 is, I'd say 42106 is easily the worst set in this wave. Nasty A-model with the worst Technic bike ever made, and vomitrocious B-model to boot.
  2. CLAAS tyres? I'd love to witness that!
  3. The Vision was already replaced by the Pinnacle series. In turn, the axle-back versions of the Pinnacle have been replaced by the Anthem. The axle-forward Pinnacle trucks remain in production since the Anthem doesn't come with that setup.
  4. I'm not much for MOCing, but I know panels should be used near-exclusively for outer bodywork. Beams are best for structural purposes as they are more rigid.
  5. So CLAAS tyres do work with 42029. Interesting... although I do think they'd look even better on the B-model. Which, incidentally, is this in case you'd forgotten:
  6. You'd think one Liebherr excavator would be enough for most people. But oh no...
  7. Spider cranes rarely use steel tracks. Not to say that they dont; some even use wheels. But rubber tracks are the most common solution.
  8. Red looks more realistic, especially with the black tracks, which look more like the rubber treads on real spider cranes. Now that I think about it, why didn't TLG get Alfredo to use black links? I can understand the yellow, since a red version would likely look too much like 42082 with the cloned boom, but the tracks are a headscratcher...
  9. Not to mention that missing section of boom still looks fugly.
  10. The 42070 B-model is a good place to begin: Reasonably high ground clearance and CLAAS tyres, for starters. The panels used on the Liebherr truck would make great body panels as well.
  11. 8053 had a pretty good hook and that crane was designed to similar specs, so TLG has no excuse here.
  12. I've only just actually looked at that hook. That is grim.
  13. I've definitely been seeing that phrase used more and more as time's gone on.
  14. There are a few against which I recall little to no criticisms being made. Recently the number has thinned, but 42053, 42054 and 42069 are among the newer examples I can think of. I also think 42004 is pretty critic-proof. 42108, on the other hand, is not. It seems to ignore a lot of design choices seen in previous cranes, and one can only wonder why. Accessibility? TLG misguidedly trying a new approach to design? Who knows?
  15. Getting later. Soon it'll be a year after the sets release.
  16. Tout de la fruit! Je voudrais le jambon!
  17. Parts shouldn't require modification with outside materials. They should work as intended.
  18. Not sure if anyone wants to review this thing! @Sariel, @Jim, your thoughts?
  19. Not to mention the boom is adapted from the one on 42082, which used L-motor-powered twin actuators. Using a small gear to slew something that heavy is easier said than done.
  20. Wouldn't say that's much of an option. Availability doesn't seem to be great; the only lot I could find outside of the Hyact site (whose English page for AquaBrixel doesn't work) was a small set from a German seller, and it was fairly expensive.
  21. Preach it. It's very noticeable in 42049 and 42054.
  22. So much for Alfred's rule of "Keep it simple"...
