4 or 6 stud wide cars, which do you prefer ???
5150 Lego replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Town
Long live six wide! Though 4 wide for a car is ok. But to be more realisic, six wide is better. I think every truck from this point on should be 8 wide! I'min love with 8 wide rigs! I really hope to see more 8 wide rigs in the city line up in the near future. But in the end, 4 wide for cars is ok, six wide is defenatly prefered and ok for small trucks and 8wide a must for big rigs! So i guessmy vote goes for 6-wide. -
Ya, i can't seem to find ironhide, or starscream voyager figs yet. Only Rachet and Blackout. Atually,i just found Blackout, but the boxes were damaged. :-( I'll be going to another Target friday to get him. There having a sale! Ultra Prime, let me know what figs you want, and i'll check to see what i can find. I know i've seen quite a few classic figs, so let me know the ones you want, and i'll see what they have!

Funny, i just saw the preview for that on adult swim. Looks good! I really like the music! Cool rendition!

Just put heavy hauler toeghter myself! I love it as well! Thining about doing a second review on it as there were a couple points i felt were missed. I really think Lego hit it on the mark with the 8-wide trucks! I agree that the truck stop could be a bit pricey, but man wouldn't it be worth it?!?! X-D Com'on lego embassadors....... I think we have a winner here!

The banana phone.....................ya. 8-| Now the family guy clip, that was great! I must have watched that about 10 times!! Halarious!

Sorry, but i completely disagree. Time to stop living in the past, and get with the times. These new builings might be big, but there more to scale than anything we've had before. Classic town was nice, but not real enough. As for 4-wide, blah. Just doesn't do it for me anymore. Again, 6 and 8 wide gives more detail, and are more to scale than ever before. I understand that 8-wide might be a bit big for the current streets avaible, but just wait. I'm sure you'll be seeing street plates that are 2 to 3,or even 4-studs widder to acomodate the new vechicles. I for one can't wait!

Great ideas! I espeacailly like the car transsport idea. A simular cab as the new heavy hauler. I'm curious as there are a couple types of car transports. This is typical of what you see in america. It hitches up at the bumper rather than a conventual 5th wheel over the rear axles. This would be nice. This style is more typical tractor/trailer style like the one you meantioned Both would be nice. I guess the advantage of the 2nd design would be you could use the cab to pull other trailers in the yard. I beilve somone meantioned a shipping depot. This would be perfect! Speaking of trucks, how about a truck stop? There could be a restrantwith a waitress, a cook, and even a hostesess. A mechanics garage with two bays, a lift, a bunch of spare parts, a tire rack with spare tires and couple of mechincs on duty with a tow truck standing by! There would have to be a couple of gas pumps with a spot for trucks to park and relax for the night. As far as the trucks go. Ther are plenty of possiblites. A container truck is a must, as is a tanker truck. I' think it would also be great to have a truck with double trailers! This was a great set.... I have to disagree with you on this. Though the vechicles may be getting bigger, i think they are more to mini fig scale than before. Even if they are getting as big as some duplo, the detail is much better than before. I welcome more 8 wide trucks, and 6 wide cars trucks!

.....well, ifyou guys are serious about getting these, or aren't getting certain figs that the U.S. is getting, i wouldn't mind picking up a few figs for you guys and shipping them out to you......

Thanks for the nice coments guys! I have a couple other stories the works. Stay tunned! -
I went friday, and found a few of the new movie toys. I found barricade, jazz, brawlI and the 8 wheeled white and gray tank. Sorry, i forgot his name. Is he even in the movie? I only picked up barricade at this time, as i wanted to try and find ratchet. After 2 stores later, i found rachet! They also had movie prime, but at $45, i think i'm gping to ask my girlfriend to get it for me! So I picked up Picked up movie deluxe baricade, and voyager Ratchet . I'm quite happy with both. but i do have a couple "gripes" with the figures. First lets start with barricade. Great over all figure. Good detail, espeacaillyin vehicle mode. If you lower the push bumper a mini frenzy figure comes out. Not a big deal, but a nice touch too. My main gripe is the balancing im when in robot mode and switching him back to the mustang. Hard to get his legs to fold back correctly. I might just need to practice a bit more. Now ratchet. I'm very pleased with him. Great detail in both vechicle and robot modes, and his shield( the roof rack in hummer mode) has a sort of spring action. Very nice. Preety simple to transform too. My only problem is theres a color differnce on the door. I'm guessing because of the different plastics. Its anoying, but i can live with it. other than that its great! Since all od the toys should be avaible today, i'm going to try and find voyager blackout, ironhide and probbly deluxe jazz. Funny. When i went to see POTC 3, there was no TF trailer. Sucks cause i was really looking forward to seeing it. And the trailer you saw brainbox i beilve is the sameone that was in Shreck 3.

Pm's sent!

