  1. You are my new hero. I am a huge Hornblower fan. If you ever want to sell one of those you have a buyer!
  2. Great. Blackmoor, I was talking about the midievil Vllage Market Set
  3. Michael - Great torso design. I love them.
  4. I have 7 of those sets. I think they are awsome for pirates. I need a few more. I am just building them original right now and thinking about how I will combine and change them. I need for of five more. The accessories and people all work great. I take the helmets off the knights and throw some hair on them and they become pages and lower ranking government officials of the port. Here's a question for you caribbean experts. Can you get away with using the big tree from that set in a caribbean port? I am thinking not but it is such a cool piece of greenery.
  5. Awww a happy ending. I was hoping you'd rip um again. That was more fun to read. I think lego is really starting to figure out how import pick a brick is to the future of the company. I have high hopes that this revelation will eventually solve many parts issues we have all experienced.
  6. I hope I'll have some time soon to make some changes based on this discussion. I look forward to round 2.
  7. Has anyone out there converted any of the Governor's torso's into French troops? Do you think the torso works well for this purpose? Are there any other torso (other than the traditional bluecoats) that work well for French troops? Thanks
  8. The water really works well. First time I have seen it done that way. Ride'um Islander! Its like the original jet ski.
  9. I'll give that a read. Thanks
  10. You guys are awsome. Thanks. I smell a poll...
  11. Captn Green Hair. Thanks. I love it. You're absolutely right. That's the look.
  12. I've been holding out hope that I can make a custom sticker for the sign post that says Government House Port of Brick Royal...but I don't know a thing about making stickers.
  13. Nice army. I envy those creative enough to create the custom designs for their armies.
  14. Very beautiful. I really enjoy the way you handle the rocks and cliffs in your MOC's. I am going to want to pick your brain when I get to that portion of my port as I have never attempted that type design. My favoirte part is how the beach rises out of the water and climbs up to the rocks. The arch is beautiful as well. That is one element I really want to incorporate into my bluffs. Blundering pirates make such great victims!
  15. Cool. I love a good architectural design debate. My thinking is very close to Blackmoor's on this. I could never be accused of being a design purist as long as things relatively relate to the period. The center of the port was really ment to be acknowledgement of Whitehall and London at this time period. I know nothing this grand really existed in the Carribbean during this time. I have to agree that they do seem a touch more victorian than tudor or colonial in nature but I think the wealthier areas of London would have had similarities by 1805. They definately need to be modified to better fit the overall environment to create the transition between the wealthier center of the port and the more traditional elements which I envision surronding it. I sure appreciate all the comments. Hopefully you will all see some of your suggestions reflected in future revisions.
  16. Thanks for the nice comments. There where many many times when I thought this one was going to be beyond me and I almost threw in the towel. It turned out exactely how I imagined and it the one I am most looking forward to finishing off the interior. Especially the officers club.
  17. I am going to have to do something to better organize it. It is getting so that it takes forever to move around and get at things I need.
  18. Thanks everyone. Good call on the flags. I just love them both so much it is hard to pick one. Like having two kids. When I saw the Town Plan set for the first time it just hit me what that building ought to be and look like. The fountain with the gold 2x2 that is in that set will also have a place out infront of Government House. There will be a big open town square in front of government house where troops can parade, etc. This is my favorite building even though the East India Building was a huge work and also a favorite. I am currently working on midieval Village Market sets right now. I have five sets put together in their original form and trying ti figure out how I can rework some of them into larger modular versions.
  19. Thanks for the kind words and the great suggestions. Please keep those comming. I agree the Commons needs a lot of tweaking (including a better name something Commons). The hotel signs will be gone for sure and I think the yellow and white awnings need to be changes (light grey maybe or all white). The little tables and benches will also go and be replaced by something like little stands from the medieval market village. I am interested in the comment about the stone walkways. Do you think this could be accoplished with the 2x2 tiles just more mixed up or would you go 1x1? The little coffe cups above the cafes will be replaced with things like anchors, ships wheels and cannon. I am also going to make some color changes to some of the turents on top of the buildings so they look a little less uniformed. The doors is a cool idea I hadn't considered. I'll have to do some tests the next time I am working on them. As you can imagine just getting them out takes about an hour. The final "town building" made from 4 market street sets will be to the left of the Government House so opposite the East India Building. It will be on its own 45x45 plate. Where I really need parts is 1x16 bricks. I need thousands of those because I want the entire town to be raised up (talking about 30 45x45 plaes raised at least 8 to 10 bricks high). That will provide the dimesion I want it all to have at the sea wall/water front. I am also going to have 16x32 blue plates running through the left and right side of the port as rivers. I'll have to post the plans but they are on my office computer. I am imagining the main fort to the left above the port some 32 bricks high with a smaller fort to the right of the port at a little lower level.
  20. Royal Commons is located just inland of Government House in the Port of Brick Royal. It is home to shops, residences, and eateries for the ports inhabitants with enough wealth or prize money to enjoy it. Not sure on the name so make a suggestion if you have a better one. It still needs to have lots of nautical details added to the exterior. The interior needs to be finished as well. It is made up of 4 Cafe Corner sets, 2 Market Street Buildings and 1 Green Grocer. It is built on 4 - 45x45 plates. I have one more building I am just starting that will be made from 4 Market Streets. It will be home to the middle class and lower level officers (not so luck in the matter of prize money). Then it will be on to the more working class areas of the Port, then the water front, then the naval facilties, merchant port, forts and gun emplacements, admiralty, walls, etc.
  21. Another work in progress. This massive building is on a 45 x 45 plate. It will be located across the street to the right of Government House. It needs some nautical themed touches still to the exterior but it is coming along. It is a conglomeration of 4 Green Grocer sets. The first level is markets and shops, food as well as uniforms and other essentials (still to be finished). The second level (which is one open room) will be an officers club for whist and other gentelmenly pursuits. The top floor will be lodging. The exterior is finished on all four sides. Again with the bad background.
  22. http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/20509/...932m_SPLASH.jpg I have been working on and off on this one for a while but I thought I might share a few things that I have actually built for the Port of Brick Royal. Government House was inspired by the building from the new Town Plan set. It is more than twice as tall and twice as deap. It will eventually find its home at the center of the port. The exterior still requires some work and finishing touches. The interior is still completely empty but will include the office and living quarters of the Governor and his family. Background is too dark in the picture. sorry A better view
  23. I love movies. Can't wait. My advice is don't charge $20 for popcorn and a drink! Good luck.
  24. Great torsos. Very nice design with lots to look at.
  25. Another fine ship. She looks very handy and well supplied.
