Imperial Soldier's Mafia - Sign Up
MetroiD replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Arrr! I'd sign up, even though in reality there's a swashbuckling pirate underneath this green suit, not an Imperial soldier... BUT since I haven't played any Mafia games before, I guess I'll just watch the fun from the safety of my observation deck :) -
This is bound to be fun! Can't wait until Chris Phipson sees this perfect opportunity for some dialogue-based mischief Btw, news of this funny little even you've organised has already reached the Classic-Town frontpage, Brickster mate :] Let's see just how many witty dialogues we'll get!

Ah! Finally! I was sure you'd end up modding that loc, and obviously it all paid off. What a wonderful MOC! Could we please please have a pic of the train with the Hopper attached to?

I enjoy studs, but I also feel that a studless design goes a long way towards refining the look of certain things. That said, I wouldn't go out of my way just to "tile up" a certain portion of a MOC - not to mention I don't own anywhere near enough tiles anyway. So I'd probably go for 60% tiles and 40% studs if I were building a MOC that could use both. And while the "smooth" look can be achieved by using tiles OR using SNOT techniques, I must agree with Ralph_S here - things do tend to get confused way too often. In fact, I believe the major part of smoothening up is done via SNOTting, not tiling - for example, someone mentioned roads & water - those are prime examples for that (not ALWAYS, but pretty often). At the end of the day, there's plenty of room for both in the LEGO world and as long as a MOC is creative & good, it doesn't really matter whether it's tiled or not, SNOTty or simple "bricks up" build.

MOC: Airbus A380
MetroiD replied to reload's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am speechless - this is truly a stunning model that was rightfully crowned as Best of the show! All I could do was blog this... and I sure did so, your beautiful Airbus A380 looks just lovely on the frontpage of Classic-Town.net! -
Well yeah, but in reality it's still six wide because of the mudguards Nice simple vehicle though, regardless whether it's seen as an X3 or a Mazda 3 :)
-
Way more expensive than the actual engine, in most cases!! Which brings me to a question - has anyone tried picking out the specific bricks they need in order to construct one (or both) of the Santa Fe coaches and ordering them from Bricklink?
-
Yep, I've noticed the exact same thing. I had set my mind on buying a couple of these TTX wagons a few months ago, but most of them would end up costing ridiculous amounts so I highly doubt I'd ever be getting them. If I were you, I'd look around the Train Tech forum for some inspiration and then create a few MOCs to use as wagons for the GP-13 :)

What a great MOC indeed Henri! It's well furnished and has a beautiful exterior as well. Why don't you start a new thread and post some more pictures and info about this wonderful modular building?

Yay! And once again, YAY! You have no idea how much time I've spent marvelling at "The Journey Inward". *drools* Glad to welcome you to EB and I hope you enjoy your stay here :)

Wow, you guys sure are quick when it comes to migrating Welcome to EB, Dave! Another familiar face from MOCpages - great to have you on board :)

I know I promised not to start ranting in this thread again, but I just couldn't resist... peterab - ! This might sound harsh, but I know from personal experience just how true it is. In my desperate attempts to get the Bulgarian LUG going, I've seen other (weird-minded) AFOLs act like children and I must admit I was very disappointed, but not surprised. I have, however, also been called a "moran" (yes, not that same word - its equivalent in Bulgarian, but still fascinatingly misspelled) and an "idiot" online by 12-year olds who'd flooded the forum with "ZOMG LOOK AT MAI KOOL NEW ZOMBALIPTIC MOOOOC", just for asking them to write properly and use punctuation every once in a while. As you could have expected, it was a disappointing experience, but also hardly surprising. That, however, doesn't mean I'm trying to put all 12-year olds in the same box. As peterab said, if we were to have an 18+ rule, we would lose a lot of funny and nice members, and quite a few talented builders. So as long as there's peace and order and this place is enjoyable for its members, I guess everything's in order. Once again - sorry for the rant...

Wow, a Tucker fan has joined the forum just because of this MOC :) Absolutely great! Welcome, Tuckerfan, and thanks for the info! I honestly had no idea there were any Tucker replicas in production, that's really good to know :) P.S.: Just out of curiousity, any idea how much a replica Tucker would set you back?

Hide the women and children... and small woodland animals!
MetroiD replied to Chris Phipson's topic in Hello! My name is...
Once again - welcome to Eurobricks, Chris!!! Great to have you around, your presence will surely make this place even MORE fun :) On a different note, as a regular visitor of MOCpages back about a year ago, I'm well aware of your MOCcing prowess. I would however like you to know that it was your awsum Halo page & suicidal Clone Wars comic stories that made me abandon MOCpages. Altogether. And I'm currently considering quitting all MOCcing as well. Can't stand the fear of waking up one day and feeling the urge to do a Halo wrthoggg, zomg!11 ...says Counting Count Eis-coolah! -
More than up to it - and thanks for the support I might take a few pictures of the parts I'm more or less happy with so far and send you a PM later on, for your expert advice! :) By the way, I first saw the Tucker in an ad in the newspaper back when I was 8 (used to go through a lot of the American daily papers when I was a kiddo - my uncle would post the Comics sheets across the ocean in a letter every other week :) ). I loved that car straight away and I only got back to checking on its history when I thought about making a Tucker MOC. It's a crying shame it couldn't be produced for at least a decent amount of time, but what amazes me the most is that there are absolutely no Tucker replicas nowadays. On the other hand, I guess it's normal considering the state of the automobile sector in the US I do hope we'll see the Tucker reborn someday soon though! Once again - thanks for sharing this with us :) Make sure you check out Classic-Town.net later on tomorrow, your Tucked definitely deserves a blog!

This is awesome, biker bro I like the addition of that extra layer, it works wonders for the atmosphere of this MOC! The architectural style is also spot on for a building of this kind... All in all, a great build :) Can't wait to get started on our MOCs for the community build! This is definitely inspiring
-
Ah, so true! If Number 4 can somehow be avoided though, you might say you have a perfect find on your hands! That aside - welcome to Eurobricks, Chris!!! Delighted to see your here, hope I'll see many more of your great MOCs posted here :] Cheers!

All we need now is a stop-motion video of Erdy & SlyOwl fighting over the MOC Expert title Seriously though, congratulations to all three of you! What a great conclusion to the awesome contest that PTV2 has been...
-
Wow, totally unbelievable! I've been playing around these last few days trying to come up with a nice 5-wide Torpedo! Seeing this one is definitely a HUGE inspiration for me to get back to that project and complete it... Needless to say, I love the original car and I think your proportions are spot on! Design-wise your ideas have worked more than well and I love how you've combined the obvious necessities (cheese graters at the front - I've used them too ;) ) with great subtle inner slopes & detailing! This is definitely one of the best models I've seen lately, keep up the good work! As to the custom parts - the Tucker is such a hard design to recreate in LEGO that I think that was more than necessary. Besides, it has worked rather well!
-
Absolutely brilliant MOC... and all those techniques you've used for the details are simply wonderful! P.S.: Make sure you stop by and check out Classic-Town.net's frontpage tomorrow morning!

TLG have already "sort of" commented on that, and it's also quite obvious, isn't it? As long as the Exclusives are proving popular and selling well, there will be more of those. The Winter Toy Store and Imperial Flagship sets are sufficient proof of that, if you ask me... Besides, it's only natural that the plug on the Eiffel Tower and the VW Beetle is eventually pulled - they've both had lengthy runs (especially the Tower!) and neither was meant to be a bestseller in the first place. Doc wasn't acting mean, but he's right, just because Mr. Berard is taking the time to respond to our queries, doesn't mean we should flood him with all kinds of (useless) questions
