  1. Apparently it's actually 25 USD, but yeah, this is definitely how I felt about the set. Melum is a great enhancement to Kopaka, but not a solid figure by itself. So it's a bit of a tossup on value
  2. I mean, forget the LOSS comic... did the Protectors and the Toa ever "unite"? That was a purely set kind of feature. I can't imagine the beasts won't actually combine in the story here, though. As for Umarak, yeah, he might put on the MoCo at some point, but we'll see in what capacity. Is he actively hunting for it, like he's hunting the beasts, or does he stumble upon it?
  3. Huh, neat, he's cheaper priced than we thought. I'll have to update my review to reflect that!
  4. There's actually plenty of evidence to claim one way... there's also enough evidence to fuel conspiracy theories, but there's a reason those things are called that. We've been told there's no connection. Also the Nuva symbols in the upcoming sets =P.
  5. Since I apparently did a horrible job of advertising it last year, BS01's review of Kopaka and Melum is up! An icky price point, but a fantastic combo model.
  6. I'm not sure how I feel about it... the cape is cool, but I don't really need another MoCr. But I'll probably pick one or two up just because. Hopefully it comes stateside, so I don't have to import again!
  7. I envy your output ability =P. I got Lewa's review out today, but this holiday season is so busy! I should do a bunch at once, but I don't have too many days off. Yeah, that was one of my cons. It's a good combination by itself, but unbalanced here. I'll have to keep an eye out for it on Kopaka ;)
  8. Yeah that was a close one! A bit of a shame, since opening the box is half the fun, but hey, can't argue with free review copies. Another fun thing about Umarak, the Mask of Control on the comic looks a lot like the prototype version we saw on the box itself a while back, sort of half in between the animation version and the finalized set. Definitely will be getting some out soon! I work weird hours so they'll be individuals, but I'm definitely excited to see 2016 kick into gear for everybody.
  9. I got my box shortly before I had to go to work, so I've been dying. Did they collapse Kopaka's box and have the bags loose in yours too? =P
  10. Hammer, meet nail.
  11. I think part of that is the disparity from the first wave. The Toa of 2015 were rock solid, so now it's more iteration than innovation. The creatures, on the other hand, are markedly different in both form and function, so there's a bigger difference. I'm looking forward to them, though, I normally prefer the larger sets to the smaller ones, but it's been a while since we've gotten a good beast.
  12. I'm using mine, which I got from eBay recently. I like the cardboard stand, I totally think more stuff like that should be included in some sets. Or, as I keep saying, make use of the otherwise terrible cardboard boxes they seem to be sticking with, make it reversible with some scenery or something. I might brick-build something for the MoCr depending on what Umarak comes with (excited to review him soon!). Thanks, Zoidberg. I like the Protector builds better, but seeing this actually makes me miss mask diversity, which I thought I was okay with until now =P.
  13. As much as I like specialized parts, I also love this. That about Ekimu's shield in particular was really creative and interesting to me. But by the same token, new molds that serve multiple purposes are also really fun; Onua's shovelers this year, for instance, are a great example of that; three uses in a single set alone. The upcoming Shadow Traps offer a similar effect. But when almost every Toa has the same bladed weapon just in a different color, it gets to be a bit silly.
  14. Onua does not win snowball fights. Winning implies a certain sportsmanship, a chance for each side to achieve some sort of parity. No, Onua does not win snowball fights. Onua obliterates them.
  15. Sets before Christmas? Maybe they're trying to pre-empt leaks. Or maybe they just mean they'll be rolling out more media than lines typically see, especially since last year we got a looooot of information beforehand. Also, note the complete absence of any Mata Nui icon from the poster...
  16. I still think most of these headsculpts are squarely in uncanny valley territory, and images which are intended to be bullshots don't necessarily inspire too much confidence in me. However, the builds look really fun. I'll definitely try and pick up Kylo Ren at least.
  17. are we on the upswing of popular opinion now Looking good, looking good. I think this is the first solid look we've gotten of Kopaka and Melum apart, and I'm really digging their vibe. Good combo, good individuals, just solid colors and everything across the board.
  18. I mean, when you compare the Mask of Creation to its animation version... the difference there is pretty striking too. The face part is a lot smaller, the layering of the cheeks is different, the brows are a lot more pronounced. The video version was an unrealistic expectation to start with. As long as the final design contains the same level of intricacy as the current MoCr does, I can't complain. Final MoCr and animation version
  19. The finalized version was always going to have more details, though. I have no particularly strong feelings on one design over the other, but all this talk about masks makes me think... Mask of Time in Umarak the Destroyer, maybe? It's been a while since that got a mention, and if the original panel was any indication, we're getting it at some point in the future.
  20. Interesting bit about the runes on the mask, but nothing particularly new aside from that. I always like watching John Ho present, though. He's so quirky and silly.
  21. That is a bummer. Good for people who like that sort of thing in printed form, I guess. Oh well, there's always the graphic novels, which I am super stoked for.
  22. My favorite art so far, for my favorite set so far. Love it. Took me a second to realize he does actually have his Golden Mask; I think the inconsistency would have bothered me otherwise =P.
  23. So, no golden Kulta mask in the December promotions. Most mysterious. Time to order from Bricklink or whatever, then.
  24. I quite like the winners, especially the first place one. Definitely more inventive winners than some of the BFTGM ones (although some of those were really cool too!).
  25. Sweet, third GN. So that's three of each, plus the activity book. None too shabby.
