LEGO Architecture 2015 News & Discussion
rollermonkey replied to tafkatb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Finished this today, as well, and I agree with a lot of that. The set is 18 studs tall, but the actual building is 21 stories. They could have easily gone 3 studs taller and had a near-perfect 1 floor per stud scale, and that would have really fixed the middle section being too short. The most famous aspect of the building, the pointy end, looks terrible. Because of the 25* angle of the two sides, I'm not sure that it would be possible to do this round end properly in LEGO at any scale, but the method used here isn't it. Sometimes a LEGO Architecture recreation just isn't the right choice of subject, and this is one of those times. That said, it could be a great parts pack if you need LBG plates and angle brackets or trans-smoke tiles or tan grille tiles and 1x2 and 2x2 curved slopes, all are used in large quantity. The build is decent, if a bit repetitive. It's not the worst Architecture set of the line, (I say Trevi takes that crown, closely followed by the totally boring Burj Dubai) but it's miles from the best. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Doesn anyone have any info about the summer wave or TFA wave? Cuz I'd sure love to have a place to talk about them. All this rehashing of set scalping arguments is BO-RING. It's an annoying practice, takes advantage of people, and those who do it will never be convinced that they are in the wrong, so trying is wasted effort. -
[MOC] Minifigure Scale Rebels Phantom with base

Very nice! I can't believe you thought of that with the 16x16 restriction, but good on ya! Now, you need to make a minifig-scale Ghost for this to dock into! -
UCS TIE, micro-ARC-170 (sale), micro-Republic Gunship (sale) and Admiral Yularen. Now I have nothing at all left that I want to buy until Summer wave. Well, I want Death Star, but that isn't going to happen.

Minidoll heads and minifig hats

So, the daughter put a princess hat/hair from a previous CMF onto a Jasmine minidoll head. Surprising to me, they aren't compatible. The head is on straight, yet it is still wedged in place and I cannot separate them. Suggestions? (and I searched the forums but the archives seem to be oddly truncated and nothing useful came up)

Chibi? Take the eye tiles off, and it'd be a spot-on brick-built Bantha, period, full stop.

No sale on the Death Star... Not surprised. -
In the US, there are a few fairgrounds that have permanent rides, augmented with traveling rides for the actual fair. The State Fair of Texas and the Washington State Fair at Puyallup, are two just off the top of my head, so it's not completely out of the ordinary for that sort of mix. I like it, but it really is enormous, isn't it?
-
Jealous! But I think you need to find a Robie House for that collection... and a Marina Bay Sands. :)

Is it just me, or is the rim comprised mostly of mixel joints instead of hinges?

I'm seeing 9 figures? ...and do we not have the calendar this is appearing on available yet? I like the garden around the base, it reminds me of a bunch of ferris wheels that I've seen around the world.

Not sure why the 'has' to be a discounted UCS... but either way, it'll have to be the UCS TIE for me, I have everything else from SW that I want, not counting the Death Star, and even 10% (heck, not even 25%) off on that doesn't get it into my budget. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, but the Ghost was released before we'd seen a single episode... Setting the price at a good value helps sell an unknown vehicle and potentially increase audience for the show. Tyderium appeals to AFOLs because it's from the OT... Which means willing to spend the money. -

Um... Where are the 'New' tags on the new minifigs? Are they usually not on promotional images and I just didn't notice? -
While I do like mine, I'm less concerned with the rear wheels than I am about the incredibly fragile rear wings/flaps. I wish they had come up with a way to have two connection points for each.

If that's true, then new TIEs can shoot rearwards, because in the trailer, that particular fighter is shooting towards the camera. Yeah... I'm pretty sure that's a front in the image I cropped. -
I can't help but think that would be a bad thing if you like her character...

OK, Sentinel, not Lambda. They look a heck of a lot more similar than that new large V-shaped shuttle in the new TFA trailer that people are bemoaning as too similar to older craft. I think of it as a late season set because the ship played a far more crucial role in the finale than it did in the pilot. When we saw the leak that it was being released, everyone was confused because it played such a minimal role in the series up to the point where we knew it was coming. The late-season episodes reinforced that it was worthy of including for release as a Rebels set. As nice as getting figures from the end of the season would be, I think the omission to protect the on-show surprises is/was more important. We can have multiple waves of sets over the next couple years to correct for the omissions, but they only get one chance to bring on surprise characters without leaks or spoilers, and I'm glad we got Tarkin, Vader and Ahsoka as just that: on-air surprises, than to have seen grainy leaked images from summer wave sets that gave away where things were going / who was going to show up. -
I meant nothing about her being used sparingly.

This is the kind of nitpickyness from SW fans that drives me nuts. The Lothal Rebel cell used a Gozanti to try and rescue Kanan in the finale. Pretty sure a kid could/would stretch his imagination that far to reenact that. Tarkin isn't on the cruiser, he arrives by Lambda-Class shuttle, so by your own logic, that wouldn't make sense. Putting Ahsoka in it would have ruined her surprise arrival in the finale, so her not being there is perfectly OK by me, since we saw the set long before the finale aired. She pilots the Ghost anyways, so again, including her wouldn't make sense. Sabine is seen on the ship in both the first AND last episodes so her inclusion doesn't limit the set to representing only episode 1. -
Filoni said that Vader would be used sparingly. That's why there's a new baddie with a twirly lightsaber arriving / fighting Kanan in the trailer. He said nothing like that about Ahsoka.

Nah, Han will die (Harrison Ford has been begging for the character to be killed for decades) and Chewie will live. For at least long enough to wreak havoc on whoever killed Han. Also, I want to see this fighter better:

That new Rebels trailer indicates that there are still clones around...
