The beginings of a really cool army. I can't wait to watch as it continues to evolve and expand.

Which pirate captain do you like now?
Commodore Hornbricker replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
I surprised myself by voting Brick Beard. I really like Red Beard and have a lot of him but I just think Brick Beard is a better minifigure. Good survey Armendariz. Thanks -
I got knifed like 10 times... it was horrible...Sir, you'll hear from my attorney...she has a bazooka!

Chucky is a little scarier and even more radiculous than this Chuck...but perhaps a guest appearance isn't out of the question?

Nice Scenes. Only the Bluecoats would be low enough to conspire with pirates! They have no honor...We must begin planning an appropriate response to this insult.

Well done all! Very tough to choose. Slyowl = 1 Erdbeereis = 1 Zuloo = 1

I haven't built a finished ship of this type but I like the look. When I get around to trying my hand at this I plan to use the tan for a naval ship and dark tan mixed with brown for pirates as I always imagine their ships being a little less well maintained whether its true or not.

The Pirates and the NXTfied Theater (by NeXTSTORM)
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Capt. Kirk's topic in LEGO Pirates
WOW. That was incredible. Thanks for posting this! I am almost speechless. -
For my reply to this brewing disagrement over spaniards vs, bluecoats please read the quote in my signature!

That's awsome! You guys did a great job documenting your work (which seems like a lot of work in and of itself). I am curious if you have done the brick to beer ratio! The ship is amazing beyond compare but the best part is seeing a group of friends having fun working on it. That's not something I have experienced since I was a kid and I am jelous as hell. For me Lego building is an escape into my own solitary world...only the end result can be shared. It is cool and you guys are lucky to have been able to share a project like this. The end result speaks for itself!

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes! I agree with everyone above and I think lots of people read and don't post. So you non-posters should get off your seats and say something. When people take the time to do the interview and especially those sharing personal details about their lives I think they deserve an at least...thanks for sharing. These interviews let us know a little about each other and our lives in a Lego context and a little more which I think makes this community better. The thing I like best about this site beyond we all like Lego is that we all like Lego for different reasons and look at Lego differently and we are from all over the planet. That in my opinion is cooler than any MOC and is really what keeps me coming back as oppossed to just browsing pictures on MOC Pages or Brickshelf!

That is it exactely! I love it...nothing stayed peaceful for long in those days. Great job

I'll just say hi rather than welcome as you have been around so long. That is really great that despite your dark age you kept all your original Lego. I was lucky enough to have done the same. While I have accumulated a vast amount more in adulthood than I had as a kid it still really takes me back when I recogonize a certain specific piece I know I had 30 years ago. Keep on building and collecting!

I am starting to think poor trolls. I think if this guy is as clever as he is strong then he has allowed himself to be captured and is now just using himself as bait to lure in more trolls. I mean if he is strong enough to hold them all up while balancing on one leg then he must be able to break those chains at will and beat them to a pulp with his bare hands. It is hard to believe though that thing is standing! Well done lots of patience required I have no doubt.

No. You need to read the books. Most of the A&E videos are covered as rather short stories in the first book. All the videos combined only touch on about three or four of the books I think and many of the video storylines are very different from the books. There are many more characters in the books and they don't all stick around as they do in the movies. In the movies Pellew represents several different admirals throughout his life. The only real constaint is Bush, Maria and Lady Barbara. My favorite three books are Commodore, Lord and Ship of the line. The only one that isn't good is the unfinished book that is HB During the Crisis that was unfinished at the time of Forester's death. After you read the books all the movies do is make you want to read the books again. That's a deal I hope I'll be able to take you up on one day.

It is called "Lego Pirate Building Set #6192

That's nice to know Bonaparte and you are correct. I also own all the DVD's and books and have seen and read them many times. I just started Midshipman Hornblower again Sunday night. It was actually Harry Potter Lego that ended my dark age but it was the A&E Hornblower series, quickly followed by the books, that moved my Lego interest into Pirates where it has remained for many years now. I have only ever visited Belgium once in the Arlon/Luxembourg region and around Antwerp in 1996. Beautiful country and the beer is second to none in my opinion. My grandafther was a WWII P-47 fighter pilot and married a Scottish nurse after the war so I have lots of family in England and Scotland and have been lucky enough to visit several times in my life. Hence my facination with english history. Many similarities but I would have to say you are by far the better builder...really inspirational stuff.

Nice little scene. Mushrooms are a great idea too but you make it sound like there is a bad place to have a leg of turkey and that's just not possible.

Everyone that has been around for a while seems to be introducing themselves so I figured I'd join them and correct my error. I actually found the classic-pirates site independently (as that was what I was looking for) and didn't realize for a while that it was a forum of a larger AFOL community. Anyhow - I am 36, married with 2 daughter (7 & 5). I live 5 minutes from San Francisco, California. I had a pretty long dark age (16 - late 20's) and then rediscovered my passion for Lego and began collecting. I collect a wide variety of themes: Pirates, Castle, IJ, HP, Town, and many others. I started with space when I was a kid but have not recaptured that love so I don't collect SW or space or themes that have an overtly modern feel. Pirates is my passion and I try to collect things from other themes that I can incorporate into pirates. I also have a lot of minifigures. Anyway that's my story and I have been enjoying my time here and posting often and hope to be able to continue to do so. I have been absolutely blown away by the humor, creativity and sher building genious of so many of the members here.

Any Idea When the Next Pirate Sets will be announced?
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
I just hope we get some new Bluecoats! -
Hey great MOC! I really like the castle design but the greenery and the river design really puts it over the top for me. I like all the little fights breaking out throughout the scene. But unfortunately it has recently been pointed out to me that I am just a Bloody Bureaucrat and as such know nothing Best of luck!
-
Ouch,,,As they say in the majors "That's a rough AB". I wonder if the castle provides life and accidental death and dismemberment issurance as I think his family is going to need it.

If you could revive any one dead theme...

I've seen it done before and I also think it looks better with the white pants. I don't think it looks all that soldierly with the big brown buckle across the chest but it isn't too bad. I've got to also agree with Joey in that he looks like he was just beaten down by either the redcoats, pirates or islanders (possibly all three at the same time - as is often the case with the bluecoats ). I prefer this torso for its original use as a pirate or possibly a merchant salior/officer. But what do I know, I'm just a Bloody Bureaucrat or so I have been told.
