The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?
tkatt replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My kids have no problem mixing the Friends sets in with all the other Lego they have. Batman and Andrea are good friends. Mia has donned the Iron Man helmet and saved the day. The ewoks have partied at Oliivia's house along with dozens of other minifigures. My son has nothing against the Friends line and usually helps his little sister put her Friends sets together. I personally wish the Minidolls were slightly more like regular minifigures. I don't mind their shape, but if they could move their legs independently and rotate their hands they would be much better. -
These are great, and inspiring.

Looks great.

I use the soapy warm water soak method, but I add a step. I fill up a stainless steel mixing bowl with a quart or two of Hydrogen Peroxide and after rinsing the soapy water from the pieces I put them in the Hydrogen Peroxide for about a minute. I then use a salad spinner to get most of the liquid off, then I put the pieces onto dishtowels for an hour or two until completely dry. I like the Hydrogen Peroxide for sanitizing and it dries without leaving water spots on the bricks. It doesn't seem to harm the plastic and actually tends to leave a nice shine that I don't get with water alone.

You have done a wonderful job working the Friends color palate into this set, it's too bad Lego doesn't make a motor in hot pink : )

About how many extra pieces did you need to do this? It looks awesome.

Don't forget an all grey minifigure as part of your greebling if you want to be accurate to the studio model. http://starwars.wiki...torMan-SWTC.jpg Looking forward to more pictures of this.

They recently optimized the Shop@Home site for phones and tablets. Basically the mobile site has been redesiged to fit a small screen and be a little easier to read. About a month ago I got an email invitation to check it out followed by a survey, otherwise I wouldn't have really noticed.

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
tkatt replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Perhaps the Brinklink seller works at or lives near a Lego factory and are able to collect the pieces straight from the factory. http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e7e45b6c3 Have you ever seen listings like this on eBay? Some of the elements look unfinished or like they may have been rejected by quality control. My guess is that they end up in the garbage and this seller either works in the factory and is able to take the rejects home, or is dumpster diving in the alley behind the Lego factory. It may explain how the seller gets pieces that aren't readily available yet, as they may have been part of a pre-production test run that was discarded. I bought an all white Friends Hedgehog before the hedgehogs were actually in any Friends set (that was probably a prototype or error) from one of these Hong Kong sellers. It's in this set. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=75019-1 Next we have a character in his first outing as a LEGO Minifigure, the Vurk Jedi Coleman Trebor. This is a very interesting Minifigure, featuring one of the oddest head moulds ever created by LEGO, which is a fantastic interpretation of the character from the film. The piece is cast in a slightly rubbery plastic and is dark bluish grey, with printing for his eyes and lots of detail moulded into the component. His torso is much like many other Jedi torsos, with tan robes, although this figure has some dark grey skin visible and a nice belt printed on the front and back. His legs are printed with a continuation of these flowing robes and he carries a green lightsaber.

Did you place the order on your mobile device? I'd heard that might be the trick to receiving the Shop Minifigure.

We've been told that there will be a line of sets from the LEGO movie, and that the movie will involve many of the classic themes. So perhaps a new castle set will be a part of that lineup.

My kids flipped out when I found these. Yes, they are basically 22 minute commercials, but they are well done. I hadn't heard of this before and I'm not sure of the origin. Perhaps another Eurobricker knows more about these.

I was excited to get the latest shop at home catalog in the mail this week, due to the 10% off coupon that is included with it. I headed to the Mall of America Lego store with the intent to buy the Haunted House. When I presented my coupon I was told that due to a new Lego policy it could not be used on any exclusive items. This is a fairly new policy, (I used the coupon for the Palace Cinema just a few months ago). It turns out that Lego will not allow any retailer to discount any exclusive set, even their brand stores. So it appears that any set with the 10xxx number will never be sold for less than what Lego sells it for.

Pretzels, the small ones. They have no grease and can be eaten in one bite so there are no crumbs.

The Lone Ranger was a T.V. show. It ran in the 1950's. It was popular, but the fans are now over age 60. The Simpsons had a full length movie a few years ago. I think that Licensed sets do very well if the sets appeal to both kids and adult builders. Star Wars is interesting to many generations, Avatar not as much. As cool as some of the licensed sets are I feel like they can limit Lego, the unlicensed sets give them more freedom to do whatever they want. I'd like to see new Pirates and Western sets come out, both in the Creator-Modular style.

Nice review. As far as buying the parts goes, on the blog the New Elementary caperberry figured out what it would cost to buy the parts from Bricklink and discovered that it would probably run you at least $150 to purchase them all. But you wouldn't get that great looking book or those sorting trays. It would be cool if Lego puts out some supplements for this, perhaps just colored bricks without the book, at a lower price. http://www.newelementary.com/2013/07/like-virgin.html

Back To The Future on Ebay already?
tkatt replied to THEBIGYINN's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I've saw one sell for about $70 tonight. It would seem the buyer had more money than patience. -
I have been using the site for the past few weeks and I really like it. I've done 7 orders from 4 different sellers, and so far it's been good. I like the way the site looks and operates. The only issues I've had are: At first I couldn't figure out how to view open carts, but then I noticed the link for them on my homepage. I'm not sure if it was there all along and I just didn't notice it. Some elements have no pictures- I'm not sure who is responsible for putting in the pictures, sellers or the site operators. I expect that more images will be added in time. Some elements aren't availble, or the amount for sale is small- I expect that to change as the site grows

Mall of America Polybag Giveaways, including a new Friends element.
tkatt replied to tkatt's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for fixing that for me. -
This is my first post forgive me if it is in the wrong place, or if the photos don't load properly, or if it is simply not interesting. This last weekend at the Mall of America here in Minnesota, there was a LEGO takeover. They were heavily promoting the Chima, Friends, and TMNT product lines. The freebies were nice and the event was pretty fun (for my kids). One thing that caught my attention was in the Friends polybag. An apron that is essentially a forward facing cape for the minidolls. It is the same type of material as the capes. The neck holes only fit the minidolls but regular minifigures can wear it if you use certain wigs to hold the neck staps to their backs.
