  1. Wasn't actually making any sort of judgment on what you said, but I guess I can see how you would have thought that. Admittedly I'm not a huge reader of comics, but this is sort of what I come to expect from when anything has a sort of artistic medium; that there will be variations (which are different than inconsistencies, a common misconception) in the way characters will be portrayed between takes. That doesn't necessarily excuse inconsistencies (Korgot looks different because she's missing two armor pieces in her second appearance, so yeah), but at the same time you still recognize the characters, and the slight changes are hardly immersion breaking. Maybe I'm just less nitpicky about those kinds of things, who knows, I'm no artist =P. Some people just prefer the more hyper-realism as opposed to stylism. I generally like a solid blend of both, and this works for that.
  2. The artistic group behind the graphic novels is Caravan Studio, whose website lists LEGO as a client but doesn't give us anything new =P. I personally really like the artstyle; in fact, I think I like it BETTER than the cover implied. The lineart is a lot smoother, and there's no craggy textures that make the Toa seem unnecessarily beaten up and edgy (maybe they'll get there eventually, but you know). It's all very comic book-y in the best way.
  3. The gearxle functions overall have been Bohrok-esque, but I didn't get any particular Bohrok vibes from Terak or Melum. If we see some sort of head snapping motion, though, I'm on board. Although I'm mostly just hoping for some quadrupeds from summer's beasts. Maybe like a BEAR.
  4. Also they were eight pages I omitted one sorry. Back in now. I don't think anything's realistically going to change from now until release, which is only a week away. Possibly some coloring, but the Vahi will likely be permanent. But then, it doesn't bother me so much. It's like the ones we've seen already; an easter egg. Whenever they release the final version, it will be in the new mask style.
  5. Sorry, double post, but this is too good not to share: LEGO has kindly given us a 7 page preview of the upcoming graphic novel! There's a few more images included that I'll get to later (all in glorious hi-res) but the real meat is these pages. I'm loving the artstyle.
  6. Still there for me. Episodes have gone missing in the past before, though, only to reappear, so I'm not worried. I more wonder when the website is gonna update...
  7. Most of my guys hip joints are fine, although I wouldn't say they've gotten any significant stress. My Tahu one was probably the loosest to start with; feels like the friction is only on the sides, and not the front or the back. But so far so good, in general. I imagine they'll get looser over time, and it'll be interesting to see where they are in six months/a year from now.
  8. The wings are super legit, and the the body construction is solid and does a good job at integrating the function. Looks good on Lewa, too. Something about the lack of legs kinda bothers me, but it's a minor quibble. Definitely a good creature for me.
  9. Every time I write a review I want to mention this but have to stop myself from fear of being seen as insane. Because YES IT BOTHERS ME It used to not. Truly. But then I read that exact same question in a review and ever since I have not been able to stop thinking about it.
  10. Got my Onua review up! Doesn't have quite as much character as last year's (which remains one of my all time favorite BIONICLE sets), but is still very solid on its own.
  11. Definitely too much silver, and those weapons are pitiful, but everything else about Lewa is great. Definitely in my top 3.
  12. Yeah, my least favorite of the Uniters. He's not "bad", he just can't do anything exceptionally well. And the lack of dark tan and burnt orange, when those should be his primary colors, is incredibly disappointing.
  13. Got my Ketar review up! Not a fan of this one, although the gear function is neat.
  14. Dark tan, yeah, sorry. I'll be more specific next time =P
  15. Got my Pohatu review up! Be careful what you wish for...
  16. Grey! It was an interesting choice, but I like it better for it. Lewa already had a problem with too much silver.
  17. Ikir is best creature, fo sho. The articulated wings make all the difference, and the talons too. Love having him.
  18. I didn't mind the clashing textures in the end, mostly because his visual aspect is already a complete mess (even with the accents, which are otherwise brilliant). Also the gold Skull armor piece is <3 I'd give him anywhere in between "average" and "above average". Certainly fun to play with, but it's hard to see where they were going with the overall design. Also, glad you combined his blades like that, so people can see what it looks like. I tried, and was just like... "why". It's such a weird thing.
  19. Oh yeah, I got BS01's Tahu and Ikir reviews up! I liked Tahu better than I thought I would. He's crazy, but in a fun way. And Ikir is the best. Haven't gotten to Gali yet, but here's Lewa
  20. I'm pretty sure over the next few days you're going to see all of them ;)
  21. Yeah, Ketar is probably my least favorite of the creatures. Just really awkward and gangly. Them colors, though...
  22. Haha, I was actually going to make note of that. I took the pictures first, and then when I double checked, noticed that they were hanging down. I personally like him with the feet up; makes the creature seem more integrated, and less of an accessory.
  23. LEGO was pretty on-point with the street date this year, so not bad at all. Let the rush begin? Edit: Also, BS01's Uxar review is up. Overall pretty good (better than Melum), although to be honest I'm expecting more from the rest of the creatures. We'll see. Tomorrow's gonna be a two-fer.
  24. Also, don't know if anybody's mentioned this yet (and maybe this would be better for the story topic...?) but the instruction booklets advertise another app, with the Mask of Control on it. Probably another f2p beat em up of some kind, but we'll see. In other news, expect a review soon~
  25. Very interesting bit of trivia, thanks Front!
