  1. Don't mind me, I'll just sit here watching the expectations climb higher and higher until eventually it settles around an "EARLY RELEASE DATE TOMORROW" kinda thing.
  2. Five bucks says it'll be the website, which is only a splash page anyway.
  3. It's not impossible, especially if they continued with the mini-scale type sets; it serves a similar niche but with a different appeal. Plus, LEGO generally has another constraction line of some type, even if it's not concurrent. That's a completely preposterous business idea. Hero Factory was designed to be episodic and target a younger demographic because sales for BIONICLE had slumped. Now sales for Hero Factory have (presumably) taken a downward turn because a line only has so much staying power; BIONICLE was an outlier for a lot of reasons, and they're probably looking to recapture some of the same magic that drove it in the first place. Whether or not is pans out for them remains to be seen.
  4. Couldn't quite the cache link to work for me, so I used a roundabout method. Same diff =P.
  5. Is it really pandering? They're not specifically targeting the previous demographic, they're after new kids with a similar experience that older fans happened to receive. Edit: This is too good not to pass up Nothing clickable, but damn it's looking fine.
  6. Still unknown as to whether or not it's a reboot, but I find it highly unlikely that it's a continuation. They have way more to gain by rebooting. If it IS a continuation, I doubt the change in building style would be acknowledged in the story... that was just a fun in-joke for Hero Factory.
  7. Oh, I had missed that, sorry. I was just wishing out loud that they also looked large enough to become an overlay for masks, as opposed to something swappable. But realistically, it's just a mask change (although the fact that we're bringing that kind of concept back is just amazing).
  8. So the spiders totally have the click joints to attach, but they are also rather large... I wouldn't be surprised if they could accommodate a mask and a spider as well. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh No comment? The most common fan abbreviation I saw for the Ignika was MoLi, but people were usually just good about writing out the whole thing (and giving deference to MoL, which was more commonly abbreviated); granted, they also had proper names, which made it easier. Hopefully the MoCr gets an official name.
  9. BIONICLE's websites lasted a good while, but that was also due to fan support, which I doubt HF has enough of to keep the sites afloat. Ah well. There's always the Wayback Machine...
  10. Augh seriously MoC is gonna bug me something awful. MoCr works sooooo much better. (also even with the new connector points I'd love to see axle holes too, to encourage backwards compatibility)
  11. I never owned any of the KK sets, so how do the click visors compare to the IFB beast jaws from this year? This doesn't redirect a coming soon page for you?
  12. We gotta find a better abbreviation than MoC... it's clever, I'll grant you, but also realllllly confusing.
  13. Never went into production (and this was years ago) so the writers have more than likely moved on to other projects. Whatever BIONICLE movie we get (if we get one) would probably be unrelated.
  14. Greg did mention that there would be a lot more attention paid to social media, although it's hard for that to necessarily be an indicator of sales. However, if sales projections jive with their idea of word-of-mouth and enthusiasm, then things should work out pretty well. (I should make a BS01 twitter... ew) Depends; LEGO typically sets the street date as January 1st (for constraction, although that's up for debate this year given Hero Factory's experiment), and assuming that they'll still do that, then Toys R Us occasionally breaks street dates so you could theoretically find them earlier. However, this isn't a constant, and it's not every TRU that does (over the ten-ish years of BIONICLE, my local TRU varied wildly with this). That said, TRU also generally sells sets at a markup, so there's that to consider.
  15. Maybe the Defenders have axle based masks, and it's just this mask that uses pins? (like in 2003) Well, the 2008 design wasn't actually in place until 2007 (the 2006 version had all kinds of crazy appearances) so it wasn't too far away (they probably knew in 2007 when they introduced the mask that it would appear in sets the next year). I imagine they'll introduce this mask somewhere, it seems a shame to have so much detail gone into something that won't actually exist physically.
  16. Arrested Development =P. Whenever the character Gob, who works as a magician, performs, people call what he does "magic tricks"; he tends to correct them, them usually being his brother Michael, by insisting that they are "illusions". There's more of the quote, but it's not quite appropriate for the board. We have noticed! It's very exciting that the masks will likely be this style going forward. It's new and innovative (although I don't know how well it settles the "helmets v. masks" debate).
  17. ILLUSIONS, Michael.
  18. For those thinking prequel, remember that Artakha (who created the Toa Mata) had the mask BEFORE creating them (see BS01's timeline for more info!) so take that into consideration when adapting. I would kind of be okay with it if it hadn't already been established that AU's are essentially meaningless since there's an infinite amount of them (BioShock made it work, surprisingly, but that's a rarity). An epic time-travel story would suit me fine, but they need to emphasize that this universe that we're going into is important, as important as the previous one.
  19. Greg mentioned on the LMB that it's not by definition a continuation; again, a fantastic non-answer, but still... (also he's involved with it to some degree... hopefully just writing the books)
  20. A lot of the Mask of Creation was elaborated upon through Greg answers (and he recently gave a fairly non-answer about what happens if you, say, destroy the Mask of Creation, which contradicts what was said about it before), so it could be rectonned. Granted I never liked most of what was said about the Mask of Creation (I blame my good pal/horrible person Erebus), but it's one of the many reasons why this is hopefully a reboot. Also also BZP mentioned that the NYCC reveal also does actually have to do with BIONICLE, so... few more weeks, neh?
  21. Eh, the actual details of the plot are not (and have never) what made me think this was going to be a reboot. I'm sure there could be some explanation why Artakha isn't wearing the mask, but I'm still sure this is going to be a reboot.
  22. I was hoping it would be something like that, honestly. It's trying to erase the weird relationship between the faces and the masks, which they've been trying to do since 2009. Works for me.
  23. So it IS the Mask of Creation. That would explain a recent squiffy answer from Greg about it on the LMB. So much for King Vultraz. (still gonna be a reboot)
  24. (assuming he's involved at all, or involved in the same capacity)
