No, you still do not understand at all, sorry...please, learn a bit about the converter first. -
Source .png files of LEGO decorations
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
In LDD2POV-Ray converter/renderer you can specify substituing images (decorations) for a brick (n case specified brick can be decorated) and that way you can decorate hypoteticaly with any picture/decoration you may want (.png file) thus having decorations which are actualy not in LDD itself. ...and what I am asking is if anyone know any source (be it URL with such .pngs, direct link to such .png etc.) of such already made .png files (decorations) so one do not need to do it himself by hand from scratch...hope you understand now what I mean. -
Is there any known source of .png decoration files that we could use as swap decors in LDD2POV-Ray convertor thus having bricks with decors not presented in LDD itself? Any URL, zip/rar or direct link to such .png would be great (mainly having on mind decors of Classic Space era: golden planet pattern, all kinds of grils and arrows etc.)

What size should custom decorations be?
___ replied to Cult_Of_Skaro's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
well, actually, LDD internal decors are 128x128 pixels .png -

Please, can you share that Classic Space decorations for replacement in LDD To POV-Ray, please? Or any other you have...like grills, arrows etc. as I am looking for such pic files (probably .png) but unable find them anywhere, ah :(:(:( -
LDD LDraw export issues
___ replied to Renderbricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
ax, ay, az...those should be angles on x, y and z axis, like if "ax=0 ay=-1 az=0.5 angle=2.500" it may simply mean that it rotates only on y axis CCW by whole value of "angle" (in radians as someone else before me correctly said) and 1/2 of that value on z axis in CW ;) +tx, ty, tz are translation (location) values as you may know... That is my opinion, it is very easy to try change those values an see what it does in MLCAD/LeoCAD etc. ;) BTW I also corrected some bricks wrongly rotated by LDD export in ldraw.xml, absolutely no problem whatsoever -
Sounds great and I would buy it right away (if they accept bank transfer instead of card?), I am just somewhat lost in what is "volume 2, issue 6" (is that "THE" exact source you were citing from those interviews?) and where/how to purchase that digital version...

Still too much philosohping here, guys, don't you think? New bricks or older, that is not the case...you can build airy builds with all the new stuff too cos AIRYNESS and HARD ABSTRACTION were some of the main concepts of old CS sets. You like todays sets because they are more accurate to some real stuff BUT that is exactly what I do not like in todays sets - different ppl different tastes, and it's OK, BUT if we try to find out where is the main difference its in what I said before: todays designers try to make not toys where kid needs a lot of imagination but instead are trying to build something which if had real engine would fly to space, gee, I do not agree with this concept at all, that is. Yea, those cars you are comparing is really like comparing rogallo with space shuttle BUT that first car nevermind its infantility looks to me like LEGO, not that second one. @Artanis: what? I do not think old CS sets sucks today, gee where you got it from? are you like 20years old pr something? ...well, maybe for you they are, but deffinitelly not for me, I like abstraction, airyness, build something with few bricks, not filling every empty space with some brick because in real space those empty spaces would kill astrounauts bla bla bla...what is this discussion good for really? I mean: it's much harder to build something abstract that should represent something than build set that looks so unbelievably real, that is my opinion on this. @Faefrost OK now compare how looks those old militaristic things with those of today, for example those of Space Squad...I do not know how about you but those old looks like nonviolent happy toys although they are guns and rockets actually, but those of Squad OMG I would be affraid to walk close next to it in the night alone P.S.: also all todays designs seem to me so similar to each other, oh! and it also means for most of the MOCs I saw, sorry

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

I guess we all know the answer... -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
___ replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Right, that is what I'm talking about...but actually adding it as "tickable" option in preferences would do it + also I do not understand why would it be that of a problem? Then why we are asking for things at all if this should be a problem? Kind of a simple internal scripted bevel would do it for LDD (hope you understand what I mean because my english is not so good) -
Hey guys I guess you all got it somewhat wrong: question is not what LEGO wanted/meant or if their antenas and stuff were meant to be guns or whatever - there is too much useless philosophical rhetoric here (children and especially young boys will make pewpewpew of everything when they are playing, if you ever see one playing in your life, cmon ) - who cares, but no matter what they thought and why the real actual point is that the old CS SETS DESIGNS WERE VISUALLY NOT THAT BULKY, BRUTAL AND MILITARISTIC as todays sets are, end of discussion...that's it, my friends Please, can you give us all link to that actual interview? I cannot find it anywhere...or did you mean normal paperprint? I hope not...

RENDERING: visible parts connections
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I do not know now if it was directed at me dealing my seams effect but if so then thanx! And it is made by combination of modifiers, not shaders (to my knowledge there is no such shader in Blender depository, or even better said I did not heard about modifier shaders...but I can be wrong as I am still new to Blender but from what I know there is none such shader) -

Actually they are not at all and I explain it right away , but hey guys did anyone from you have ever build with real bricks? Well, probably not it seems... when you build with real stuff especially with those reversed slopes used in the middle of the stairs THEY ARE MORE LIKE TURN A BIT TO EACH SIDE hence the bigger seam there and I can guarantee to you it is much reallife then some virtual nicely aligned bricks that looks too unrealistic...besides I personally own this set and in my case yes, there is a bt bigger seam exactly at that place, so... Anyway it is still not in its final phase so there is a good chance I will change it if I decide to...but I like this for reasons I described above This is not final render, juat a quick one to show what my addon does (I did not want to wait for a quality render for tens of minutes, you know), nothing else hence those "fireflies" in trans. yellow window which is caused by not well setup renderer, that's it so no problem Yea, thanx, actually it looks like I do not release my addon as from yesterday it looks like I could be probably part of the LDR Import plugin team and I decided joining my effort with theirs and we release it together under LDR Import in some of their next releases...well in case they really decide they want any of my improvements P.S.: ...but yea, I can still release it independently anyway cos no one knows when and if this will be added to their code, actually we are discussing it from yesterday -
Actually, if I can tell from my personal point of view, when any kids come to see my big LEGO space complex always, or most of the time Blacktron #6987 base got probably the most of their "Wow!", really And yea, pity that it did not survive for a longer time...

Hey ppl, just a quick render to show...probably ...the final results of my Blender addon (but it looks like I will not release it cos it seems it may become part of the official LDR Importer further improving its capabilities, tradaaaaaa ) -
I see no error this time BUT the blue trans color of the window panes are somewhat too clear or better said "light', when I look at the real stuff here in my collection the color is more darker...except that it looks super as always

Review Review: 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
___ replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yea, it is really a pity that TLG stopped printing their sets B-plans on the boxes as they used to in old times (80's - mid 90's): I remember myself having so much time and thrill trying to build all those alternate models from those box pictures...ah- 228 replies