Although its only the 1rst,i'm going to see if i can find some TF toys at TRU, wallmart, target and other toys stores. We'll see!
-
I'm really looking forward to getting Rachet. He defenatlyhas the best vechicle mode out of the autobots. Maybe out the decepticons as well. From the pictures iv'e seen, the detail is really good. Icuriousthough. What do you mean that ratchet will destroy the planet in hummer mode? *wacko*

Great review Knorne! One question, how does the trailer hitch up to the truck? Does it hook up using the standard ball, and socket metheod, or somthing new? By the looks of it, it looks like a differnt style hitch than were use to seeing.
-
I really like Ironhide. Looks goodin both vehicle, and robot mode with lots of detail. Not so much starscream. I like his robot mode, but his vehicle mode is to bulky. Espeacailly with the gunds under the wings. Not proportioned at all. also the color is differnt than in the movie. I think it would have been better to keep him the dark grey color.

4wheeling fun!
5150 Lego replied to 5150 Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We decided to head back to the rock quary. Louie had a fix for some rock crawl'in, so we made one last trip before we called it a day. Louie tried to to take the hard way though, but it seemed the rocks got the best of him, and he got hung up. I took the easy way around so i could pull him out. Darren pulled out the winch line from Louies rig,and hooked up to my trailer hitch With a gentle tug, louie was free! All in all, it was a good day. Other than a busted fog lamp we all made it home in one peice. I hope you all enjoyed my little story. All the pics can be found on my brickshelf album. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=256016 -
So a buddy of mine was going out off roading over the weekend, and asked if i wanted to tag along. I hadn't really taken my rig 4wheeling before, but i thought what the heck. Lets have a little fun! Here we are meeting up and discusing the day ahead. This was my rig. Mine is mainly set up for towing and hauling. Not much suspention flex but decent gound clearance. My buddies asure me that they won't take me anyplace to diffacult. Here we havemy buddy Louiein his rig. He built his for off road recovery. High ground clearance, short wheel base and lots of suspention flex. All set and ready to go, we head out! We make our way onto the trail. Louie being a bitmore experianced didn't hesitate to tackle some rocks we came across I had some fun too, but took it easy We made it though the rocks, and continued to the next part of the trail Louie gets some flex going I take the same line Make our way though the forrest This part of the trail got a little tight. My rig was alot narrower than Louie's,so he let me get though just in case he needed to use my truck to winch himslef through. It was a tight fit, but with darren guiding me, i made it though. Louie makes his first attempt. He was too wide to drive straight through,so he had to ride the ledge. Things got a little tipsy.. Darren even hung on the side of some counter wieght. ..but louie just locked front and rear differentials, and just muscled his way up, and over the edge, back down to the other side.

I beilve so. I uploaded from my camera the same way i always have. How do i check to see if the file is correct? I apoligize if this is a stupid question. I just got my camera about 2 months ago, but just recently have been posting pics from it on the net. Ok, so the pics arein this format.. JPEG image 640x480 image size size 143 KB Same as the ones i posted before

First, i aopoligize if this is in the wrong forum. Iv'e been trying to upload some pics onto brickshelf for the past few hours, but have been having some trouble. I am fine right up till it asks me to upload. I upload as instructed, and everything seems to be ok, as when its done uploading it says upload sucsessfull, but then there is nothing in the folder. The folder is there, it just says its empty no mater how many times i upload a pic. Anyone have any sugjestions.? I've posted picson brickshelf before folloing the same steps i just described with no problems. Ieven posted a link to it herein the mocs forums. Any help would be apriacated.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
5150 Lego replied to DoubleT's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just came back from seeing the movie. To be honset,it was a bit of a let down. Not nearly as good as i was hoping with all the hype. Defenatly feel the second was better. It did have its good parts though Don't want to give any away being that this is only the 3rd day its been out. I do agree with most of what sir dilloin said in his slight spoiler post. My main problem was that i felt some parts were a bit hard to follow. Anybody else fell that was the case as well? I've seen all three, and hadn't had a problem with folling the story of the first 2, just parts in the 3rd that were confusing. -
Is it available? I thought the movie toys weren't going to be available till june. If there out now, then i'll go get them all!
-
You know whats funny? The later of the batman movies was really more accurate to the original series than the first to movies were with all the witey humor and "cliches' and catch phases and what not. What worked once, may not work a second time around. Again, we'll have to wait and see.
-
Umm... What do you mean "novelization''?
-
Its funny. I just got a call today from my 11 year old nephew who saw the peview in Shrek 3. Ive never heard him so excited before! He asked if i could take him to see it. Oh couse i said yes! Ieven told him that i'd take himon june 2nd to TRU to get the new movie toys when they come out. (he did get A's and B's on his report card X-D ) ok,ok... Its also an excuse for me to get some too. :-P Even if the movie isn't that great, it will defently be fun to go see it with him and the rest of the family. Speaking of shreck 3, for the brief period i visited the TF forums, they said there is a third preview out that can be seen in the previews of shrek 3. Can't seem tofind it on line though, but they said it was a better one than the first too main trailers.
