Technic General Discussion
N-4K0 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Does anyone know when one can expect new parts from new sets to be found on BrickLink? I know it probably comes down to when the individual sellers purchase the sets and part them out, might be a difficult question to answer. -
Fundamentally 'wrong' renditions
N-4K0 replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think it matters so much seeing that Lego is intended for kids. Of course it's always interesting to see real-life systems/setups incorporated into a Technic set, or innovative techniques not used before, but it's a toy. In the end, it comes down to that. -
I'm planning to get this set, and if I do, I'll add my PF switch to the setup as explained and see how it works out.
-
What I mean is that you use the PF-switch to turn the motor on when you want to power a function, instead of using the BB on/off switch letting the motor run all the time. This since using the PF switch makes movement of turning on the motor easier, with less friction. At least the switch I have has much less friction than the BB switch. I hope this makes it more clear.
-
To avoid having the L-motor running non-stop making noise, what about connecting a PF switch between the BB and the motor? So that you turn on the BB and use the switch to turn on the motor only when you want it to run, so to speak. Obviously it would be a 1-way operation as with the BB the way the gearbox works anyway, but it sounds like a possible arrangement to me.

[HELP] Tracks
N-4K0 replied to N-4K0's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is true. Well, I've read how to proceed via an image hosting site to upload pics here, but I haven't tried that yet. Either way, I eventually managed to find a solution and get a working track without too much slack, though, a satisfying solution for the time being. I think I'll leave it at that. Sorry for bothering you to reply I may have gone ahead of thinking when I made this topic, so any admin or mod may close it if they like. I would like to find out more about "proper" tracks for tracked machines, though, if anyone would have something to add. -
I couldn't find any topic related to my question, so I'll make this and let the moderators decide what to do with it. I'm dealing with an undercarriage with tracks, modified version from the 42006, and I keep getting problems with the length vs. track link dimension. Does anyone know how many studs there needs to be between the large sprocket wheels for the tracks to fit well without getting too loose? I'm looking at a dimension of around 15 studs in between the axles holding the sprocket wheels, and I either have to make it more than 15 studs apart or have the tracks be too loose. Any help is appreciated!

Wow, the Stormtrooper looks great. The rifle is cool and the helmet looks awesome.

R.I.P. Christopher Lee, you were a great actor.

Of course, although Luke doesn't have the best look, Obi-Wan looks nice, so there is hope for human characters I guess droids fascinate me more in general.
-
I think droids and characters like Vader are the best options, since human/organic characters doesn't always look good IMO, like Luke.

Depends what it is. I often eat while I'm building, but I'm cautious to not get any grease or anything on my parts.

Doing some MOCing.

Picked up a copy of 42038 Arctic Truck and read some manga. I built the arctic truck to see how it looks like IRL, then dismantled it and built the B-model and replaced the tracks with tires.

I wouldn't say Lego has taken over my brain, but I saw a drilling rig in action today and started to wonder how I could build one I did build a small one years ago, so it's more of a re-imagined thought, I'd say.
