  1. EDIT : Professional building instruction available here : You can email me at setechnic@gmail.com /EDIT Here is my UCS AT-AT ! UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr It is a 2,700 part model. It is hinged everywhere : ankles, knees, hips, neck. And it has an interior in the body and in the head, at minifig scale. UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr It comes with a little Snowspeeder to add some fun. :) UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AT-AT by Anio, sur Flickr The build is VERY modular : Some pics on my flickR : And on my Brickshelf : http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=501880 And the video : Professionnal instruction will be done. One day... Thanks for reading.
  2. EB's Frontpage : "EDIT 72 : ..." Seriously, this frontpage is a joke. -_-"
  3. I agree with more or less everything that has been said here, except on this : A gearbox like the one of 8070 (and models which have a similar gearbox) makes the model generally more complex than a standard gearbox. Cause on 8070 (for example), you have 1 input, and 4 output that go everywhere in the model. On a standard gearbox (8880), you have 1 input and 1 output on the engine. Moreover, the models which are the most expensive to produce are also those which are sold at the higher price (captain obvious). I'm pretty sure that it's these models that make a lot of profit.
  4. Model 6) : 7 points. 4 points I really appreciate the way the model is built. It is simple, and it works very well. But what I appreciate is really that it is cleverly built.
  5. Nice and cute build. :) The podracers are way too big, though (compared to the building). They should be at least 5 times smaller. Or the buidlding should be 5 times bigger. :p
  6. i did that a couple of weeks ago : Contrary to most of the Snowspeeder of that size you can see on the Internet, it is strong.
  7. I like UCS for what they are : detailed, accurate, and well designed models. However, I really do not care of the value of my collection as I will never sell it. And to be honnest, I would really lough if for any reason, the value of the UCS collapse ! But a big decrease in their value would prevent some seller from speculating and selling Lego collector sets at very very high prices. I would really enjoy such a situation. Mocking the speculators I something fun to me. :p As for 7191, it is IMO among the best UCS models (great features, good shapes, awesome colors ; some red parts could just be turned into dark red parts, ok). It is very well designed. You will convince me that this model now suck when someone will do a better X-Wing that 7191. Till today, nobody succeed to do better.
  8. I know and have met several Technic MOCers. Generally, we met thanks to meetings. That kind of meeting is really cool. It generally lasts 2 days (sometimes, 3 days). We are about 6-8 AFOLs. We have a lot of stuff, and a lot of fun, during about 14 hours each of the 2 days. :p
  9. Hi, I have a WIP. It is nearly finished. But some parts are still missing. And presenting something that is not 100% complete is definitely something that I can not do. :/ I'm very sorry. I will present that MOC one day on EB. I'm sure of it. But I'm also sure that I won't be able to do that before the deadline. :s
  10. The email adress is supposed to appear in a new window. setechnic [at] gmail [dot] com
  11. IMO, by asking what to do to get an awesome result, you have the wrong attitude. You should choose a scene or a vehicle you like. And then, you will have to think how to make the model awesome.
  12. I am very happy you like my model. It is a great pleasure for me to see that this model is appreciate and reproduced by the community. And don't forget : I designed the model, but if you reproduced it, it is thanks to Frousmoul. ;) Thanks for the pics. :)
  13. And so the gearbox is pointless, and so the model isn't that well designed.
  14. Really a great set... It will be very hard not to buy it.
  15. Sorry to post that, but each time I read the tittle of this thread, a video comes to my mind. I know it's wrong, but I have to post it. "What is physics ?"
  16. Universal kits enables to build many models. Generally, these models are very different. In the same box, you can have a plane, a car, or a truck, etc. Obviously, today TLG prefer to sell 3 different kits than only 1 kit. That's very understandable. Moreover, the parts (ref number) in a model makes the B-model trickier to design today IMO. In the past, we had studful technic bricks, axles, gear, plates, and that's all. All the models used more or less the same parts. Today, there are more details on the sets. There are more parts. So it's harder to design a B-model whose inventory match nearly perfectly with the A-model. Then, even harder to design a C-model, etc.
  17. The buit of this engine is interesting. Nevertheless, it is not very Technic. Moreover, I doubt TLG will release something like that. Not everyone cares about something like that. I'm not sure that displaying an engine is what people want, even among the Technic fans... 2Legoornot2Lego's model could be official models. They are well built and very interesting display models. As for the other models you has shown, I doubt that kind of stuff will ever make it as an official sets. Some have suspensions... Suspensions wouldn't increase the value of such a product but only the price. They work fine also because they have basically one motor per function. Lego can't afford that on so big models. Studfull increase way too much the part number. If Lego want to produce a great tow truck with many details and features, they can take 8285, add 700 parts, and they are done. You see, it's far from a 4,000-5,000 part set.
  18. I doubt we will ever see a 4,000-5,0000 part set. Just look at 8258. Even with a XL, some mechanisms experience difficulties because of all the gears. For an official set, I think that a 2500 part set is the limit. Indeed, an official set has to match strong requirements regarding the building and playing experience. 8258 reached more or less this limit IMO.
  19. Some models really use the studless very well (8043, 8258, 8265, and even some models smaller) On the contrary, the way the chassis of the Unimog is built is a nightmare... T_T Someone said that the shorter time to develop each model had an impact on the final products. I do agree with that.
  20. Indeed. http://www.setechnic.com/Forum/topic3138.html
  21. The goals on a 200€ model and a more or less 50€ model are definitely not the same. ;) It's like comparing 8275 and 8569. :/
