Thanks...This is my first 100% original creation I've posted (as oppossed to more MOD type creations). I definately borrowed a few things from some of your designs. Especially the round cobbles and it won't be the last time . I'll take a look at the details for the walls as they are quite massive and breaking them up a little would be good. I wanted this one to be a little more spartan as it is a working naval building. It looks a little better in person (as they always do) because it does have a slight mix of differnt brown shades that gives it a little something to break up the brown. I've be currious about you mountain interiors as I have long planed a similar type topographic design. I am going to use 1x16 stacked boxes to create the interior but I needs 1000's to pull off my plan. Once I get my garage back from my contractor I'll have some space to start playing around. Your stuff has deffinately inspired my building.

I am a proud armybuilder! My collection all ranges around the priates them. I have 100's of red and blue coat soldiers (old and new)...100's of saliors and pirates and 100's of villagers. I am closing in on 100 islanders. Only a handfull of spaniards though. I incorporate minifigures from western, IJ, adventurers, castle and others that I think will make suitable soldiers, saliors, pirates, villagers and natives. I can't get enough. I have about 2000 in my collection most of which I submitted as part of the armybuilding thread.

Do you improve your sets?
Commodore Hornbricker replied to RileyC's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If I keep a set together in any recognizable form then I MOD it by combining multiples to make it bigger, changing colors, finishing interiors, adding new sections etc, to fit the feel of my overall Port. My next project is MODing the Fortress Eldorado (6276). There are one or two sets that I really love and when I have multiples I try to keep one looking almost original (but I can never resist changing one or two things)...I don't collect SW so I don't have experience with those sets. -
Vig. 78b is a steady and reliable supply of ships stores and materials. This building (I thought) was going to be my first attempt at modifying a medeival market set but something entirely different emerged from the building process. It still needs a few minor touches on the outside a brick or a tile here and there on the roof as well. I also need to finish it off on the inside. As you can see from the pictures I build my buildings modular so that they come apart which makes them easier to store but mostly have playability. So here it is...it took three days of on and off building (Friday I was staring at 9 empty bases scratching my head...so please tell me what you think and any suggestions for changes or things you'd like to see as I finish this up.

I love it! It made me laugh. Great job

I have really enjoyed your prior works but this one incorporated all your best elements from the past. AWSOME!!!!! One of the best ports ever. I would really like to know more about how you construct your mountain from the inside out. I had printed out pictures of some of your older buildings last week to use as inspiration on a project I had planned. I'll be going back again and again but I would love to hear more about the mountain and maybe even see some pictures of its insides, etc.

wow! Another entry from one of my favorite builders. Amazing! I can't fully enjoy it as I'm on my handheld until Tuesday. I can't wait to see it on my big screen.

New sets available on LEGO.com!
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Luke McAwesome's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Me too! I can't wait to get the drawbridge defense set! -
They are sitting in bags in containers waiting patiently for things to begin to come together. I am going to put the port on two sheets of plywood but I can't begin the work of building the foundations until July/august because of a home addition project. My contractor is hogging the space I need so I am trying to build some of the buildings. All the little village accessories will find their way in the port and the minifigures have joined the 2000 others that make up the population.

I switch green bricks for the blue in one set just to see what it looks like. I am building a big port town called the Port of Brick Royal. I am going to use all these sets to construct the village buildings but before I started custom work I wanted to build them all...on average it took 4 hours per set but I think I can build them know without instructions
-
I bought a whole bunch (12) of these for the port I am building. I am going to rework them and make them larger with different designs and colors, etc. But before I did that I wanted to build them all for the single purpose of photographing all 24 buildings together before they get all mixed up never to be seen together again...There is zero creativity in this but I still think it looks cool. Now I can tear them down and start to work on the fun part!

Annual White-Water Smash 'n' Crash
Commodore Hornbricker replied to SlyOwl's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That is really cool. I have always liked the way you do landscapes and rocky hills, etc. I'd love to see a picture of what your mocs look like from the back. The whitewater is amazing.....I will be stealing that in the future. Really great MOC -
I love it. Especially the way you built up the island using plates. The only thing that looks odd to me is the mast. I think it is to high. It should be broken off lower.

Ship for "Lego Pirates of Penzance" animation
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Xrisl's topic in Pirate MOCs
Fantastic movie!!!!!! I really love the dives and the splashes. The dancing and singing is great. That is really cool....more...more ...more. How long did it take you to make...how many images? -
I'd have to go with the first one for the white pants but I like the second head better (mostly because I have dark hair and the same beard). The red pants look just never looked right to me.

British....We've got red guys and blue guys. Plus we have the best spies! oooh and that little thing called complete naval supremacy...

My new Ship MOC WIP 'L'Aigle'
Commodore Hornbricker replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice start to your project. I can't wait to see it progress. I hate to say this but I recognize a lot of those heads...I believe they are from a bluecoat regiment known for excessive drinking and running away from battle (though that hardly narrows it down when talking of Bluecoats). Say hi to your Islanders...we've had them on the payroll for years! -
Beautiful. The interior is amazing and I love the architectural style of the building. Really nice MOC.
-
Nice MOC. Lots of action.
-
Great MOC. I really like the chandaler and the tile floor pattern. Great pictures too! Nicely done.
-
WOW Martin - That is a truely impossing fortification not to mention a lot of sloped bricks! Great job (for Bluecoats ). I love the massive wall but It feels like it needs something to break it up a little...some vine or greenery or maybe a few small openings for a few cannons to stick out of as you don't really have any guns to provide much cover on that side. Really unique design. Great MOC.
-
Really nice MOC. Great job on all the details but the crew really takes the prize. I love the pistol tucked into the belt and the knife across the chest. I also wondered why you have some stumpy little pirates? Great job!

Great job to everyone and congrtulations to SlyOwl. Very cool.
