  1. They did have a theme very simular to that in the early 90's. It was SPACE POLICE and BLACKTRON.
  2. Nice review! This is a great set! My girl friend bought this for me a couple years ago for my birthday. This set brought me back into lego! Ithink this was a fairly easy build by techinc standards. I have since made mine a dual rear axle (total of 3 now) and built a trailer spicificly for it. On a side note..... If you decideto build the crane attachment, you can still pull a 5th wheel trailer!
  3. Well, i guess i was asuming i'd have to take your pink star along with your title. Thats all.
  4. Ha Ha!!! Ya, i figured it wouldn't, but i was bored so i thought i'd give it a shot. Thanks for the offer, but i don't think the pink goes with my avatar! :-P
  5. I want a title! I want a title! I don't think i will be able to sleep without one! X-D I guess i haven'tmade a big enough impact get one yet. I guess that is a good thing! ;-)
  6. That was absolutly halarious! Can't remember when i laughed so hard! Defently gona have to watch that again!
  7. I beleive Adult swim starts at 8pm on cartoon network, and goes to around 3am. or later. I'll defently have to check this out tonight!
  8. Yes, i remember seeing that a while ago. They had a couple examples made by AOLF's. I beilve there was a mustang, deloren,a VW bug and a couple others. Yes, i a Hummer H1 would be a great choice! As far as the creator set, yes i have seenit, and have even bought it. This is a great starting point. If we could have somthing in mini fig scale than we would have it made!
  9. But here's the problem. Licensed theme or not, Lego is violating its own "policy". You can be in denial just as much as i am optimistic about seeing a military theme. Its happening right in front of your eyes. And lets say that they did in fact want to stay away from "human vs. human", i don't see why a USC tank, airplane, or humvee /Jeep couldn't be made. I'm not saying that it will happen, but it seems every year they come a hare bit closer.
  10. Ok, so we all know that Lego has this "anti-war/violence" policy with there toys, whitch is why we haven't seen any military vehicles, bases,or such. But lets be honest, Lego has been testing the fields with "violence" for some time now. For example.... Batman.. Batman has not nessasarly been specifically about violence, but it has always been asociated with it. Lego even has guns included in there sets. I know some have argued that there tommy guns, and not modern day weaponry, but that argument doesn't fly. Guns are guns. Period. Doesn't matter what time period there from. Pirates.. Pirates preetry much reek of voilence, i mean there basicly robbers at sea. Also the imperials have guns as well. Starwars... The hole theme/story is based on a war. They as well have weapons. They are now including sets with weapons that actually fire. (the new star destoryer for example). Dino.. Though that line wasn't very sucessful, it did employ alot of what lego said ther would never do. And i really don't beilve that was the reason it failed. Anyways, lets get down to the new "spies" idea... Now this doesn't even have to be about violence. In fact its not. It could be just about what the name implies. I think there are alot of possibilites with a line like this without being concidered a "violent" line. BUt i think that a line like this could open alot of doors to help lego go "outside the box" so to speak. So lets start out with a couple examples. A undercover van..... This could be a 6 or even 8 wide van. It would have a plumbers, or some kind of delivery sticker on the outside, and on the inside would be computer servailnce equipment. Have 2 mini figs. One with a plumbers/workers uniform, and one in a suite and tie. Undercover car... Nothing big here, but a 4 or 6 wide suv (black in color maybe?) with a trunk that has some equipment like a suite case, binoculars, and a flash light. It would also have some low profile red and blue lights (this is under cover after all :-) ) Mobile Comand rig... Simular in size to the Ferrari Scudera truck, but with a full command center inside. Maybe even have a spot inside to carry a couple motor cylces. This could have a slide out to give more room inside the trailer, and have some retactable antena's and radar dishes on the roof. Somthing simular has been done before. If i remember it was called "survailance Squad." Spyplane.. A 2 person aircraft that is primarly designed for high altitude survailance. No weapons. A retartable landing gear would be a nice touch as well. It could also come with a small vehicle like in the new airport that would moce the plane around while on the ground. Radarplane.. This could be an easyone. Use the same plane as the new Air liner, but put a bunch of computer equipment, and survailance equipment inside. ON the outside would be a large radardish. Defently a doable idea. Stealth bomber.. This could be a "wing" or swept wing style large aircraft. A pilot, and co-pilot sidtting side by side, with a navagator/bombidier sitting behind them. There would of course be a bomb bay with .......bombs! X-O The door, and bombs could be activated with some kind of lever on the top. A retracable landing gear would be a nice touch. Base camp... This could be a hanger, building, preety mujch anything with some office space, a place to store a vehicle or two inside. This would also store all of the spies equipment, and of course be the main HQ. It would also have a seperate room for interagating prisoners, as well as a small jail. A swat, or "comand team" This would include a couple of militsry style humvees or jeeps, or even some heavy duty SUV's The agent's would have to have some kind of weapons, and the Hummvee's could have turents on the top with some kind of cannons. Possibly even ones that shoot. (this has arleady happened in past sets, so its nothing new. So what do you guys think? I think this (or somthing like this) is very doable. It doesn't emply violence any more than any other theme meantioned, but explorers the posibility of introducing a line with a more "military" feel without actually crossing that line.
