  1. Ey Altaaaa, weisst du was... it's been a while, but this beauty has now been blogged over at Classic-Town.net. Once again, cheers for the great build Legostein - whenever I think microscale, I think of this great MOC of yours!!!
  2. Hey Etzel, have you noticed that this wonderful MOC of yours has been blogged over at Classic-Town.net? Kudos mate!!!
  3. I'm well aware of that fact mate - what's more, the UK prices for the modulars were different. The original price of the CC for example was ~90 GBP, whereas GG and the Fire Brigade are both priced at 100 GBP. An increase of another 5 to 10 GBP I could probably live with (as long as it's well-founded, of course), but 140 GBP is just too much. My 2 cents ;) I guess we'll just have to wait for another couple of weeks and see for ourselves how much the real thing will actually cost.
  4. Mr Gale, for some unknown reason, your trenchcoat seems to have "Classic-Town" embossed on it, same as Rick Aellot's... Would you please care to enlighten me why that name sounds so familiar
  5. Allow me to disagree here... I do hope the "regular" price once it's officialy out is the same as thаt of CC, GG and the likes. 140 GBP is definitely way too overpriced for me, considering the fact that it's 40+% more than the other modulars! That said, thanks for the hands-on review, Richard!
  6. Small ships really deserve to get more attention - after all, the seas were not only full of frigates and galleons back in those days :) I really enjoy seeing Sloops, Junks and the likes - and this is probably one of the best little ships I have seen.
  7. Awesome mate! Great job on the forced perspective! Have you considered turning one of those boats into a tartana? I think the scene would look more diverse that way - but even as it is right now, it's still very cool... Btw, is there any backstory to this (despite the fact it says more than words :P)?
  8. Yup, fixed the link As to the blog - you should be thanking Fangy, he's the Reviews blog master I was merely playing the messenger :) In any case, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more of your great reviews!
  9. Hey neighbour - great review mate! Have you noticed you've been blogged on Classic-Town.net? WhiteFang couldn't miss this awesome review for the world!!
  10. Monsieur Aellot, my duties have brought me to the 42nd Regiment where I have been called upon to serve as a just and loyal Court Marshal. I am sure that by now you should be used to seeing moi in golden epaulets, bearing in mind my faithful service to the Republic.
  11. Mason Dalese reporting. Proud to serve in the 42nd Regiment. Hmmm, don't I know you from someplace? Monsiuer Shadón, order please! Leave monsieur Reutal alone... for the time being.
  12. I'm from Bulgaria. Luckily, us Bulgarians don't have to fill out forms and pray that the authorities let us through every single time we want to leave our country anymore I've been to the States and am planning on coming over again soon. I've lived in Germany for ~4 years. I've travelled to Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria. I've only been "through" Holland, Slovenia and Poland on my way to other destinations, which is a shame, I know... One of these days I'm definitely going to make a Tour of Europe... Now that will be an interesting thing for my passport :) P.S.: Ah, yes, I forgot... Been to Portugal as well. The UEFA Euro Cup 2004. Very nice country :)
  13. Bout time too!!! Oi BlueBard, just don't start looking down your nose now that you've been blogged everywhere, ya hear! Otherwise I'll send you upstairs to Al's so that you can have a good lil chat with those Italian goons...
  14. Funny how even though these topics have been discussed at length here, there's always something new and valuable to add. It's very nice to notice that - and it's also one of the reasons why I love such discussions here @ EB :) First of all, welcome Thrawnseg! And best of luck with your Modulars - believe me, once you get a hold of the first one, it'll definitely change the way you look at LEGO. On to your question - I personally fully agree with Ralph and Rich here, although it is really a matter of personal choice. I myself would prefer a display made out of Modular buildings - even if they are not all as big or ornate as the original sets - to a Classic Town set. Such a modular town/display however might not look very "LEGO-like" to some other AFOLs, which is why there's always room for experimenting. At the end of the day, even if for some reason you decide not to display your Modular building(s), you can still build at least a couple of absolutely wonderful Classic buildings out of one modular set. So I really don't understand why there are people who say they "don't like" the modular sets in general and wouldn't buy them - these are some of the best sets in terms of value for money we've ever gotten from TLG.
