Well, it was a hoax (I guess "prank" would be more accurate). Digging Onua's look again (no pun intended), although I'm glad his Skull Spider isn't silver... I'm hoping for a good variety from them.

I'm a pterodactyl, here to ptero-you a new one. Anyway, figures. The game was what tipped me off; if anything, they'd do a 3DS game since that's where the money and licensing deals are.

Not sure if I believe it... but damn that sounds like a continuation. Bad form, LEGO.

Maybe that dagger on Pohatu's back is how the gear function works? Who knows, man...

I like Tahu's mask... Anyway, digging them all, even with the printing. Pohatu is silver, so that's good. Gali's design is the most changed, and I like the mask for sure. Also, SCORPION Skull Spider? Most interesting. LOSS still looks dopey, but dat gold Skull...

Eh... I feel like a general thread would have too much overlap (plus I hate paying attention to multiple topics :U). If it was narrowed down somehow, maybe.

Technically all of the Barraki are different species, since Barraki is a title. Semantics, but if you're going to press the point...

"I disagree. R is among the most menacing of sounds. That's why they call it 'murder', and not 'mukduk'." - Dwight Schrute No but seriously BIONICLE uses a lot of K's, so it's really unsurprising.

Hey, if they do have different colored eyestalks, then we can mix and match 'em. There were some eye colors I thought were kinda meh, but Onua's green always worked for me.

Psh, Tahu is the OG lavasurfer. He didn't need no fancy blades, he did it on a ROCK.

A BIONICLE artbook would be absolutely tops. The series is just rich in varied types of artistic expression, but LEGO is always a bit hesitant about releasing it (in high quality and unwatermarked forms, anyway).

Oooh, concept work of the MoCr. Neat! (and a HQ version without the electricity effects! Praise LEGO!)

I'm just saying one of the hallmarks of BIONICLE was specialized parts; how you use those parts aside from their intended application is up to your own creative skills. These masks (assuming a theory like Lyi's, perhaps, but regardless) are neither the most versatile or the least versatile of parts we've seen, so I like to think that it's ultimately what you make of it. A mask system with longevity, really, is all I ask for, like 2004 onward (replaced by the not-quite-as-handy-but-still-reusable Iron Man faces system).

That's assuming it does actually shift up or down; I think what Lyichir is describing is more of a steady attachment, but one that can be removed with enough pressure as opposed to being fixed. Anyway, assuming Lyi IS right, this can be used with anything that has opposing axle connections, which is not only a lot of things (and I'm sure there's plenty I can't think of but that better MoCists can!), but more versatile than, say, Hero Factory helmets which basically required the head joint.

What were your First and Last BIONICLE G1 Sets?
Dorek replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
First was Gali and Vakama (immediately followed by a "MUST HAVE MORE" purchase of Tahu). Last was Rahkshi from 2010 (although I think I might have gotten an older set like Kohrak Kal after that). -
I think it's more likely to make a difference to people who grew up with BIONICLE, rather than new buyers (or perhaps people who only got into it in 2009/10). We're now conditioned to expect a certain standard from the story, which will in turn affect how we perceive the sets. The brand new target audience is going to be more reminiscent of how our generation was back in 2001; they don't have much to go on, so it will seem remarkably different to them. I don't think story is necessarily a requirement for enjoyment of the toys, but something that has been a constant in constraction lines is personality. Going all the way back to Slizers, even with that bare-bones plot, the environment and the atmosphere exuded a certain sense of flavor. It may not be to everybody's liking, but I have yet to see a constraction line that didn't have its own identity (Superheroes comes the closest, perhaps because it was a licensed theme, but regardless). And sure, comics/books/etc sold me on the PLOT of BIONICLE, but that was the steak. The presentation is the sizzle. Personally, I think all of the sets look absolutely fantastic (even Skull Krata and his dopey face), so I'm definitely going to try and get them all.

I'm a collector by nature, but I'm pretty bad at it. The plan is for all of them, certainly, but we'll see if the budget allows for it.

Yeah, this is probably related to the Friday reveal. That won't be huge. NYCC, on the other hand, will be cooool.

And even then, they were pointedly about breaking the complexity into identifiable constructions; building Skopio's legs FOUR TIMES still haunts me to this day. I'd certainly like to see something more like Axalara, but given the size of CCBS sets in general (the higher end Toa, anyway) they'd probably end up more like Jet Rocka.

If anything, it looks like BIONICLE will make even MORE complex use of CCBS than Chima. I found the Chima Ultrabuilds to be really good at using aesthetics, although they're a bit functionally unwieldy. Hero Factory showed a great balance of form and function, and especially in 2012 and 2013 it really put on display the different kinds of things you can do. 2014 as well, but with the focus geared toward machines. Since BIONICLE looks to be introducing gear functions of some kind (or something even stranger), at the very least the Master sets will be a step up from anything we've seen.

I think it was alluded to in the LMB topic, but yeah, sounds like he's basically serving the same role as Greg: creative consultant. Hopefully he'll do some of the concept art, at least.

Y'all see Faber's cool Turaga art? (that BZP hilariously leapt on as canon)
