Yes! Or you can go in stores. I'll probably be making an in-store purchase to avoid those silly S&H fees, but I never like going on day 1 because I'm always worried they'll have forgotten to start the promotion and I'll have to go back in again, which is a pain in the butt.

>unexplained statue in the Get The Mask comics "humans in bionicle? rabblerabblerabble" >unexplained statue in the online animations "Vorox rehashes in bionicle? yaaaaay" No but seriously I'm willing to bet it's just something stylized, there for fun. Or maybe it's what one of the Skull peoples used to look like before, y'know, dying? Likely we'll have to draw our own conclusions, if there are any to be drawn. Although my headcanon is now Skull Warrior's original form.

I can't say anything that Deevs hasn't already said. Everything mentioned, done, etc. says "reboot". It's only weird usage of the term "soft reboot" in 2009 (that Greg tried to distance himself from anyway because he knows what reboot means) that's giving fans hangups. Maybe it had to do with the way the story ended, maybe it's the weird obsession with canonization that existed before that, I dunno. It's fine (fun, even!) to discuss ways the universes could or should be connected, but saying that all these poorly interpreted phrases and terms are "evidence" and that the universes "will" be connected is getting pretty old. It's trying really hard to be its own thing, and I feel bad that people won't let it. That's "Skull Bats" to you, sir.

Most of it has to do with some misinterpreted comments from NYCC; they called the Vahi "half a mask", referring to its physical shape, so people (desperate for there to be a connection) took that to mean from a story perspective, it was only half a mask, and the other "half", or completed version or whatever, would appear in the new stuff and be the story engine for connecting the generations. As it stands, Time itself is a recurring theme/story point. There's the Temple of Time, where the Protectors used the Mask of Time (confirmed in two sources) to summon the Toa "from Time". That's why they include the Vahi; it makes a nice Easter Egg for fans, and is thematically appropriate. There is no real "conclusion" to draw from the Vahi Easter Eggs; the use of Time as a plot point in the new story is the only thing they're referencing. They might leave it "open ended", whatever that means because there's nothing concrete to actually suggest it's open-ended anyway, but the Vahi appearing doesn't have anything to do with that.

There's a Vahi everywhere =P. Interestingly enough, that particular scene briefly appears in the "Masks of Power" trailer, and the Vahi ISN'T there.

Personally, I like single environments; it provides a lot more focus, and as evidenced by the shorts, not a lot of time is going to be spent in every environment, so it makes it a bit of a waste to include it at all. With a single environment, it feels much more exploratory.

While I don't know why it would have to be a sea creature of any kind, I would support it wholeheartedly. Love me some CCBS water monsters.

It's probably some transparent Mask of Fire. But I'm willing to be surprised. Heck, maybe it ends up being a Mask of Creation.

Because they don't have an unlimited budget and the amount of revenue it would hypothetically bring in is unlikely to outweigh the costs of a game you have in mind, assuming it's not a total flop at all (which I'm sure is something their past research shows, since we never got a console game past 2006). Big production values don't guarantee success. The cross section of people you mention is likely to be very small as it is anyway. TT games work because it's cheap for them to produce (because they have the same game engine) and because minifigs are widely recognized. They also happen to be good, or at least, they were initially, so it benefited from word-of-mouth. They've since iterated upon that formula rather than evolving it, but one can say the same thing about, say, Assassin's Creed or Halo games. A decent selling BIONICLE video game in this current climate is a stretch, which is why they stick to mobile games. Not to say it can't be done, but personally I think they would need to go a little outside the box; they've tried a lot of genres that don't really stick (tower defense, 2d platforming, action/shooter) so something different might be the key.

Old Bionicle sets: To open or not to open
Dorek replied to Aethersprite's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The only sets in 2007 to have joint crack problems were the lime ones, due to a new type of material they used. When they redesigned the joints in 2008, people started experiencing more cracking problems (which I think was vastly overrated anyway). So Jaller Mahri should be a-ok, and is a fantastic set to boot; 2007 was a great year. -
The Skull villains all have bright colors, so... seems pretty elementally colored to me. Black and red have always been the stereotypical "evil" colors, but one could argue that the summer wave has nothing but bright primary colors, certainly moreso than some we've seen in Gen 1.

Ordinarily I'd say they were supposed to be just generic skull faces, but the teaser at the end of the magazine insert certainly makes it look more "mask-ish", so I think it's probable that we'll get some kind of power for them.

Haha, I actually voted Ice, which is not something I usually do. But c'mon, the Mask of Fire is pretty cool looking =P.

Small Club featurette on the Golden Masks. Nothing new, but some cool new pics, and reconfirmation of both Makuta AND the Mask of Time, go figure. What did you guys choose?

I wouldn't say odd or badly represented; maybe it doesn't mean the specific instance you have in mind, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. The Skull Spiders and LOSS aren't undead warriors like these guys, but they're still part of the overall "Skull" motif. It's just a design. Maybe the other sets had chains on them at some point and were removed from the final version, or maybe we'll see chains as a pattern in the animations or commercials. Or maybe there's just chains on their chestpieces because it looks cool. And it does look cool.

Doesn't matter have cape.

Some people would call that "innovation over rehashing", which LEGO tries to do.

I... think he was being sarcastic, guys =P

New pieces doesn't automatically mean a lack of effort. I think MoW was talking more about the overall look and construction. I'm really excited about Vader, and not just as a parts pack like Luke will probably be. That said, there's a separate thread for this, so back to bonkles.

Did we get any press descriptions with the set information, or is all we know what's on the placards?