  15. I think it's safe to say we won't be waving farewell to the Flagship anytime soon... Sometime in the beginning 2011 would be my guess as to when it's going to be cancelled, but it's always good to have information on such things in advance so that one could plan for these last-minute purchases!
  16. Unfortunately, I have not seen too many different trains in my lifetime, especially when it comes to steam engines. The Bulgarian railways operate diesel engines most of the time and I didn't find the locs used by the Deutsche Bahn too inspiring (bar the ICE, of course). So I guess I wouldn't say I'm geographically influenced when thinking about a model to build. I'm saying "thinking" here, because I haven't really built an actual real-life train model yet. I am planning to do that though - and I've drawn lots of inspiration from random stuff that has impressed me, such as the Railroad Tycoon series for example, or movies, etc... That said, there's also a Bulgarian company producing nice little shunters and I'd like to build one of those sometime later on, when I have enough space to set up my own train station. So I guess there is a tad bit of geographic influence and national attachment in me, after all.
  17. What a great loc!!! I absolutely love this - the photo with it at the station is just marvellous... I headed straight on to Classic-Town to blog this, but I found out Shadows had already pipped me to that ... deservedly so (it's been a slow day for me :P) The original engine itself is also a joy to behold - and that's why your model turned out so great! Thanks for introducing this great locomotive to us :]
  18. You gas station master you I still remember that first one you ordered off S@H - you know too well how much I liked it, but this one has so much more atmosphere to it! It just oozes Classic Town!
  19. That, and Sandy's words, reflect how I feel. There are, however, people who just tend to see "order" as something completely different and can't bring themselves to dismantle a set, let alone use the minifigs from it for something different. While I don't see it as anything logical, I understand that on a certain emotional/ psychological level that's the way the certain person perceives their surroundings. So - on to your problem, The Eye - you're not "being purist", you're just being o-c, as you said yourself, and you're having trouble letting go - which would be harmless if it's only applied to LEGO in your life, but in other areas it might be detrimental. My advice: leave those bricks alone and go mountain hiking, it could do you a world of good
  20. Didn't know you were into coat discrimation mate! @Ivan: Great job once again! I can honestly say I envy that collection, since despite my big love for the Pirates I never got the Eldorado beauty :/ Good thing you did those finishing touches - it looks even better this way!
  21. My uncle over in the USA lives in Wisconsin where they don't have to wear any protection whatsoever... he rides his Gold Wing dressed in shorts and trainers, but that's what he enjoys the most, so who am I to tell him he needs a helmet and full-body protection. Over here in Bulgaria helmets are mandatory, but 70% of the shops sell utter crap and 70% of the riders wear that crap. The things that are _not_ crap are overpriced - for example, I personally have set my sights on a Shark RSI or RSX and its price in Bulgaria directly from Shark's local distributor is almost 20% higher than the regular one. On a totally unrelated note, I might be getting a car before I buy a bike... Still debating in my mind whether that's not some kind of betrayal, but at the end the car is much more practical
  22. Veeery nice MOC mate! The truck looks awesome and very realistic, I like how you've made it "grow" from the original version. Looking forward to seeing more MOCs from you - this one has definitely been inspiring, great job
  23. This is such a wonderful MOC Etzel! Wild West definitely seems to be "in" Wish I had that many brown logs :/
  24. Perfect, in that case I guess you'll have no problem passing your mafia skills on to this here lubber... Good luck defending the honour of C-T to both of you In the meantime, I guess it's left to a handful of men to protect the shores of our homeland while you're away killing pirates
  25. Nice mod! And it does look a lot like the real thing too :) My only suggestion would be to replace the front bumper with something a bit less imposing - juts check out the real thing for inspiration!
