It's cool you like my mini ISD (not that mini, actually). But for a Planet set, it is way too big. Too much parts. Do not forget that a Planet model has more or less 60 parts (black support included). And many of these 60 parts are small parts.

In fact, this kind of build is not really among my standards. Because it is not locked. It would moreover add an angle (and a slot ; not sure it looks that good) on the roof. Not easy to deal with that given that the roof has to be stable and removable. edit : btw, if I use the lego parts tolerances, I can tilt the head :

Woooo... LDD screen please. Or anything that is more precise. Don't get what you mean. Sorry.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Anio replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's on the way §§§ It is just a matter of time. Mouhahahaha. (Thank you Blakbird for the renders ) -
You definitely have a big problem in the shape of the wing. But that's easy to solve. More important : where is the structure that will support the whole model ? Doing the wings, the engines, greebs, and the tower is a detail. It takes time, sure, but it is a detail regarding a design process. You can built the best wings, the best tower and the best engines ever, if you do not have a structure to link and support all the parts, everything you did is just a waste of time. Cause you can not complete the model. Focus on the structure.

Nope, I won't. Doesn't look good. Thanks for the idea, though. edit : it doesn't look any better if I put a 2x4 tile with cheesy slopes all around.

Hi, In trans-red, 1x1 and 1x2 are available. So, technically, yes, I can do that. Cause the window of an AT-AT is indeed supposed to be trans red. But when you actually look at the window of an AT-AT (on the pics on the Internet, but also in the movie), the window is not THAT red. It is pretty dark. Dark gray. Even black sometimes. So, I think I will let it DBG. Moreover, the brackets I use are DBG (only color available). So, it make sense to do the window DBG. If I make it trans-red, it would actually appear trans-red (plate) and DBG (bracket, 1/2 plate). :s

Yes. We can also see how TLG try to break into the US market with Technic : 9395, 9397 and 9398, mainly. Technic is also popular in Poland and France. -
The base of the front panel is actually the same. So it's fine. :)

Here : The shape is a little better now. And uses less parts. :p I need to buy one part (slope 2 x 4 double) And I will have to redo the sticker once again... edit : and new cockpit window :
-
Thanks for the link. :) But actually, what I need is not pics of an AT-AT, but rather a new wing (2x6, it's been a while I want that part... ) I will do that. The cones may indeed look too big/cartoony. edit : I have an idea to improve the shape of the head. I will see how I can do that... I keep you informed.
-
True. The shape of the head is not correct. But I do not know how to improve it. There is no Lego wing 6 studs tall with the right angle. The head was also pretty hard to design given that the : - the shape (whatever is it not very accurate) is not in the system - 3 minifigs have to seat in - it must be hinged - the roof has to be removable. As for the guns, depends on what pic do you use.

Sorry, I never wrote what you do is crap. So yes, it seems you take criticism so much better than I do. +_+ haha Just show me how you built your hinged legs, your chassis and the neck. Show me how it is engineered inside please. edit : Are you sure Anio did Sebulba's Podracer ? I really can't find any credit there : It may be your MOC.

Pinky glasses pinky glasses on skills.

Ouch. Dats not a strength. :/
-
I'm listening to you, the AFOL who made 5,000 part (!) AT-AT.
-
Go ahead, dazzle me. I redid the sticker, btw :
-
Hi, You should first focus on the structure instead of building the fuselage.
-
As I said, the model is carefully engineered and the legs are fully hinged. So, no problem. Voilà :

With the nitpicking I regularly get about my MOCs, be sure I know that. Sorry if you are disappointed by the model. Yes, it is nearly twice smaller than most of the other UCS AT-AT you will see on the Internet. However, a masterpiece NEVER depend on the size. It is just too easy to make something big and then say "it is a masterpiece because it is big". You may think it is not a masterpiece, fine. But definitely, it is cleverly built and nicely engineered. Which is so much harder than just making something big. Example : I made the neck with 5 parts. Just five parts. All the UCS AT-AT I see on the net use dozens of parts to do the same neck (and often not that well executed, btw) All I want to say is "dafuq ??" But most people don't get that aspect. Mainly because, and sorry to say that, they are noob regarding the design process of a model. :/ You also just have to read what some people say regarding the official models to understand they are noob. Example with Tehcnic, a theme I know very well : "I deeply regret that 8261 has no fake engine and that 9396 has no collective pitch". I do not have anything against noobs. You need all kind to make a world. But being taught by them when at the same time they understand less than a fifth of a design process, it is kind of curious. Members may believe what they want. The thing is that there is no room for significant improvements.
-
Great answer ! +_+ If you read my other threads, you will probably see that I am among the MOCers who appreciate to give details about the building process, explain the approach, the design choices, etc. Because presenting a MOC is not only posting 2 photos or a link to a gallery. I'm always glad to give explanations etc. However, I'm not here to waste my time with someone who just don't want to understand anything. :/
-
I guess I could. But I won't. 2) The grey pins are friction-less, and so, make the thing less stable. 1) I try to respect the official Lego color scheme (blue, in this case). Apparently you do not understand the concept of "compromise". Too bad. It is so important when creating a model... When you feel the model, when you get the overall spirit of it, when you have a good Lego-y understanding of it, you understand what is the concept/idea of compromise. The only thing you seem to take into account is accuracy. Sorry, but taking only accuracy into account is IMO an huge mistake. May I add that taking only accuracy into account make MOCing almost too easy. :/ There are so many other parameters that deserve to be considered.
-
You are right. I did not includ that detail. But have an overall look at the neck. Actually, what is an AT-AT neck ? In the right order, it have to be : - first a round tube - then, with grooves outside, on the whole length - then, eventually, the detail you are talking about. So yes, I had to do compromise regarding that detail. And I really think that it is the good compromise. Because, overall, the neck look so much better than a brick built neck. And I may add that my neck is made out of... 5 parts ! And it is not fragile. ;)
-
I guess we do not have the same definition of "good looking". I think the #2903 wheel greatly reproduce the grooves we can see on the real model. Actually, so much better than any brick built neck. Drats ! I Forgot the trololol ! haha

Cuusoo doesn't deserve to have my models. You are welcome to show me an UCS AT-AT with better looking legs and neck. Good luck !