  11. Well arn't most USC sets 16+ anyways? BUt there's nothing to say that they would have to be just USC sets. You might be seeing some city sized "humvee" or "jeep" style vehicles in the futrue. I know, i know, i'll get the "Lego will never make military style vehicles cause it violates there anit war/violence policy! It will never happen! Sorry to say Peeps, but the signs are all around us. Lego is testing to see how it plays in everyday lego themes. I'm not saying that lego will start a "war" theme or anything, but i don't see it being unlikely seeing an F-16, or F-22 (or anything wrong with it for that matter) They don't even need to have missles (to make europe happy). We can alsway add those ourselfs. I don't think idea is to far off.
  12. Its preety obvious that lego is starting to stray away from that "policy" as seen by many of its present themes. Just wait, you'll be seing tanks, and jets as USC sets in no time. ;)
  13. Looks like the U.S. realse has been pushed to July 3rd. Also, be carfully about the transformers movie site. I visted the new site and clicked on the "robots" section. My computer froze, and had to be restarted twice. Just a heads up.
  14. Couldn't agree with you more. I'm glad that there making an example out of her. She voilated her suspened licsence not once, but twice, and has the nerve to say "she didn't know". Maybe other celebs will get the message. Oh Captiantau, i LOVE your sig! :-) Awsome!!! *y* *y*
  15. She's the daughter of the owner/founder of the Hilton hotels. She's just a spoiled rich brat. But she was made famous by some very scandiouls videos that popped up on the internet. Ever since then she makes it a point to somhow be the spot light. Glad that the judge threw her megablocks back in. Oh, and the sherriff that realsed her is being asked to resign. The sherriffs department is being sued now buy multiple people because all were sic (really sic, not the fake crapthey made up for paris) that were never even considered to be released for house arrest.
  16. What do you mean by changing the looks? Your going to have to beef up the frame a little bit to acomodate the added power of the motor.
  17. Only the 8 wide trucks done fit. Six wide fits no problem. Like i said, with lego trucks getting bigger, i wouldn't be surpised to see road plates that will be big enough to acomodate the new 8 wide trucks! *y*
  18. Um, i don't quite understand what you meant buy that Joe. I understand that people have a strong following to certain toys. I'm not saying that if legos didn't have licenses no one would buy them, but they certaintly have helped.
  19. Well, Playmobile might still be around, but i wouldn't say there doing well. Iv'e seen the same 2 sets on the shelf of target and TRU for the last 2 years. At least here in the U.S. Maybe because they haven't changed in years is because of that. Again, also they might be doing what AFOL want, but not nessasarly what kids want. My nephew has some megga blocks because he loves the POTC movies. He could care less if its lego, or megablocks. Its the fact that there POTC. I've tried to get him regualar lego pirtates, but he'll choose the megablocks every time just because of the name. I'm also a big Catapilar Tractor fan. I know that megablocks has a Cat lisense, but i won't stupe to that level! :-P But if they did have that lisence.... I'd be in heaven! Me myself, i don't mind licenses (as you can see). I don't see anything wrong with them. If it helps apeal to certain audiances, then why not? Somone already made a good point, that kids today just don't have the imagination that kids had years ago. I think that its just differnt generations. Lego sees this, and is changing to suite with the times. Could they have sticked with there guns and just kept to there roots? Maybe. But like gylman said Starwars hepled them from becoming bankedrupt. Why? Cause not only kids can relate to Starwars, but AOLF and even people that never would have bought lego. Just plain Starwars fans. This can also be said for any lisence. Lets take ferrari for example. I know quite a few people that have purchased ferrari sets that have never played with lego because there huge ferrari fans. For some of these people it introduced them to lego, and know they are coloctors of all types of lego. Nothing wrong with that right?
  20. Absolutly great point glyman! Joe it looks like your thinking from an AFOF point of veiw and not a kids. Sorry, but worked 15 years ago isn't going to work today. With all the differnt cartoons and what not to relate to kids, its just natural for lego to take a chunk of the action.
  21. Exellent point. This reminds me of the converstions that have been transpiring about the new Tansformers movie. There are certain catagories of people that movie makers have to apeal to. Some are the diehard POTC fans, some historics, and just people that want to be intertained . Imperial scouts is right. This is not a documentary, but a movie. To be honest, i never would have known the facts about the black pearl, or Davey Jones if Mr Mandalorien hadn't meantioned it. And i'm sure 885% of the movie veiwers wouldn't have either. Movie people can't get everything right, and somtimes they have to decide what is going to make them more money.
  22. ok, please no one take this the wrong way but now i think some are digging way to much into this. I can see having a pole about the 4 vs. 6 wide and all, but saying rounding off to 4.75 feet and all is just a bit much don't ya think? Lets remember why we started with legos...To have fun! I can't see some having fun if they are looking this deep into this subject.
  23. Great point! I used to make my own storyline with my legos. I remember Ice Planet 2002! Probbly one of the best lego themes ever! I remember writing a story based on ice planet for school! I might even still have it somewhere. Bring back Ice Planet 2002!
  24. Just played Forza 2.................. oh my god. Best game ever!
  25. I have to agree with Glyman. Although i haven't had as bad experiance with ups as he has, they have given me more problems than anyother worlwide shipper. I us the U.S. postal service for all my overseas shipping. Never let me down . Ive shipped to Norway, Aulstrlia, England and recieved for all those countries as well, all from U.S. postal service without one hick-up.
